After my first 30 days raw, I wanted to take cleaning out my system a step further by doing a 10 day master cleanse, but I have read that it actually can be harsh and do more damage then good ,so I was wondering would it be smarter to do a Juice cleanse for ten days?
I am also worried about the master cleanse because I am hypoglycemic, and I am now thinking the juice cleanse would keep my sugar levels up where as the lemonaid mix would provide nothing for fuel?
Just wanted to see what some people opinions where and what they did or diddnt do.
No matter what I choose Im going right back to raw after,I just kinda wanted a good clean jump start. One more question,at what point should you start drinking wheatgrass, and is it for everyone?

Thanks,Ronda........

I'm a big advocate of the MC, I've done it many times & I recently just finished a 5 day juice fast. I think both are really good, however I do think the MC is harsh, but if that's what you need go for it! I also was hypoglycemic so when I did the MC I used only 1 tbsp of maple syrup so I wouldn't get all the sugar. I actually really enjoyed my juice fast....looking back haha. It was definetly nice to have different tastes as opposed to the MC when it's all one drink.

I started wheat grass right away. I don't see why anyone wouldn't be able to have it b/c it's so beneficial to you!

I'm actually doing the M/C right now... I did it for 13 days at the beginning of February (this month), then stopped for a few days for my anniversary, and restarted it again 4 days ago... I have lost a total of 16 pounds so far (I gained 3 back when I stopped)... And, I'm LOVING IT!!!!

If you get bored with the Lemonade, you ABSOLUTELY can switch to LIMEADE!!! Actually, I like the Limeade better than the Lemon!!!! :D

The only "glitch" I had with it, is that I started getting Chest pains and stomach pains for a few days... I now believe that I added too much Cayenne Pepper in the batch that I made for those days. I am continuing with it, though...but, I am adjusting the Cayenne and using a lot less than I was...

I also have done a juice fast for 10 days a couple of years ago and LOVED it too... It all depends on what you prefer. I personally don't feel that the M/C is harsh...I found it easier than the juicing because I made up a Gallon every day and drank off of that. The Lemons/Limes keep you from being hungry and you can go about your daily routine without feeling weak from it...

You should hop on over to the Fasting thread and take a look! Aleesha is past 100 days of Juice/Water Fasting, and she is SUCH an encouragement!!! :)

Hope that helps!!!

i haven't chimed in here cause i don't do the M/C and really know little to nothing about it.

i can say though that juice fasting is da bomb in my world!!! today is day 105 and i feel amazing. have heaps of energy... get loads done. lots of clarity of mind...

i guess it really comes down to... what do you want to consume? raw live juices (variety) or the same drink? personally i need/want variety.

Hi everyone!! *waves feverishly* :p
I've been away from the forum for a while, but NOT from my lovely raw foods! :D I'm in the same boat as you RawHorizons with trying to decide between the two. I'm just tired of chewing, I know that sounds strange, but I'm just tired of food and feel as though I need a break. I can't, however, decide if I want to do a Master Cleanse or a juice feast. I've done the former before for 11 days and thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm just not enthused about the salt water flush. lol My second issue is that I don't have a juicer, and don't know about straining after blending my fruits with my Vita Mix. I've read that many do it, so I suppose it's not a huge deal.

I had planned to buy myself a brushed metal 7 cup Cuisinart food processor for my birthday in October, but maybe I should get a juicer instead.

i understand totally what you mean. i get tired of eating myself... so i fast. then i eat again, get tired of it and fast again. LOL

I certainly will! I think I'm leaning towards juicing via my Vita Mix...at least to see how it goes.

Good to see you again Aleesha! :)

There was a guy --can't remember the name --who actually was some sort of good buddy --or a partner of Stanley Burroughs ---something like that, and he now even disagrees with the MC.

Now, with the MC, you are "resting" your digestive system. and you are cleansing, but I think it's better to do that ALL AT THE SAME TIME as getting huge doses of nutrients that you would get while doing the raw juice.

I also do not agree with the MC method of elimination. Even proponents admit that it may deplete your minerals (salt flushing, laxative-type teas).

It is also my opinion that it is better to have elimination, rather than allow your own poop to sit there. so when I have done raw-juice cleanses, I have done enemas about five days a week, and colonics once a week.

I'm now leaning towards a low fruit/sugar smoothie and raw-juice combo because IMO you get the best of both worlds. No, your digestion doesn't "rest" as much as if you were strictly raw juice, because you're consuming some fiber, but it is still resting quite a bit, and no need to even think about elimination. You could go a couple days with raw juice, then throw in a couple green smoothies here and there.

Now, many old-timers used to just do fasting or juice only without any type of elimination. Me, I wanna get rid of the poop that can continue leaching into your intestines. .

Maybe you'll want to research it for yourself, make your own decision, and then let us know how it goes!

Best of luck.

Thanks MaryK
I agree with the whole move the poop thing, seeing the whole reason to fast is to clean the system out.I dont have a doctor,or insurence nor the money to shell out on a calonic or anything.
Is there still a effective way to clean, could I use the laxative teas along with juicing,or would that counteract with each other?
I know your just saying in your opinion and I know everyone is diffrent, and maybe Ive missed something but I would appreciate your opinion on that....
Ive decided I will be doing the juice fast for 10days....It will be pretty much straight carrot,or apple carrot or simple stuff.Ive tried greens in my juicer and they dont juice so well.So I will make sure to do smoothies too.

Another question to anyone, can you do tea's,and or smoothies on a juice fast or will that not work, does it have to be straight up juice?
