Hi everyone, I hope you are all okay :)
I started a raw vegan diet 13 days ago having been vegetarian for 10 years. I was vegetarian for ethical reasons, but i'm going raw vegan for health and spiritual reasons.
Today, however, I made a mess of things. I was at work in the morning and got home to my parents house where they were throwing a party, and partly because the smoothie i'd had at work wasn't very tasty or filling and partly because of all the fantastic party food, I ended up lapsing and eating a load of rubbish.
I've never had a junk food problem, I have eaten fairly healthy for years and going raw vegan was just progressing that, so it wasn't so much a missing of old habits, more of a lapse in awareness and willpower on the back of a fair few horrendous tasting green smoothies and generic salad mixes.
For the first week or so I'd convinced myself that I was happy to sacrifice taste for health benefits, and as such was guzzling some nasty tasting smoothies, but I think today was my brain telling me that I really need to make sure i'm enjoying what I have in my raw vegan diet if it is going to endure.
I'm not going to be hard on myself about today's lapse. Instead I hope that I get awful stomach aches, feel yucky in the morning and remember exactly why I started eating raw vegan and be extra motivated to push forwards.
I've been dropping in here for a while just reading posts and articles and I think the time is right to get involved and hopefully find the encouragement and focus to make this a permanent life choice.
Thanks for reading, and pleased to meet you all :)
