Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:

Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."

The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.

Here's my commitment:

I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast next week in the morning but not today.

I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.

I'm on Day 96 and happy to continue fasting.

This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.

Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.

We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!

Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

Ah now that I got the introductions out of the way... let's talk about fasting.

Does everyone want to share their commitments (if they have any) and what day they are on?

As you already know from my post above... I'm on day 96 and my original goal was eleventy-one days... but I think I'll be going past that. I can't even imagine stopping anytime soon so... until my body wants me to stop... I'll just keep on keepin' on.

I chose a name...and I present to you... Lady Isenbella, elf extraordinaire. I'll be joining you all on Monday when I get back from visiting mom and dad. :)

Oh I love your name Lady Isenbella... that is truly breathtakingly beautiful. I imagine your beauty is equal... that inner bright Light that shines from the ends of your hair.

I am extremely pleased with the length of my ears. I love how they curl just at the tip of the point. Others make think it's odd... but I love it. Makes me a little unique - in an elven way.

**giggling*** LOL..Hello fellowship.... and I love the Elf name Lady Isenbella.

I will be starting my fast on Saturday. I was only going to do a short fast until October, but I may just go for it. I'll see how that goes.

I fast because I feel closer to my God, and I love the way that feels. I gain more spiritual connection.

I fast because I want to continue gifting my body with what it needs to be healthy. I have a few health issues I'm wanting to get rid of.

I fast because my body just feels so much better while I'm fasting. And who doesn't like to feel good!! ;)

oh and i forgot to share... you all know i had the bowel movement of all bowel movements today right? well afterwards i had two more... but it was 'shake'. you know when it's like a flake that comes out. that always tells me that things are nice and cleaned out... so this made me very very happy indeed!

I have to share this with you. I have had this 'hunchback' on my back for years. I've been concerned about it but honestly, there was nothing I could do about it.

During this water fast on the last four days... IT DISAPPEARED!!! Yup... it's gone. How cool is that? I thought it was a deformity and it wasn't... it was fat!!!

09-16-2010, 10:52 PM
Started a green smoothie fast today. I'm not sure how long I'll continue - will just take it each day and see how it goes I guess. I've been raw for about 6 weeks, then the past 4 days this raw eater went wild at the state fair with greasy fair culinary lures! Eeeek! Digestive issues this morn told me to just drink green smoothies - with minimal fruit. Tonight my body is hurting - aching. . . likely all those state fair poisons trying to escape!

Hello everyone! Although I am departing from this thread today and will grreatly miss the daily banter, I would like to take an honorary elf name please for my future return. :) Lady Aryatara It is the sanskrit name for the bodhisattva that shares my real name. Thanks fellow fasting elves and fairies!I look forward to joining you again in the future!

You are all beautiful, empowered, wonderful women, and I am soooooo excited for the journeys you are on. Enjoy each moment, even the rough ones!

Whoa, that "hunchback" disappearing is crazy! Crazy cool, that is! Aleesha your body responds to your fast in such incredible ways.

I am signing as my fasting fairy! :)

I have to share an amazing wake-up experience I had today -- I dry skin brushed for the first time. Does anyone else fasting currently do that? WOW I wish I had started earlier! What a great feeling - you can feel your lymph system waking up and flowing. And my skin afterwards was SUPER soft. I highly recommend it!!

Oh what fun... this fellowship is amazing... I love all your names. I just love them. (((hugs)))

I'm in a rush cause I have to make juice and get dressed for our homeschooling co-op but...

I have done skin brushing and my skin was soooooo soft it was amazing. Truly amazing. I stopped... cause I'm a wimp and I was so tender... I didn't like the feel of the brush... but I may begin again. That was a few years ago!

I don't know how I'm feeling yet today. I haven't done anything yet but check my email so I can get ready for my day. I'll be taking cantaloupe/mint/ginger and pineapple/spirulina with me today.

I'm placing an order for E3Live as we speak (on hold) and I'm getting 3 nectar and 3 mint bottles... plus the powder... so I can take it with me if I go somewhere. (Not that I ever travel but heck, you never know). LOL

in light,
Aleesha

Oh and my hunch... I'm so glad you all see it as being as cool as I do. Honestly... I thought it was a deformity... I really did. Even my yoga instructor thought it was. And here... it was fat! WOW!!!

Wow, so much has transpired since my last sign on. Welcome, welcome, welcome.

I am on day 10.

Yesterday – Thursday – Day 9

Workout: Jogged for 25 minutes

Nourishment: Raw juices as planned.

Assessment: Nothing new to report. I’m a boring faster …LOL. I don’t have any issues to report or any healing to report. However, I assumed great things are going on internally.

Aleesha, I’m seriously curious about the hunch. Do you mean it resembled a real hunch like the disease called scoliosis or not that type of hunch? Out of curiosity, did you do the 4 water days in a row? By the way, I added some cinnamon and cayenne pepper to my apple, pear, ginger drink this morning. I’m not going say I love it but it absolutely IMPROVED the taste. I can’t wait to see how some of the others taste with the addition.

Zuri, yes, I think I am bit odd for not loving the taste of these amazing juices. I could understand if I’d been at it for weeks but that’s not the case. I can only say that it’s sort like a reminder of when I did 55 days a couple of years ago. I was just sick of the taste and I guess I haven’t gotten over it.

Tguch, I am going to try that dry brushing. I love soft skin.

Don’t recall who asked about Bikram Yoga, but I am planning to give it a try tonight for the first time. I have no idea how my body will respond but I will let you all know how it goes.

Aleesha - Something pleasant happen unexpectedly on your water fast. Really made it all the worthwhile even more so!!! Nice!!!

I'll be joining you all tomorrow to do a one day fast and try to make a habit of doing it once a week to a point where I'm brave enough to go on a longer fast!!!

Love all your names!! Here's my name, Lady Winday meaning victory!!! It's quite obvious once I point that out. I thought of this a minute ago... And also the meaning of the name is waking up in the morning, having a great day/night, living, and sleeping/dreaming with a winning attitude!!!! :)

09-17-2010, 11:33 AM
Oh I love your new name... Lady Winday :) May the winds of heaven blow through your day, removing the old out-moded habits and things and making way for new!

Free... the hump was hard, like bone... hence why I thought it was a deformity. My chiro never said anything about it and I was done seeing him by time I really discovered it. When I was at my heaviest... I didn't notice cause I was all fat there ... but as my body size reduced that did not. It wasn't this bulbous mass that everyone noticed... but if you stood and looked at me from the side you would see it. I knew it was there and was conscious of it.

But... now it's gone!!! Oh and it's always been really itchy... so I wonder if it's been detoxing itself??? Not sure... just so happy to have it gone.

I ordered my E3Live... very pleased. I'll have it wed or thurs next week. They only ship on Tuesdays to Canada.

I am still not back to my self... so I believe that I have a mild version of what my entire family is sick with. They too can't stand for long periods of time and that is my only symptom. I still can't stand up for long at all. Cause normally, I'd be back to my self again with the amount of juice I drank yesterday.

I've packed lots of juice for our co-op today... 4 litres. I know I won't drink it all but I don't want to run out. We have to go pick up a case of cantaloupes and 2 cases of young coconuts afterwards so I probably won't be home till around dinner time... so I want to be covered.

Well... I'm off to our co-op meeting.

Yeah I struggle with dry brushing. It feels great after I'm done but getting to the brushing itself hardly ever seems to happen for me. Maybe I'll give it another go at some point esp. during my fast.

Hi all!!!!

I'm still on the M/C!!!! This is Day 15 for me!!!

Yesterday was an extremely busy day for me, and I didn't drink anywhere near the amt of Lemonaide I should have, and I didn't have a BM... So, I started the morning with a Salt Water Cleanse.... 2 hrs later, still nothing... So I drank some Detox Tea and I just had one, but my tummy hurts now. I didn't have a BM since I took that "detour" on the 15th, and actually gained a few pounds back because of it!!!! ...it's NOT worth it to me! No more going backwards!!!! Onwards and upwards from here! ;)

Off to drink more Lemonade!!!! Hey, I just found my new Human NAME!!!!! LADY LEMON-NEE!!!!!! :D. LOL!!!!

Wishing you the strength you need to get back to yourself again! :) And thanks for starting the Fellowship of the Fasters. This is fun!

Renee -*smiling* Lady Lemon-Nee!!!! :)

I'm so looking forward to fasting tomorrow! I can tell my body really needs it so I've change my mind to do a juice fast instead of tea tomorrow.

And I will do yoga or walking as well whenever I decide to fast.

