I'm going on a short three or four day trip next week, and am going to make a bunch of bars to pack along for emergencies and snacking in the car (there will be LOTS of driving), and maybe filling up if there's not much fresh produce available as we may be camping out a little. The thing is, I want to have lots of variety, and delicious combinations.
What is your favorite flavor for a bar? Best combination of foods?
I will probably use pumpkin seeds (and dates) as a base for most of them since those are what I have the most of. However, this is what I have to work with:
-Pecans
-Walnuts
-Cashews
-Flaxseed (whole and ground)
-Hemp Seeds
-Almond Butter
-Cacao nibs
-Dried Cherries
-Raisins
-Goji Berries
-Coconut Flakes
And essential spices, and things like honey, cacao powder, etc. I'm considering trying to incorporate some fresh fruit into a few, like maybe a banana-almond bar, or pomegranate in with a goji berry bar or something. So lets hear it, what is the best combination you've ever tasted, whether it be your own creation or a store-bought bar, or an old favorite from before you went raw.

I just made some goji cacao bars. Check my recent threads, someone linked me to the recipe. Basically its goji berries, cacao nibs, almonds, flax, pumpkin seeds, dates and agave nectar. You can also make a chocolate topping, but I skipped it. Also another type of treat I make is made with bananas, young coconut meat, dates, sesame seeds and spirulina.

Here I went and got the link for you http://www.rawmazing.com/recipes/raw-cacao-goji-energy-bars/
This recipe makes a pretty nice amount of bars. Something like 2 dozen 1x3 inch bars. I had a little less cause I made the individual bars bigger. You can make them the size you want. But think about the amount and make adjustments if you want more/less.

Thanks punkrotten, I was planning on basing the general measurements on that, I was just curious as to everybody's favorite combinations. Like, are walnuts better with chocolate, or pecans? What do cashews compliment? Would cherries be best with almond or hemp or both?
There are so many possibilities I wanted to narrow it down a bit.

My favorite is made by a local coop grocery store. It is called "Fruit and Nut Bar". It is sliced and sold in chunks about 2 inches thick. I ate it a lot during my transition days. I don't eat it now because it is held together with brown rice syrup and arrowroot, and it is so good I would overindulge.
The nuts are raw and the fruits are dried. Here are the ingredients:
cashews
dates
pumpkin seeds
raisins
almonds
cranberries
apricots
walnuts

Made them today, and I am so unabashedly happy with my results. The combinations I chose were:
-Lemon-coconut (with cashews)
-Apple-cinnamon (with raisins to hold together instead of dates)
-Goji-cherry with cacao nibs
-RP brownies of course
-a mixture of the leftovers with some more cacao.
I have two of each, and three of the brownies. I wish I would have made more lemon bars though instead of the scrap-mix, they are SO good. Some fresh fruit to snack and this trip is going to be a breeze.

Bars are the one thing I've never been able to find a recipe for that tastes as good as the packaged version. Lara bars vary a lot, but the best ones are fantastic--I like all the fruit pies, lemon, carrot cake, and chocolate chip cookie dough bars.

Also good for a base is if you juice apples & pears and use the mush that is left over. Add your nuts, seeds etc and dehydrate. They are yummy!

Since I don't own a dehydrator I made up my own recipes, based on past experiments and "rp brownies". I used dates to make things stick together, and the wet bars (apple and lemon) I put in my car to try to dehydrate them, lol. Sorry I don't have any recipes to post!
Aside from my leftover mixture (which I threw out, because I tried unsuccessfully hiding wakame in them), I liked these much more than any store-bought bars I've tried, excepting Raw Revolution bars. The packaged products are always so fatty and oily.
