I've never really liked cabbage much (in the past few years I occasionally eat raw sauerkraut but that's about it).
Yesterday I had a headache as well as a serious craving for cabbage. I shredded a small green one, massaged it with lemon juice, sea salt, and seaweed. It still tasted like cabbage--yet it tasted so good to me!
I just juiced a purple cabbage (with a little bit of apple). It looked like grape bubble gum but tasted like sweet coleslaw. I felt a huge mood uplift after drinking it.
Any ideas about what would suddenly create this desire? I otherwise eat a variety of veg, including lots of brassicas.

Thanks for this post--I've been trying to like cabbage too. I love kimchi but haven't even started cutting up my cabbage in the fridge. I think I just like things with a bit more color, so maybe I'll try purple next time. Cabbage is an excellent source of potassium, as well as calcium and magnesium!

Yes, we only think we don't like a lot of fruits and vegetables, mainly because they've either been destroyed through processing or with additives. Or because we need to get away from the junk and eat more real food. As our taste buds and body become accustomed to eating raw, we crave it more. Including foods we thought we didn't like. There is practically no fruit or veg that I don't like, which I consider amazing & fun. Just the other day I said "I love celery", then I laughed at the (good) craziness of that statement from someone that use to hate it. Just enjoy it and don't question it. :)
I got a head of cabbage, and about halfway into it or less it started getting REALLY spicy.. like wasabi. but I gave it to a friend and he said it wasn't spicy at all...
that's weird. for some reason maybe cabbage gets spicy as you eat more and more of it?

Does the freind you gave it to eat a similar diet as you. If not, and his is loaded with salt or preservatives and other things you don't consume, that could mask the tastes some. Once you've gone a few weeks with less refined foods and food preservatives your taste buds wake up a great deal. That might explain the difference in perceptions of taste.
i think he just didn't eat enough of it. once you do it will get spicy... at least for this type of cabbage. I think it was savoy.

Wow! After reading this post, I went home and ate a cabbage roll wrap with chunky guacamole. And guess what? I like cabbage. Wait, I don't just like it, I love it! Crisp and tasty. Can't wait to try cole slaw and other cabbagey-things. Thanks :D

I love cabbage.. taste and crunch of it. .. however it gives me terrible indigestion, i feel gaseous and bloated after eating it, even sourkraut.
Perhaps it's the sulfur? but I refuse to eat cabbage now.