No names for me, but I'm definitely ready to get back to fasting again. My dad died last Saturday. We had just come back from a couple of days at the beach only to get the call that he was gone, so we repacked and left the next morning for my mom's. It has been a tough week with a lot going on.
We are very blessed to have so many good people around here and great family to help out. The downside is that most of them eat the SAD and they have brought so much food in. We haven't had enough time or energy to juice like we should, so it just hasn't been a good eating/juicing week at all!
We plan to head for home in the morning. I just want to get back to my normal routine. It has been a hard emotional week for us and my mom has a lot to go though. They were together almost 50 years, so it will be a huge adjustment for her.
It is incredible how miserable I feel, but it is also good to remind me that I hate a SAD! I will be water fasting most of the day tomorrow and once we get home and settled I can hit the juice hard again! I don't like this "slug" feeling!

mysticshore
09-17-2010, 04:43 PM
It sure will be tough on your mom. It's one of the hardest things to go through. Wishing you all the best over the coming weeks. I'm sure once things settle down you can focus on your fasting again. At least it does remind you how horrible the SAD diet is.

I had alot of energy yesterday so it was exciting that it could be like that when fasting. I went walking while my friends ate lunch then when I got home I cleaned the house.

Lovely names you've all chosen... that is lovely indeed!!!

I had a super busy day. I drank 3 litres of juice. I reallllly like the pineapple/mint/ginger/spirulina juice I made. It wasn't sweet... it was just lovely. I also had some cantaloupe/mint/ginger.

Then I went to the market and they asked if I'd like two huge boxes of nectarines for $5. I said sure... they were old and bruised... got 10 litres of juice out of them!!! *jaw drops* How's that for affordable juicing.

I have a lot to do in the next couple of days so sweet juices will help me tremendously... I'll water them down 1/2 way. I added in a little concord grape juice and some crab apples to unsweeten them a tad.

Anyway... I'm off to the fall fair... the family is already there. I needed a moment to sit down since I've been going all day and when I stand I'm super dizzy. It's this darned flu... not fasting. I just didn't realize I had the flu cause I didn't get the rest of the symptoms...

later!

Oh and Renee... bin there done that. Bought the t-shirt and don't do it anymore. ;) *referring to eating while fasting*

Missyc I am so sorry to hear of your loss and the hardships that you and your family have faced this week. Fasting will certainly aid in staying strong. My heart and many many ((((hugs)))) go out to you <3

Today is day 4 and despite finding that I have very stinky body odor today, I am feeling great! An abundance of more energy than yesterday, for sure. Today is definitely one of those days where I feel like I have energy just pulsing through my veins, I love it! I cleaned the entire house and got a ton of work done. Was motivated to return phone calls and emails and take care of some wedding stuff. I also went to the chiropractor and my aches and pains are so much better now.

As for the talk on skin brushing, I do it every day when I fast. I loooove how wonderful it feels when I'm done! Totally worth it. I only wish that I could keep up with it when I'm not fasting. I tend to pay more attention to myself and take better care of myself when I'm fasting. Hmm...

Oh and I just LOVE all of the Fellowship names! Keem em coming, it's so much fun :)

Hello everyone.... I am so excited that my fasting time is here. I am starting as of a few hours ago. Tonight marks the beginning of Yom Kippur (day of atonement) and I am fasting for it.

I will continue my fast, but I'm not sure how long yet.

We are also taking the next two weeks off from school to celebrate the Feast of Booths. Its a very fun time for our whole family. So this is a great time to be fasting. I'm so excited.

Sooooo.... tomorrow I am looking at making some green lemonade and some pineapple juices. Yeah.....

oh....Awen.... that is so cool about your "hump". That really amazes me!! I'm so happy for you!

Oh goodie... both of you Lady Aredhel and Lady Winday are here! (((hugs)))

The morning marks day 98 and week 14. Which means... Monday is a very special day. I'm hoping the juices will be running freely and many people, elves and dwarves will dance, sing songs and celebrate with me.

I'm home from the fall fair... it was fun and I did soooo well. I had a couple of literally split second thoughts of 'wanting'... which left as quickly as they came. I'm so pleased. I'm hoping Thanksgiving and Yule are equal ease for me.

I. can't. stay. away. From this thread or the juicing! :) A new recipe this morning...

Blow your mind green juice
3 handfuls bean sprouts
2 zucchinis
1/2 large red pepper (or 1 small)
knob of ginger
1 cucumber
3 pears

Yes, I have started reintroducing food, but the detoxing doesn't just stop, of course. Even though this is a post-fast entry, I won't mention food, so hope it is ok with you, but I think it is interesting to share. My first day of post-fast was intense. I was freezing cold and looked wan and tired. Eating made my spirits low and I felt overall low. I was surprised, but I observed and took care of myself -- hot nice bath, and a juice. :) Then I had very intense dreams again last night. And now I realize that I still have muck to get through physically and mentally. I am proud of the 10 days I did, but it is not the end of the journey, nor can it be a drop in the bucket of my life. I can't go back, right? There is still work to be done.

And on that seeeerrrrrious note, have a wonderful weekend everyone! Welcome to the new fasters! Welcome welcome!!!

*BIG HUGS Missy and peace to you, your dad and your family. :)

Good day all! Day 5 here. I'm doing very very well. Yesterday I had only lemonade and water. Today I have pomegranate orange juice, apple juice, rooibos tea and water. It'll be interesting because this evening I'm going to meet some friends at a restaurant, and I've already planned to bust out my tea. I may feel a little weird, but I don't care. This is about me and my spiritual journey, not them. :) I still find it amazing when people find out you fast they are shocked and don't get that it's possible. THEN when they find out you fasted for so and so many days or you're in the midst of a fast they're even more shocked! If they're open I love to educate folks. If not, I just keep it moving. LOL :D

Anyway, my energy is through the roof. Last night I was tired physically but spiritually I really had a hard time falling off to sleep. I'm loving the fact that from day one I've been acclimating quite well to this fast, which tells me my body has been yearning for this. Tomorrow I'm really going to make it a point to go have a personal visit with Mother Nature.

Have a fantastic weekend and Saturday everyone. :)

Tguch, I KNEW you'd be back!!!! :jumping up and down:

This is DAY 16 for meeeeeee!!!!!!! How COOL!!!!

I feel like I've lost another pound, but I'm not getting on the scale... I don't want to be disappointed if I haven't and Scale watching is not my thang...

I finally feel like I'm back in the zone from when I chose to eat a few days ago.

I'm still loving the M/C! It's so much easier for me than juicing was...(I just make up a gallon every day and drink off of it, I don't even have to think about it)...but I may move to juicing after October. But, I'm not gonna focus on that right. I'm just gonna enjoy my day of fasting as they come!!!! :)

Have a wonderful Day of Fast everyone!!!!

(((HUGS))) I'm here! :)

I woke up feeling really good. Sense a relief in my body that it is glad that I will be fasting today so I'm in really good spirit today! Which is nice for a change, because most of the time I'm groaning that I have to get up, because I love being a snuggle bug!!! Well, I'm trying to change it where I just love to get up every morning. This morning was exactly how I wanted to get up!!! I see the winds of Heaven is at work here!! :D

I will be juicing carrots and apple for this morning. It's one of my favorite! And whenever I have this juice, my throat literally has a mind of it's own and really suck this juice in whenever I'm drinking it. It's kind of a strange experience, since I never had it with other juices so far!

So glad to be here and how happy my body is to be fasting!!

Good Morning fellow fasters... and thank you whoa. I am enjoying my day so far.
I'm sipping on my first qt. of water with a splash of lime juice. I will make some juices later on. Not sure yet what I'm wanting.

I really am just enjoying this Sabbath rest and wanting to really learn how to rest more.

I love everyones names and its so nice to have others to fast with..

Lady Awen... you are accomplitioning so much.... yes..yes..

Lady Aredhel, it is an honour to be standing on the same ground as you, sipping from the sacred waters of the earth. *bows head in respect as I reach out to touch the shoulder of my sister* Let us walk together...

Lady Winday, I love your enthusiasm... I can literally reach out and scoop it up in my hand and wash it over my body. Thank YOU!

Lady Swan, I am the same way when I'm around people. When I share that I'm fasting I can usually tell within seconds if they are open or closed. Their body language speaks volumes. If they are closed - I smile and either talk about something else or move on - If they are open I happily answer their questions. At this point in my life I seldom find people who are against my fast... instead it's more like this "I'm fasting again, of course *giggles*" and they respond, "Of course you are"

Katie, welcome (((hugs)))

Lady Lemon-Nee, I love your attitude. Take it as it comes, just relax and allow... go with the flow. Beautiful!

Lady Aryatara, you are not the first... most people experience this when they complete their fast and move back to solid foods. The 'fasting high' is gone. Your body is off vacation and back to work. This is also why so many people get hooked on fasting *smiles and points at myself*... I love the way I feel when I fast. I get all the nutrients I need so really... why bother feeling like I do when I eat solids???

Good morning everyone! (((group hug)))

Today has just turned into a shorter day than I expected. My daughter has decided not to spend 10 hours at the fair... instead she's only going for two and then off to hang out with a friend. *whew* That means I get to spend some of my day relaxing before I attend my friend's 60th birth day party tonight. I'm so pleased.

I'm sipping on some coconut water in this moment.

And I have something to share with you all. Coming off water... I was 141.6 pounds... this morning I'm 143.2 pounds. Yesterday I was 142.2 pounds. Very odd indeed...

I don't care about it, but wanted to share it in case anyone else experiences something like it on their future fasting journey and you'll know that it's happened before!

