I was given a old, only I didn't know how old, Cuisinart. I had to replace the bowl ($29.00). Not bad right? Well, now I need to replace the s-blade ($39.00) and the grater blade ($29.00). This is getting a wee bit expensive!

I have found out that this was one of the first Cuisinarts made -- in France -- built to last, at least the motor. It holds about 7 cups (I'm guessing). My dealima. . .

Do I replace the parts or just go buy another food processor? I know, my problem, not yours, but. . . does any one have one this old? Does it really last forever? I sure hate spending that kind of money on this. I haven't even mentioned the orginal $25.00 I was suppose to pay for the machine. (The orginal owner is 94 years old and has decided to let me help her with baths for trade.)

Any advice???

Maybe you can work out a trade for those replacement parts? Like a shopping trip to your favorite farmer's market? Does she know you have to spend all that money to get it working again?

I don't buy everything on ebay, trust me, but I have bought things that I needed and couldn't find more cheaply elsewhere ( like a 2,500.00 electric piano for 500.00 with 25.00 shipping from a real-front music store who sells on ebay, too !) - ..

....so,, I just popped in there and looked up cuisinart: 200 listings. You can find replacement parts if you're sure you want to stay with this older machine, or buy a brand new one from a company that still has warrenty priority.

Older folks usually fold into two groups.. extremely frugal, or extremely generous once they get past a certain age. I'd not charge a dime for that machine it it were me, but I'm not in my 90s, either.

There comes a time when recoupment of initial cost is a moot point.
