Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a few months, enjoying many of your delicious recipes and checking out the fasting threads (still too chicken!) ;)
I went raw in May after experiencing raw vegan at a restaurant for the first time in December. It was the first time in my life that I'd eaten food and it didn't hurt. I felt energized, not tired. It was very eye opening.
Since going back to school (at 41) I have been having some trouble and slipping a bit and both my weight and my skin (which have been FABULOUS since going raw) are starting to suffer. And of course, living in Chicago, my concern is that I will want warm comfort foods when the temp dips below zero But, I really only feel good when I'm at least 80% raw, so I'm hoping that by joining this group, I will be more inspired and get some quick/portable "rawkin" recipes. :)
On a side note, my son was diagnosed at 4 with a corn allergy. (He is now 13 and no longer allergic). However, it was eye opening to see how much corn syrup, HFCS and corn derivations that are in a "normal SAD" diet, so I am very familiar with Whole foods and some "off the grid" food. I'm hoping that will help my full conversion to raw.
Very excited to be here!!