I am home from the fair... one hour in and out - we've never had that short of a day there ever. But... I'm soooo dizzy. It's good to be sitting down.

I am not looking forward to my nectarine juice at all. It's thick (I'll water it down) and sweet... not wanting sweet. But... I will drink it. It was a lovely gift and I'll take it.

Good morning everyone (or afternoon or evening depending on where you are right now)!

I just woke up from some intensely vivid dreams. They were scary! My dreams get pretty crazy when I fast.

Everyone has the best energy on this board today! The Fellowship has indeed grown in spiritual strength overnight it seems :) I love it!

This morning I did my dry skin brushing, drank water and had some orange/carrot/ginger juice. I was hoping for a bm. I've only gone twice since my fast started and this is day 5. There is movement in my belly but nothing more. Darn. I could always SWF if I get desperately uncomfortable, but I really don't want to resort to it. The good news is that I'm still dropping weight every day, which to me means that my body is still heavily detoxing. So exciting!

May the Fellowship continue to thrive today!

I am pleased... I just called the host of the party tonight and asked if I could bring my nectarine juice to be used as a punch and she happily accepted. Now I don't to drink it and I don't feel like it's going to waste either!

win-win situation!!!

Soooo happy!

Lady Laka... so nice to hear from you. Have you tried a litre of apple juice to move your bowels?

Hi all!!!

It has been so much fun fasting with you guys, but I'm gonna bow out today...

I wanted to go till the end of the month, but I just found out I've got another trip coming up and it's International and I know it will be impossible to bring lemons or juices. The trip isn't for a few days, but I'm choosing to stop today so that I can break the fast correctly and be ready for solid food by the time I'm ready to go.

Thank you all for the support!!! Vthus really has been so much fun!!!!! I *KNOW* I'll be back soon!!!!!

Hugs,

Lemon-Nee... may your breaking be gentle and kind to your body. Remember... with your first meal you should have a bowel movement within an hour... soaked prunes are an excellent breaking food if you need assistance in that department.

Oh wow!! What a day!!!! It's so so cool that I've fasted today and so proud of me for doing so!! It was not at all bad as I thought it was gonna be!! Not at all!!!! Def gonna get going on doing this once a week!!! Oh yeah!!! :)

The good that came out of this fast so far is that I found good answers for questions I've had for some time, my body is very happy, my brain feels very clear, I feel more grounded spiritually, and feel cleaner emotionally!!!

As of this moment, I'm drinking parsley/apple/green pepper/dash of raw honey/halfway diluted with water. Interesting mix that I've never had before. Might be good for those who don't want "sweet" minus the honey. It's bitter tasting without the honey.

We're home again. I'm trying to catch back up on this thread! I feel so far behind! Thank you all for your words of encouragement and for your prayers. They mean so much to me.

I did water fast for 24 hours and that sure helped me feel a lot better after the crazy week. It's hard to be so far from my mom. I'm just glad we have good family nearby. And she has a neighbor that is a cop and also plows for people during the winter. He said he will plow for her but he will not even think about charging her to do it! He even wants to help her with her coal stove this winter and bring in coal and take ashes out for her. He and his wife are super people.

Tomorrow night will be her first night alone. I know it will be hard for her. I was widowed almost 7 years ago. It is not a fun journey at all, but grief cannot be rushed and everyone handles it differently.

I am all set to juice tomorrow... DH is going to water fast some this coming week and I probably will too, along with juice as well. We both need to get our systems cleansed again.

miss... welcome home again. (((hugs)))

Lady Winday, so glad you found fasting so beneficial today. Have a great week! Oh and try replacing your green pepper (unripened fruit) with a ripe red, yellow or orange pepper. ;) You may find the taste is much nicer.

I am finding I just can't drink much juice at all. Very little at a time and only thin juices. My water fast sure changed the way my body wants nourishment. I had a beet/tom/red pepper juice tonight. It was nice but I couldn't drink too much. I think I'll try to stick with coconut water for the most part... and watered down cantaloupe juice. We'll see how things go.

just so you (and everyone knows...) the point of soaking the prunes is to make them softer so your body can digest them easier. when they are tough (kinda like jerky on the outside) that's hard on the digestion.

so in the future... you may want to soak them a little longer LOL

hope you are feeling GREAT!!!

ReneeH
09-18-2010, 08:46 PM
I am...THX!!!! I chewed them to the point of Liquifying.... I opened them up with my finger and then soaked them in Luke-warm water....which turned a nice light purple color. Soaking them longer would probably be even tastier!!!

Hello everyone....

I had my tomato/veggie juice tonight and it really hit the spot. I tried a little of it with 3 different spices (I just had to try them..LOL). I tried smoked paprika, smoked chipotle, and fajita. I have to say that my favorite was the smoked paprika. The chipotle one was just a little to spicey and the fajita one was "okay".

So one day down... yeah.. My husband and I are doing this fast together. We'll probably do 5 days and then a longer fast in October. The last part of this month is The Feast of Booths and we want to celebrate it with the children.

Hi Fellow fasters,
I am now on day 23, and I am feeling low on energy????
I have only had two glasses of carrot juice today, because I couldn't be bothered juicing the day's worth of mixed juices.
Is this normal for juice fasting?

I have been doing my own enemas, here at home to help with my BM, and my detoxing.

Oh well, better go and make myself something, I am actually feeling hungry! First time in ages.

Kazann :)

Aleesha Sattva
09-19-2010, 02:09 AM
Kazann... two glasses of juice is not enough on a juice fast. How much water did you consume? Try to get at least 2 litres (quarts) of juice into you daily... and up to 4-6 litres (although there is no max... If you want more have more).

That's why you have no energy... you aren't gifting your body any fuel.

Lady Aredhel, I can't imagine it would cost much at all. It could go in a letter envelope... just a little taste for me to try... a smidge of a smidge... *smiles*

I just got home from my friend's celebration. She turned 60 and threw herself a great party. I danced most of the night and ended the night chatting with a homeopath and we swapped cards, very interested in hiring each other. Ahhhh I see an exchange coming... I love exchanges!

I LOVE BEING THIN!!! I felt so good in my clothes... I looked so good in my clothes... ahhhhh what a lovely night!

Today was a very long and hard day at work. What was only supposed to be a 4 hour day turned into a 9 hour day, so I was only able to drink 2 glasses of juice. Surprisingly I had good energy and no hunger pangs... but now I am pooped! Tomorrow will be a long day, too, but at least I can prepare in advance!

Oh, and I did finally have a bm today! I just let my body rest for 10 minutes after drinking my morning juice and it did the work for me. I feel much lighter now :)

Hey good people,

Day 6 here and I feel grrrreat! I went out for dinner last night with some friends at a popular restaurant and it was no problem at all. they had meals I wouldn't partake in if I wasn't fasting anyway. I had some rooibos tea in my Mason jar and they had what they had. It just wasn't an issue as I'd told them before we went out. The only one that made a big deal out it, surprisingly, was the waiter...cute guy but seemed like he was wired on Red Bulls or something. :D Afterwards though I was so brain dead I couldn't find my car!! *laughing I'm sure that has happened to those of you that have fasted before or now as you fast. I just walked around the parking lot talking to myself, LOL. I'll be going to Bikram yoga this evening so we'll see how that goes. I'm loving this liquid fast! It's the best and my clothes are looser already! Things just aren't as important when you fast and I LOVE that too! Have a great day wherever you are! :)

I did have the Detox Tea this morning...maybe I shouldn't have... But, the only thing I've had since then is some Orange and Carrot Juice. I know that I need something else, but my Broth is still not quite ready and I don't know if I should stay on the Lemonade...

This transition is not an easy one for me... I have one more day to get myself together before I go to South America and I don't feel like I'm any where NEAR ready for solid foods...

I'm back from a weekend out of town, and I decided I don't want to wait until tomorrow to start my fast, so as of 1 pm today, I'm fasting! I know half a day doesn't really count, but whatever works. :P

I went to the store this evening and found ginormous grapefruits for 88 cents each, so of course I bought a bunch of them, and I'm currently enjoying some delicious grapefruit juice. I hope all are well, I haven't dug back through the last few days of posts yet - too tired right now.

Yay! Ok, my so my body needs to take an epic dump. The kind I won't try to describe in words, though it might help fertilize certain small countries for several decades, give or take a few months. I have Crohn's, and am on experimental medicines because my colon wall has almost swollen shut, and I have no parastaltic motion.

Point is, I feel the need to start my raw diet with a 2-day fast, and I'm having trouble with hunger and mainly, blood sugar. I have extremely low blood sugar, almost hypoglycemic range, and I keep going into rages (I am already Aspergian, which is a form of Autism) when I am fasting. What can I do??

Aleesha Sattva

Nice to see you back Lady Isenbella (((hugs)))

I have no advice for you Arc, you'll have to do some research on it. Whatever the raw foods are they recommend you eat... try juicing them???

I am finally well. My flu is over. I know this because I have barely wanted any juice since my water fast (and my flu began) and tonight all I want to do is drink more juice.

