Has anybody else noticed the slight change in color/taste this past month/few weeks? It's a good change, I think it tastes better, but I wonder what happened...
I don't think the texture is different, but I'm not sure because I usually pour out the oil on top instead of mixing it in. :p

Maranatha has never been raw, if that helps. They use pasteurized almonds & don't regulate the temperature.

Thanks Dimond, I had figured as much to begin with, based upon my own almond butter escapades, but I'm alright with little bits for recipes. It used to make my stomach hurt to have very much at all, but since this change it hasn't seemed to. *shrug*

Shels, maybe you could check with the company? Your body's reaction is interesting and may well be very telling. Possibly Maranatha did something different.
...possibly? :p

Hi Dimond....I am thinking they would be using pasteurized almonds....is that a typo?

Why does it saw RAW on the label if it's not raw? Doh!

Raw can be a relative term. In the case of almonds it means the almonds are not roasted. For truly raw almonds it has to state "unpasteurized".
If you can't get "unpasteurized" almonds or almond butter, then get the next best thing (in my opinion) ORGANIC. As I understand it organic California almonds are steam pasteurized. That sounds better than nonorganic which may be chemically pasteurized.

I agree, but I liked it better before... different strokes for different folks.
On another note: Does almond butter - or for that matter- all butters get "old"?

Do you mean does it get too old to eat after a certain amount of time, or do we grow tired of it?
I wish I would get tired of it. I'm just going to have to stop buying it, period. I make an excuse to buy it (oh, I need it for this recipe or that meal) and then poof, before I've come anywhere near the original reason, I've eaten it all alone.
