View Full Version : Carbohydrates come from?
I've been a Vegan for over a year now.
70%+ of my Carbohydrates come from Pasta(400 grams per day). The rest come from raw vegetables(fennel, carrot, onion, chicory, radish, radish leaves, lettuce, spinach, etc.). I also eat raw sprouted lentils for protein combining with the pasta.
If I were to cut out the pasta; where could I get 400 grams of Carbohydrates per day? or 2000+ calories of Carbohydrates?

Surely the best source of carbs is fruit.
I have checked on my requirements and I need 414 grams of carbs per day and I have had 368.6 so far today and that is 89% of my daily requirement.
I got all of this from fruit.
If you need more than me then you should eat more fruit than I do.
How many fruits do you eat per day?
Can you give me an example with carbs per fruit that you eat. I'm just wondering what your grocery bill totals per visit.
1 apple contains at most 25 grams of carbs.

I use cronometer so I have an acurate reading. I will post what I have had today so far. I am a little person 5ft 2 and 110 lbs so my calorie requirement is just under 1900 per day.

Watermelon, raw 665 g 199.5
Melons, honeydew, raw 1175 g 423.0
Bananas, raw 180 g 160.2
Pineapple, raw, all varieties 465 g 232.5
Mangos, raw 250 g 162.5
Papayas, raw 260 g 101.4
Apples, raw, with skin 300 g 156.0
This is today so far and this amounts to the carbs that I stated in the first post.
I have not had my green smoothie yet so that will make up the shortfall.
The second column is calories.
Just a general overview is fine. Do you eat more than 10 fruits per day?
Edit: scratch what I wrote above.
You must make good money to afford those on a daily basis. What did today cost you?

Food is something that I decided a long time ago that I would not skimp on. I go to the bargain rail for everything else but not my food.
Eating well is cheaper than paying medical bills. I am not even registered with a doctor. I save a lot by eating this way.
I totally agree with you. Health is the most important thing.
Do you eat anything else like legumes or vegetables?

I eat greens and celery and cucumber. I also eat flax seeds and sunflower and pumpkin and chia seeds
I do not eat grains as I feel that we are not meant to.
Grains are for birds.