I had supper, second supper, dessert and second desserts... mmmm my belly is full of nectarine juice right now and I think I'm finally done for the night LOL

Two Reiki sessions tomorrow... definitely one of my favourite days of the year... when I get to do two sessions on the same client in one day. Ahhhh now that's bliss!

bliss-fully yours,

Its such an active board right now. I love that.

acr... just agreeing with Aleesha.. What foods (fruits and veggies) can you eat? And then juice them. A nice alkalizing juice with just a little fruit... Green lemonade (a head of romain, 1-2 lemons, 2 apples, a cucumber, and a piece of ginger).

We had a wonderful time at our friends house. I had my dinner juice and then I had my second dinner juice. And now I'm wishing I had a dessert juice, but I'm thinking I just need to go to bed.

I'm glad you are feeling better Lady Awen.

Lady Isenbella, I am so envious of your 88 cent grapefruits. I bought 2 small grapefruits yesterday and they were $6 total! Yeah... when you live on the most remote piece of land in the world, imports are insanely overpriced. I try to use local produce only, but I am addicted to grapefruit juice when I fast and they just don't grow out here :(

I just made the best juice I've ever had, and it was so simple too, I can't believe I didn't try this years ago: orange, cilantro and lime. Holy goodness gracious it was amazing!!! I sipped it as I watched the sun set into the ocean from my patio. Heavenly.

Oh, and Arc, I say you seem to have a lot of medical issues... medications, episodes, blood sugar issues and a colon that is swollen shut... maybe you should only fast under a doctors close supervision? I know it will be beneficial to you without a doubt, but you should certainly proceed to do some heavy research. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am going to try this. I haven't had much success with fasting in the past. Especially lunch time at work when everyone is asking "aren't you going to eat anything?!"

Let's see.....
I woke up in the middle of the night starving....& I drank way more juice than I did the other nights (& I didn't wake up then), so I got up & had a quick "shot" of juice then layed back down.

I need to have a BM. Is it normal to not go when you're doing a juice fast? Any suggestions?

I worked out today on the tredmil, did some interval training & worked the old abs! Felt good.

Have a glorious day everyone!!!!

NY, I wish I could mail you some. I'm definitely going to go back and get a bunch more, as they made great juice. I couldn't believe how huge they were, either.

Katie P - you might try some apple juice. That always works for me. :)

Good morning fasting ladies and elfen types. I do believe I'm going to start my day today with some cantaloupe juice and maybe add a sprinkling of cinnamons just because I can! Then it's off to my office to prepare for the first day of school - must make a bazillion copies of syllabi, schedules, HW sheets, etc. So I can work my tail off and drink my juices and just be a productive little worker bee.

I hope everyone has a blissful Monday. :)

Good Morning everyone,

So much activity on the board since I last logged in on Friday.

My weekend:

Friday Day 10

Workout – 1 hour warm yoga class

Nourishment - fresh juices as planned

Assessment – To whom ever asked about the yoga, unfortunately, I can’t give you a real assessment because the room was not HOT like my friend assured me it would be. Let me preface the rest of this by saying “I’ve led a very active life for many years and I’ve always been able to push myself so I might not be the best person to advise”. Continuing on…This was not the actual Bikram yoga but I was under the impression that the room would be hot. At any rate, I broke a very light sweat but I enjoyed the class very much. Because I had my heart set on heat and sweating, I went into the sauna for 20 minutes immediately after the class. I drank coconut water throughout the class and sauna. To my surprised, I never felt light headed or dizzy once. Not during all the crazy awesome yoga poses or during the sauna. I loved it and body loved that sauna!!!

Saturday Day 11

Workout – Finally decided to take a day off from workout but man did I stay busy

Nourishment – Only consumed about 32 oz of fresh juices total for the day

Assessment – I really did not want to taste juices today. I went so long on only 16 oz that I was starting to feel hungry and had thoughts of breaking my fast. I was at my son’s second sports game for the day at around 5:30 p.m. I was even battling the thoughts before leaving home to go to the game. I took a note pad and pen with me to the game. I sat there and wrote all the reason why it would be a bad idea to break my fast and that I just needed to drink. I couldn’t wait to get home and drink some juice. I finally got home around 7:00 p.m. and I made a huge glass of coconut water with a little raw cacao powder. It was the best tasting juice ever. I was so thrill when I awoke the next morning and hadn’t done something stupid like breaking my fast. What actually got me through it was recalling my experiences with past fasts. I recalled how I’ve always regretted breaking a fast before I was ready. I was not about to allow myself to feel like that again. I knew true hunger had not returned because simple fruit and vegetables did not make me want to do cart wheels.

Sunday Day 12

Workout – ran 10 miles

Nourishment – minimum fresh juices to my surprised.

Assessment – Well, Sunday was an awesome day for me. I did not take my first drink of the day until 3:00 p.m. because I was busy, content, and had no desire for juice. It concerned me a little because I knew I was planning to run 10 to 13.2 miles later that evening. At any rate, I did drink 16 oz of juices for the day before starting my run at 6 p.m. I ran with two 10 oz containers of freshly frozen coconut water. That water was so amazingly good as I ran mile after mile. I had to stop at 10 miles because it started to get dark. My body felt so good and I have no doubt that I could have done the entire 13.2 if I’d had enough time to finish. I didn’t start sooner because the temperature was still 90 degrees when I started in Georgia. At a time when one would have expected me to be weak (considering I’d been fasting for 12 days, had only 16 oz of juice, 90 degrees outside, and running mile after mile), I was strong. I was so strong in fact that I sprinted most of the last two miles since I knew I did not have time to do the entire 13.2. I was flabbergasted that I still had enough energy to sprint near the end of my run. I am not advocating that anyone workout the way that I do. As I stated earlier, my body is accustomed to working out daily. I am just sharing how amazingly strong the body can be even while fasting.

To those consuming tomato juices, how much juice are you getting? I spent $15 on vine ripe tomatoes yesterday and they made only 16 oz of juice for me. They were about $2.70 per lb so I guess I ended up with about 5.5 lbs. I used my manual juicer and other than coconut water, it’s the only juice that I truly enjoy. However, that’s just super expensive for 16 ounces of juice. Just wondering if you are getting more than that when juicing tomatoes.

Right now I am sipping on a carrot, apple, and celery juice. It always amazes me when I get to the point that I can taste the sodium from the celery juice. I mean I can really taste the salt even though there is no salt added to this concotion.

Side note, I just threw away the remainder of carrot and orange after first tasting it and hating the taste. Then I tasted the apple, ginger, grape juice and threw it away also. I won't be buying anything else but coconut water and lemon juice and tomatoe when I feel like spending the money on them.

Good Morning everyone...

I'm bringing the balloons to Aleesha's party, and the tomato juice ;) Congrats on 100 days!!

I can't imagine having to pay $3.00 a grapefruit! I always thought that a warm island would have everything. You learn something new everyday .

freedom... congrats on not breaking your fast!

NY... that juice does sound yummy. I'll try it later on today.

katiep.... everyone is different while juice fasting. Some will poop everyday and some will hardly poop. Some go a few days in between. If you really feel like you need to... try apple juice like allergy suggested!

freedom.. my tomatoes cost around $1.50 a lb. I buy about 10 lbs. a week. I use about 6 tomatoes in my juice every night, but I also add other veggies to round it out... like celery, cilantro, bell pepper, cucumber, garlic, ginger, and red onion!! Okay.... I'm wanting some juice now **giggle**

I'm doing great on this side. I just love the coated tonge thing  But really, I'm enjoying my juices so much.

Today I am starting to paint my garage. We use it for our business and would like it to look a little more "store like" instead of "garage like". So I'll be taping and mudding and painting for the next few days, but thats okay because I love painting.

I think for today its going to be some more green lemonade, and I'll try that yummy sounding juice from NY. And of coarse some tomato/veggie.

See you all later,
Cathy :D

Congrats Aleesha on your day 100 and Freedom on not breaking your fast. About your work out routine and level of fitness Freedom...WOW! If I could just be able to run about 4 or 5 miles a week I'd be happy! :) Thanks also for the feedback about hot yoga. I'm going to try it Friday evening.

I'm finding I'm extremely high in energy from when I wake up until around 4ish pm or so then it slllowwwly and steadily dips. Then I become irritable and just annoyed. It's frustrating. I really and truly hope as I continue this fast that it's not like this. If it is then so be it. :) I've had rooibos tea, lemonade and water today. Will try and juice tomorrow. We also picked up some grapefruits. They were 79 cents each so my hubby will make me some tomorrow... mmmm I can't wait! It's been ages since he's made me grapefruit juice. He didn't like the sunkist ones we were getting here so he stopped buying them. But today... he found some with a thinner skin (he finds they juice better) and bought them. Busy day today, but I was glad it was... It helped me get through the day. I have wonderful coworkers and they were glad to have me back, but kept expressing their sympathy thru the day. Sis and I are trying to keep up with Mom and check in with her often. I'm so thankful for great family and friends that are around her.

I want to take a moment to thank each one of you. This is such a big day for me and I know that of everyone around me... you all understand the importance of this day!!!

I just made the absolute best tomato blend of my life!!!

I used a shallot (yes finally got some today), a green onion, one small carrot, 1/4 slice of lime, 1/2 c of fennel and 1/2 c of celery and then about 8 tomatoes. I added a little bit of oil and liquid smoke. Put in a bit of kelp and a small dash of cumin... and oh mama... I topped it with a little smoked sea salt and it was DIVINE!!!

I could honestly have another if I thought I could make it taste exactly the same. It was sooooooooooooooo good. mmmmmm What a perfect juice on a perfect day!!!

2 Reiki sessions.

Pineapple juice
Cantaloupe juice
Perfect Tomato juice

Tell me some wonderful things you've experienced in your 100 days of fasting::::

Is it normal to feel bloated on a juice fast? That's how I feel right now. I'm on day 3

Wow, I'm just now catching up on the last few pages here... love catching up! Congratulations to you, Aleesha on day 100!!! And congratulations to everyone else who has made it as far as they are in their fast! We rock! So blessed to have an inspiration such as our Lady Awen :)

Today I just HAD to make myself another divine orange/cilantro/lime juice. I think I have a new addiction. What is different about this juice than any other so far is how FULL I feel afterwards. I usually don't get so full after a 10 ounce juice, but this really fills me up! Maybe it is bc I find this drink to be spiritually fulfilling as well, and sip it slowly and mindfully. Mmmm... wish I had more oranges so I could have more tonight!

I envy those with access to 88 cent and 79 cent grapefruits... I wish I could have you ship them to me (agricultural laws won't allow it)! Enjoy the lovely taste of my favorite fruit for me. I broke down and purchased 2 small grapefruits today for $5... eek! I'm craving grapefruit juice, though... had to do it! It's going to be tomorrows breakfast... I can't wait! I suppose, being in Hawaii and all, I should be juicing pineapple? Perhaps I will do just that in honor of our Lady Awen's 100 day celebration!

i'm definitely a little bloated today too, katie... probably part of the cleansing process.

i had water and 32 oz orange juice today. i wasn't feeling like anything else, which is pretty unusual for me so early in a fast. also i'm usually only really into the sweet juices but reading about everyones' tomato blends has me drooling a little. just goes to show no two fasts are ever the same.

aleesha what is liquid smoke? i have smoked sea salt...

i did a two hour martial arts class tonight and felt pretty good except a moment where i started feeling nauseous and knew i had to drink some water. i did and it was fine. i definitely had less energy than usual, but i'm pretty proud of myself for making it through. i have a test tomorrow, so i'll try to get more juice in me so my body has some more fuel.

gonna crack a coconut before bedtime and go to sleep! sweet juicy dreams everyone. :)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I didn't think drinking juice could make me bloated. The body is an amazing thing....sometimes I just don't understand it!

Aleesha Sattva
09-20-2010, 10:22 PM
Katie, we don't need to understand it, we just need to step aside so it can do what it needs to to heal. (((hugs)))

Liquid smoke: it's a liquid that tastes like the smoke in your smoked sea salt. I found it in our specialty grocery store and bought it. It makes my tom juice amazing. Only a few drops though... don't over do it!

Katie, (((hugs)))

Okay... you asked what wonderful things I've experienced?

I have found a deep sense of 'ability'. I never thought I could ever do this. I never believed I would make it to triple digits - even though my hope was to make it here - I never really thought I would when I first began this fast. But my head really got into this fast and once my head was in it... that was it. It was way easier to fast.

I've - once again - experienced that my body can eliminate all on it's own. No need for enemas, colonics or SWFs. I even had two today!

I've discovered that if I don't allow myself a single smidge of a slip up... that fasting is way easier. In past fasts when I allowed myself just a tiny taste... on the tongue... nothing to swallow... the next days of my fast were pure heLL... pure and total. I would struggle to stay fasting. This fast... I haven't allowed myself to do that cause I didn't want to have to struggle.

So I've discovered that it's actually easier to stay on course than to stray.

And... so many others but I just don't have the time or desire to sit and think of them all and list them here LOL but there have been many!

I decided to treat myself to second supper. Make another tom juice and loved it equally to the first. The shallots are really adding a lovely onion flavour to my juice and I'm loooooving it!!! Hubby is going to crack me open a coconut for dessert in a bit. I want to finish absorbing my tom juices first though LOL

Beckx, I find that if I drink more juices (like some every hour) I have way more energy to do things that need getting done. Hope that assists you as well. (((hugs))) So nice to be fasting with you on this day Beckx. So nice!

Hey good people,

beckx, I'm not doing oils and congrats on your day 3!

Still doing my thing over here and feeling great. I'm on day 8. Freedom thanks for the feedback about my fatigue in the evenings getting better, even if it was one statement. :) Will let you know about Bikram yoga for sure. I really think the fatigue is due to being sedentary all day at the day job, because when I left yesterday and got some fresh air I felt better ....also when I went to the gym I had to stop myself from working out so hard so I wouldn't hurt myself. My energy was great! I was ready to do it all and my music really got me in the groove. So, this is good to know.

Does anyone ever have a time of it falling off to sleep when they retire for the evening? It's like my physical body is tired but some other part of me is still amped up. Usually I fall right off to sleep. It doesn't happen every evening though...interesting...

Have a great day all! :D

Monday Day 13

Workout – Day off

Nourishment – minimum fresh juice

Assessment – Not liking the juices continue to be a problem it’s something I am going to have to work through. The farmer’s market won’t b getting any more coconuts for 2 weeks. So in the interim, I will use the lemon / agave thingy and tomatoes when reasonable priced. I’m also planning to visit a different market to look for the coconuts when I get a chance. This is my only struggle thus far. I might buy a juicer today just to try some of the tomato combinations that I’ve been reading about from some of you. I hate to buy it only because it won’t get a lot of use.

Zuri, I didn’t say much because I continue to hear that everybody is different and I don’t want to share something that might not be good for you. I’m one of those people who’s never experience any negative detox symptoms at least not that I’ve noticed. Heck, I’ve never had a headache before and people find that weird about me. My point is that I’m constantly made to feel like the exception rather than the norm so that causes me to be careful about what I say. I have a huge heart and I would never intentionally tell anyone anything that might harm them. I can’t wait to hear your opinion on yoga.

On the other hand, I don’t mind answering direct questions about myself if anyone has them.

beckx, i do oils. not daily... but whenever my body asks for them. there's a new vegetarian 3-6-9 (renew life) at my health food store that i'm adding to my tom blend.

congrats on day 3!!! yip yip yippppppppppeeeeeee

free that is huge... (about my juice). on another note: why not see if you can borrow a juicer? i know that when i started juicing the woman at the health food store actually offered to lend me her champion for my fast! seriously (ya this is a small town) but she didn't even know me. if you ask around... perhaps a friend has one in a cupboard that they don't use. otherwise, do you have a blender? you can blend up the food, put it in a nut mylk bag and squeeze the juice out. works great.

well today is day 101 and i'm ready for my Reiki client to come for her last session and a re-attunement. then i have a new raw food client this afternoon. another busy day :D

i just wanted to give a little update:

since i did my water fasting... i've gone up 5 pounds! i believe it's water retention. i find it very odd indeed. i'm not concerned about it but i wanted to share in case anyone else goes through something like this. i couldn't have been dehydrated when i was water fasting because i was drinking so much water (around 6 litres a day)... but i've gained a little weight every day since i went back on juices.

i can't do a high-water day until the weekend cause i have too many activities outside the house but i'll see if that assists when i do it.

Hello fellow fasters! I am on my first juice fast and am happy to have stumbled upon you. I started out with an intention of doing 3 days, which turned into 7, then 21 and now 30... So it's my 26th day and it has been very easy for me but I have a few questions that perhaps you might be able to answer.

A few days ago I started spitting up some green mucus (we hardly know each other - sorry to be so gross). Usually green goo is a sign of an infection. Is this anything to be concerned about or is it a good thing, just my body getting rid of some old stuff (yahoo!)?

Also, I just weighed myself, first time since Thursday, and I haven't lost any weight at all. I lost about 20 lbs so far - 15 of which was in the first week - but sure could stand to loose another 10 or so. I have been exercising (swimming, weight training and yoga). On day 23 I did my first water fast (thought I might as well, being a Jewish holiday/fast day). Why is my body insisting on holding on to my belly and thighs? (lol). Loosing weight is not my primary reason for fasting but it sure is an added benefit. =)

Third question is about sleep. I am not tired but am not sleeping very much. I am having problems falling asleep. I thought that fasting would be helpful in establishing healthy sleep patterns. (Got off of Ambien, a sleep aide, before fasting).;)

Thank you and happy fasting!

I just have to see if I'm losing my mind, because I'm Suzanne too - though nobody here knows that... or at least they didn't. :P

The sleep thing is what I went through when I went raw. I wasn't able to fall asleep until about 2-3 a.m. and then would only sleep for 5 hours. I still only sleep about 5 hours, but I'm able to fall asleep a little bit earlier now. The biggest thing for me was to just stop trying to force myself to go to sleep because I thought I should be sleeping, and let my body do whatever it felt it needed to do. Now I'm able to lay down and read for a while, and most nights once I stop and turn off the light, I go right to sleep for my 5 hours.

Hang in there - not sure about the goo, but I hope that helps with the sleeping anyway. And it's nice to meet you Suzanne. :D

Congrats on 26 days so far Suz! Good job!

Have no idea about the green mucus, the sleep... well sleep is on and off again with fasting... and since you were using a sleep aide... I would give it more time for you to get into a natural sleep cycle. Meditation helps tremendously.

And releasing weight... your body slows it's metabolism when you fast. I find doing days of water helps to release some weight but honestly... I find my body shape and size decreses even though the scale stays the same. So I tend to ignore the scale and look at my body instead. If I like how I feel and what I see... I don't worry about it.

That said... releasing weight on the scale is a nice perk of any lifestyle. ;) And one I love to enjoy too.

Just had a nice bath and I'm settling in - getting ready for my client. later folks!!!

Not sure how I'm feelin about this juice fasting. I am bloated & my tummy is rumblin'....I have NOOOO idea what is going on. Not only do I feel like this, but I was hoping I'd release some weight or something. My clothes are fitting the same...hmmmmm...;(

Health is numero uno for me, releasing weight is secondary...but it would be a nice bonus. I can't imagine I'd be detoxing! I just did the MC less than a month ago. Good grief ;)

Tomorrow is day 5!

How much water?

Maybe 5 -6 cups??? Whenever I drink water it doesn't satisfy any hunger so I find myself drinking more juice.

Aleesha Sattva
09-21-2010, 10:31 PM
try to up that to a minimum of 2 litres (quarts) per day. start off with one litre first thing in the morning, then everytime you pee drink 1/2 a litre. do this until noon. see if that doesn't assist with your bloating. :)

your water isn't there to satisfy your hunger... it's there to hydrate your body!

Countess Suzanne, your first juice fast sounds similar to my first juice fast. It was about 3 years ago and my goal was 3 days, then 7, 10, 14, and I ended up going 26 days. It was a GREAT fast! My weight loss completely stopped at day 14... so for 12 days I lost nothing, which baffled me. Who doesn't eat for 12 days and not lose weight? I learned to just trust my body. It was after I broke the fast that the weight just fell off. I lost an additional 8 lbs in a month by eating raw foods. Changed my life! Like you, I experienced mucus, too. I coughed up green mucus for weeks, but I wasn't sick. As far as I was concerned, it was my body expelling some of the loosened up mucus that had been sitting in my body for who knows how long. Better out than in, I say!

It's really interesting to hear of others sleep experiences. Usually when I fast I alternate between sleeping for almost 12 hours a night to thriving on about 5 or 6. No matter what, I always wake up refreshed. However, with this fast I wake up feeling soooo tired, no matter how long I've slept. It takes me a really long time to wake up. I can't even open my eyes when I'm taking my morning tinkle, lol!!! My dreams are disturbingly vivid, too.

Oh, and good news, I had a bm today after juicing my $6 grapefruits. Totally worth the price, haha!

I'm on day 5 & the first 2 days I didn't wanna get out of bed for the life of me, but these past few days I've been going to bed around 11 & waking up @ 6 ready to go.

My dreams are also very vivid....& very intense too!

Aleesha, thanks for the advice. I'll try that. Juicing is so new to me. It's kinda funny that I've been raw for almost 2 years but have never done a juice fast! All other fasts I've done I've lost weight & didn't feel bloated, so this is all fascinating to me. It's like it's reversing my health LOL...I KNOW it's not ;)

Tuesday - Day 14

Workout - Jogged 35 minutes

Nourishment - fresh juices (only drank about 20 ounces) because I had only enough tomatoes for 10 ounces and I forced lemonade for the other 10.

Overall Assessment for Week 2:
With the exception of not liking the juices, everything else was great. However, not liking the juices is major because that’s my only food. I’m working on it. Hope to find some coconuts somewhere today.

Sleep: Still sleeping so well..a much deeper sleep than usual.

Healings: Nothing noticeable this week.

Weight: Lost another 4 lbs. Total loss of 13 lbs and am now down to 120 lbs. I am very happy with my size but want to lose 5 more to compensate for the minimum gain when resumming eating. The weight loss has been slowing tremendously. This is my one big motivator and I can’t see myself continuing if the weight is not coming off. I know others feel differently but I am just being completely honest. I went back to look at my original goals but this one should have been at the top of the list. No matter how I try to down play it, it’s a huge factor for me. I am going to give it another week and as long as there is at least 3 lbs lost then I will continue, otherwise, I will move to a raw food fast to see if that will restart the weight loss.

Aleesha, thanks for sharing your experience regarding the weight gain. I wonder if the gain is due to metabolism slowing down even more during the water fast. So then your body requires even less calories to maintain current weight. Just a thought. Please keep me posted on this because I am considering alternating between water and juice days in order to lose a few more lbs but I don’t want to do anything that will cause me to gain more.

Again, I know weight doesn’t matter to many of you and I respect that so please respect that I am just being blatantly honest about the fact that it matters to me and I don’t want to do anything that might cause me to gain.

Hey good people,

Well Freedom, you gotta go with what you feel. This is all about you and as long as you're not hurting yourself or others forge on! Weight does matter to me even though I don't use a scale. I go by how my clothes fit, and how I feel in my body. In saying that one of my main reasons for fasting is to reset my metabolism Freedom, lose probably I'm guessing..around 15-20 pds, get into the habit of working out, meditating more consistently, taking a break from food and resetting my taste buds. Sometimes you just gotta take a BREAK from foods. When I feel comfy in my body all is well internally and externally.

On day 9 here. Yesterday I was fatigued. Today I feel great thus far. Got a craving for some juice so today I made some pineapple juice and a juice of green romaine, cuc, gala and granny smith apples. It's almost time to go to the health store to re-up! I'm loving being able to go back and forth between the lemonade, herbal teas and fruit/veggie juices. I wish wish wish, I could get ahold of some young green coconuts. I don't buy the ones in the market. I did order some new herbal teas too....exciting! Anywho, have a great day folks! :)

Thanks for the feedback Zuri. I like your goals. I think it helps to have other goals. It's just harder for me to focus on the other goals becaus I am not drinking enough which is causing me to think about food more and more. I know what the problem is I just can't help the fact that I don't like any of the juice that's available to me at this very moment.

Of course, I will look for a solution duing lunch.

Good Morning Everyone,

Its great to see how everyone is doing. So encouraging!!

Well.. I'm back to the food world. We have a wonderful fall holidays coming up starting tomorrow and we have been looking forward to it for a long time.

I'll be back in the beginning of October. I hope to do a longer fast then.

I'm still starting my days off with lots of water.... at least a qt. in the mornings. Such a good way to get those fluids in.

free, there is no disrespect and no judgement here in this thread. you are surrounded by fasters and we support you 100% period. (((hugs)))

the water retention is from the liquid smoke and the salt in my tom blend. i know this for a fact. i did a little experiment and figured it out. i'm going to water fast today to release the water retention... and clean out my body from the residue of the smoke. i'll be sure to use it sparingly and not daily from here on out.

going from water to juice does not make you gain weight. there's nothing in juice for your body to hold on to! so no worries there for you.

if you want to increase your weight release... switch up to straight water (around 4-6 litres per day) for a couple of days... then transition back to juices for at least 2 days before breaking your fast. it's essential you break a water fast with juice, NOT SOLIDS. absolutely essential.

the reason weight release slows and often stops while we are fasting is because our metabolism slows itself down. it does the same with water fasting. you'll release large amounts of weight at first and then it slows... it seldom stops on water simply because the ONLY fuel it can get is from your body fat... there is nothing in water for energy. but even with water... you'll begin at 2-4 pounds in the first day(s) and slow to .5 a pound release after 3-7 days.

this is another reason why breaking your fast with soft fruits is a good choice. adding in anything with fats in it will only cause your body to grab them and store them for later - because your body doesn't know the fast was your choice and not survival.

i have a busy day today. hubby has a dr appt and i have a student for tarot. so i'll be back later.

(((hugs))) to miss... and (((hugs))) to free... and here's some ((((hugs)))) for anyone who needs one or two or three or...

Thanks Aleesha. You are so filled with fasting wisdom. I copied that post for referral as I continue this journey. I really appreciate the detailed response as it was very enlighten.

As for my food delima.... I went to Whole Foods and paid the big bucks for a quart of pineapple/mango/orange. Now that one I like but I just didn't want to pay the money. The not so good news is that I also bought pasturized 100% coconut water as an emergency drink until I can find some fresh ones. My point is that I will settle for drinking it "if necessary" rather than breaking my fast before I'm ready.

Still here! Today is DAY 3. :D (Would have been day 4 except day 1 was a bust.)

Also doing 1-2 hour walks every day. Day 1 was exhausting. Day 2 was energetic. Not sure how today is going to go, but I do know it is going to be juicy.

Favorite juices so far:

Spinach, parsley, apple, lemon

Napa cabbage, tomato, cilantro, celery, cucumber, red hot pepper, lime, sprinkled heavily with dulse and kelp flakes, smoked salt, and paprika (leaving out the salt next time)

Juicing a honeydew and mint for today. Probably a low glycemic savory juice for tonight.

So happy I'm finally making this HAPPEN! :D

Salutations fasters. Thank you for your replies and good wishes. I was really tired last night so the falling asleep thing was not an issue. I will try meditating next time I have problems. The green goo is lessening and as NYButterfly said..."better out than in..."! :p I am trying to clear out lots of stuff (near fatal accident 6 yrs ago, lots of surgeries and anastesia (sp?), etc.), so maybe my body is doing its thing. Feeling kinda blah and blue today (day 27), think I'll stop at 30. Any experiences w/ emotional releases anyone? Also, any experiences/knowledge of healing damaged nerves through fasting?

I just tried juicing jicama (sp?). Not bad, better mixed w/ beets and cucumber (still so so though). I must admit, I do not love most of the juices, but that's okay. I did try tomato and celery - yum! I thought I'd read somewhere not to do tomatoes, but since you guys rave about it... :)

Off to swimming (in a chlorine pool, but that's okay - I love being in the water, regardless). Have a great day, w/ or w/out solid food. :)

Happy fasting!

Best,
Suzanne

Suzanne, tomatoes are soooo good for your skin! When I juice toms every day I don't need any sunscreen as it's a natural sunscreen!

If you aren't enjoying your juices I recommend you change it up. Make them simple. Just one ingredient... like cantaloupe or apple for example. Keep it simple.

Emotional detox is part of fasting... so yup... lots of experience with that one!

Take some time and read the fasting threads here... there is soooo much info in them. Great way to increase your knowledge. :)

Hello...Hello...Hello!!!!!!!! Boy, have I missed you guys!!!!

But.....GUESS WHAT? Yep, I've been back on my M/C Fasting for 2 DAYS!!!! :D I did break my fast and eat 2 days when during my trip, but my stomach pains kept returning and I REALLY missed my fasting!!! I really did!!! So, I found a way to do it while I was out of town!!!! :D

I don't know whether to count this as DAY number 2 or number 18...From Aleesha's earlier post, I think I can continue counting from when I left off from Day 16....??? is that right???

I hope so, cuz that's a whole lot more encouraging!!! Also, I did gain 3 pounds back from breaking the fast, but I still show a 12 POUND LOSS THIS MORNING!!!!!!!!

I don't want to ruin what I've done and I'd like to add to it, so I'm staying on my fast a little longer!!! :) I'm not gonna stress myself out thinking of an ending date, I'll just go with the flow and listen to my body. :D

Oh, BTW, my friend who had started the fast with me stopped yesterday because she found out she is pregnant. She wanted to continue anyway, but I didn't think that would be a good idea...was I wrong?

Thx,

Wow, everyone seems to be doing great today! That's super!
Aleesha, it actually crossed my mind about the liquid smoke being a problem but I've only used it once in my life and it seemed salty to me. I hadn't tried it in juice, though. I never really liked it when I tried it in food, though, so didn't think I'd care for it in my juice. I'm glad you figured out what was going on.
I'm juice fasting for the next 3 days. Feeling some better and less emotional other than feeling bad for Mom and all she's going through.
Got hair color in my hair (I only use natural hair color, which I love, but I wish I could just let my hair go and accept the gray!), toilet cleaner in the toilets and laundry to be put away, so I'd better get moving!
Just wanted to check in while I had a minute.

It's not a good idea for her to fast while she's pregnant... so it's good she stopped.

You can continue on... but eating for two days is not fasting. One slip up meal is different... 2 full days is a different thing altogether... BUT... that said... if it helps you to stay on course... add it on. Who cares anyway... it's YOUR fast, your choice and your path. So do what assists you most!!!

Just wanted to check in while I had a minute.

I'm glad you did! (((hugs)))

great job everyone, congratulations on another day!

welcome back renee! i say start at whatever number you want.

suzanne, congrats on 27 so far! i had some emotional release today, crying over nothing on television several times... it happens in many ways and its all for the best in my opinion.

interesting about the liquid smoke, aleesha. i bought some yesterday; tried a similar tomato blend to the one you ladies have talked about but thought it was just so so. i guess i'm not really into savory juices, even for green juice i usually add some apple. so i won't miss the smoke; i'm sure someone else will use it though.

today was day 4... it was my first day of wanting to eat so far on this fast, but i don't think i was ever in real danger of giving in. i had a hard two hour martial arts test last night and then did about two hours of landscaping today. feeling ok, not great energy. by the end of the landscaping i was definitely weepy and tired and just wanted to lie down and not talk to anyone. now i'm fine. i haven't wanted much juice so haven't been drinking as much as i probably should. my mood has been pretty good though, honestly.

trying to figure out what to take to work tomorrow; i'll be at a training from 8-4. maybe i'll try my hand at another soup juice, seems less strange than just drinking juice while everyone else is eating.

have a great night!

Hey all,

Wow, congrats beckx for persevering through the martial arts test for two hours THEN landscaping for two hours! *hi five....

Well, I could really use some encouragement right now. I'm having doubts about my reasons in being on this fast. Unbelievably it has nothing to do with cravings or wanting to break it to eat! I feel like the odd person out honestly. Usually this doesn't get to me whatsoever, but for some reason this time around it is. I just began to think, "Why am I doing this? What am I trying to prove to myself? This is so extreme, nobody else is doing this. I feel so up and down with my energy. Nobody seems to really "get" fasting that I come in contact with. This could be the result of my energy being low, I don't know and I've never had these thoughts before. What do you all think? It's kind of like walking into a room full of people but nobody notices you is how I feel. Personally, I do have goals to meet, I just feel confused. I hope I'm making sense. It's 12 am here so hopefully I'm not talking like a crazy woman!

Thanks all! :)

Lady Swan,

Do people have to get it? Are you fasting for them? No. Sounds like you are not sure why you're fasting... but I can pretty much guarantee that you aren't fasting for them. (((hugs))) Sleep on it and see if you find your focus again. AND remember... you can always stop fasting. Just cause you stop fasting doesn't mean you can't fast again later. (Look at lovely Lemon-Nee!!!) you can change your mind... there's no rules here. Just follow your heart.

Beckx, Oh I looooove the smoke in my juice but it was good tonight without it as well. So I'm pleased. Have you tried a beet juice with apple, spinach and ginger? It's niiiiiiiice.

I'm sooooo bloated. I'm pondering if it's the shallots. I know that if I eat raw onions or garlic I bloat huge. I'm used to the garlic in my juice every night and I'm used to having green onion but the shallots are new. I have to say though... I don't feel like I've released any of the water retention I'm having... so it may be a combo??? I'm just thinking out loud folks... trying to figure out/learn from this situation.

Ciao. Thanks for your response, Aleesia. I guess I'd read somewhere (on the internet - so it MUST be true) that having tomato juice on a juice fast will get your digestion going and thus make you hungry. Thanks to you, I am now totally enjoying my tomato w/ celery juice.

Per your suggestion, I will try simpler veggie juices. I also read somewhere not to mix veggies w/ fruit in juice, the exception being apples. Another internet myth? Also, I heard ages ago about the melon thing: to "eat (drink) them alone or leave them alone." I try to limit my fruit juice, but have found that cantaloupe juice (creamy), peach juice (divine!), pineapple juice w/ a few strawberries (yum!), or pear juice (slurp) are all awesome. I just got some organic kiwis I'm looking forward to trying. My blueberry experiment was a dud... :o

I will read some more of the posts here and gather more information, although I think I might be winding down and may cease fasting after Saturday (day 30). This seems to be the hardest week thus far and I've been thinking about how wonderful eating food would be...

Congrats to all you on your fasting feats and to you, Aleesia, on triple digit fasting.

I've tried blueberry as well and wasn't fond of it. Tooooooo thick.

Veggies and fruit can be mixed... but if you are food combining then you won't want to. That said... it's usually sweet fruits not fruit like tomato, cucumber, zucchini etc.

from flagler pier...

Hi all,

I had a great fast a couple weeks back that I was able to stick to for seven days. It was mostly all water with a couple/few drinks of coconut juice or lemon water. I broke it gently over a two and a half day period. I can't recall if I have posted in this thread since that week or not. I don't recall, as we've been quite busy since that week. My wife and I finally took some time out of our busy schedule to go watch the waves from Flagler Pier a couple evenings back.

It amazes me how much more acceptable things are to me during a fast. Lifes little and large pressures are totally manageable, whereas while eating they often overwhelm me. Since the fast I am having much less problems with my digestion. I am so glad I have fasting as a tool to work with when needed. It also seems to have improved some other health issues by a large measure. Likewise, the encouragement and support from members here has helped greatly.

This was my second fast in a little less than a year that I was able to continue for seven days. ON the second or third day of it, I had to take a two legged flight and was a little queasy, but it too was much more manageable than I anticipated. With what all took place that week I also missed a couple nights sleep (not good, I know), but amazingly I was no worse for the wear. I am feeling much better as a result of that weeks abstaining from food, and some other healing that has taken place since. The fast helped me deal with things that week, that I was not really prepared to deal with. Following the fast I was introduced to another healing therapy that worked wonderfully for me also.

I just wanted to check in and say hi, and thanks for the fasting support. I had also purposed to keep away from the computer for the week and did a fairly good job of that too. While I am proud of myself for what I accomplished, I am also greatly humbled by all the kindness and generosity that family and friends have bestowed upon my wife and me.

Life is good!

p.s. mental note made of the peppermint oil trick. Here's a thought.....you might soak some wood toothpicks in some for future use while out and about. You'd probably want to store them in a glass vial, as I think the oil may dissolve the typical plastic toothpick holder.

Zuri, when it comes to other people, the one thing I always remember is that I definitely want to do what they are not doing when it comes to health. Just look around you because I know you don’t have to look very far. I can care less what the main stream has to say, what they think, or what they suggest when looking at the American population’s health. I know plenty people who are doing what the doctors, the media, and others tell them and they are fat, sick, and depress. So when it comes to my health, I don’t mind being “abnormal” considering the alternative. And remember, the average person thinks a triple bypass or gastro bypass surgery is just the norm while considering a fast to be extreme. Go figure…. Cutting open body part with a knife is NOT extreme? Sorry, I can get a soap box when it comes to this topic but I hope you see my underlying point. Just go with what you know makes sense intuitively. I think about how I feel on a fast verses how I’ve felt in the past stuffing myself with the type of junk that should be illegal to eat. No one said a single word to me while eating that junk but the moment I consume a glass of green juice, they have something to say. Again, go figure. Zuri, follow your gut instinct on this one but whatever you do, don’t consider other people who does not represent the picture of health that you desire. Sorry, but I have a hard time controlling myself on this subject. But much love is what I’m trying to convey here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

I'm so glad you're sticking with it Freedom.

*laughing...it's cool Freedom, thanks a lot for the feedback as well as Aleesha, thanks a lot. You're completely right Freedom and I agree with you. Great comparison with gastic bypass surgery and fasting. I'd choose fasting over that any day! I won't be stopping my fast. I think I have some other things that are bothering me to work through that don't have to do with the fast but because I'm fasting it's showing up as being because of the fast.....hehe..hope that made sense. :) Some part of me is also probably testing my own self.

Anyway, onward! Today I have some honeybush tea, pineapple juice, golden delicious apple juice, and a mix of gala, grapefruit and orange juice. I didn't feel drawn to veggie juice today. For me when I fast I lean toward more fruit juices. I guess you just have to settle in with going to the bathroom all the time too! For those of you lucky enough to be at home to go potty as often as you'd like, that's great!

I see all of you write about doing the tomato blends and such....poooo, I can't due to it causing inflammation. Sounds deelish though!

Thanks again for the support, I really appreciate it. Have a great day all! :-)

Hi all,

I think I have some other things that are bothering me to work through that don't have to do with the fast but because I'm fasting it's showing up as being because of the fast.....hehe..hope that made sense. :) Some part of me is also probably testing my own self.

It makes sense to me and yes it does happen during a fast. What you are doing by fasting is exercising the part of your brain that will help you with making decisions, strengthening your resolve, and becoming better disciplined overall. It's like weight lifting and aerobics for the brain. Work on the issues that arise if/as you feel compelled to. If you can't address a specific issue now for some reason, you may wish to fit working on it into future fasts.

Best wishes!

No one said a single word to me while eating that junk but the moment I consume a glass of green juice, they have something to say.

*soapbox* I hear ya. Before I went raw not ONE person in my life ever said, "Aleesha... eating a huge bag of chips (at least one) a day, 3 or 4 chocolate bars not to mention all the other crap I ate is not nutritionally sound." But I can tell you... when I went raw all I heard from everyone was, "Are you sure this is okay? Where are you getting protein? Where are you getting your B vitamins?"

Are you kidding me? I was eating totally freakin' crap and no one batted an eye in my direction but start eating healthy and fasting... and they all have LOTS to say. LOL

*steps off soapbox*

It amazes me how much more acceptable things are to me during a fast. Lifes little and large pressures are totally manageable, whereas while eating they often overwhelm me.

p.s. mental note made of the peppermint oil trick. Here's a thought.....you might soak some wood toothpicks in some for future use while out and about. You'd probably want to store them in a glass vial, as I think the oil may dissolve the typical plastic toothpick holder.

Isn't that the truth! I can so handle life's valleys and hills when I'm fasting.

I love that idea for the peppermint oil. I'm going to try that! Even at home... to get the oil into my body!

Thanks Aleesha for my birthday wish :)

Whatchadoin' for your birth day?

Okay today is my 12th wedding anniversary. We were married twice in the same month... first one was a legal ceremony under a willow tree in a park near a river. It was lovely.

The second (today) was our handfasting in a circle of hundred year old cedar trees in the dark of the night with the Moon shining it's light on our ceremony.

So... I'm off today to get my anniversary tats. I've been creating a sleeve on my left arm of words that are inspirational to me and a big part of our marriage. It began on our 10th anniversary and since I was pregnant last year, I couldn't add one so this year I'll add two words/phrases.

So that's my lovely day. Spending the day with my hubby getting a new tattie. :D

I'm going to have watermelon juice today to assist with this water retention. It should clean out my kidneys nicely!

ah okay. ;) I was just curious. Over the last three years I hear people say they can't do tomatoes... but then they try raw versions and find they don't have the same experiences as with cooked.

I've had people tell me they are allergic to them... and then they try raw versions and they are fine.

So that's why I asked. I'm just being curious is all.

Congrats on you wedding anniversary, Aleesha! And happy b'day to KatieP!

Today is day 10... made it to double digits! Yesterday was the first day I was thinking about food... a lot. I'm not ready to eat yet, though. I'd like to go for at least 5 more days. Today I am sooooo gassy! I wonder why? I didn't drink anything out of the norm yesterday. It makes me feel bloated :(

I find on this fast that green juices are turning me off entirely. Usually I devour green juices like candy when I fast... I just crave them like crazy! This time, I have to choke them down and then I feel really nauseous. I feel like I should be drinking them, but I can't do it on this fast! All my body wants is OJ combos and grapefruit juice. I wonder what's in citrus that my body desires so much?

Good to read everybody's posts. I check in on this thread a few times a day, it really keeps me going!

It's getting so busy on this thread that it's hard to keep up! That's a positive thing, though!

Happy Anniversary, Aleesha! Happy Birthday, Katie!

Fennel is supposed to be good as a natural diuretic. I've had some in some of my juice... Can't really say that I've noticed a difference, but maybe because when I've added it, I wasn't retaining fluids.

Day 1 went just fine for me and I really looked forward to juicing tonight. I went for 2 weeks without using the sauna and Tuesday night was my first night back and I sure did miss it! I'll use it again tomorrow night and already look forward to it.

I was checking out an online BMI calculator today and there was another calculator to figure out what percentile you are in by using your age, height, sex and weight. To my surprise, I am at a 22 percentile... meaning that 78% of women my age (49) and height (5'5") are heavier than me! One of my coworkers was there watching me do it and he said, "Wow, you are doing great!" I'm still 11 lbs heavier than it "recommends" my perfect weight to be, but I'm still happy with how far I've come and how I look.

hi everyone. well my tattie work is done and it looks soooooo good. i'm beyond pleased! it was a lovely day. i drank 3 litres of watermelon juice today, 2 litres of water and i just had a huge tomato juice.

i have fennel in my juice every night!

anyway, i had a shallot again tonight and no bloating. i was reading and it said that lots of water intake can also cause bloating and i drank a lot of water yesterday so perhaps that was it?

honestly... i was feeling broken last night. i was feeling like i wasn't fasting properly... like i was failing. having my weight go up this week... and then the bloating... i really just wanted to cry. i didn't want to end my fast... at all. i just felt like i was broken.

so today a dear friend (((heather))) said some wise words to me. she told me that my weight would release, that my bloating would go away and there is no rush. i have lots of time. and she's right. i have lots of days left to fast... i have lots of time to release weight (the rest of my life!) and so... what's the rush? why was i feeling so "gotta do it now"???

so today i breathe. today i accept that my body knows what it's doing. today i choose to take in healthy juices and lots of water and no salt (other than celery). i choose to smile. i choose to put myself first. i choose to be strong for me.

and... i had a great day!

Thursday Day 16

Workout: Jogged 35 minutes

Nourishment: Raw juices

Assessment: Finally noticing a detox symptom that I never experienced before during other fasts. My mouth is constantly dry. I researched and it says to drink water. I drunk a little but my mouth is still dry. However, I didn’t drink nearly enough water and the symptom doesn’t bother me enough to force the water. If I don’t desire it, then I don’t drink, even water. Even when I’m not fasting I don’t drink a lot of water but instead I eat a lot of water foods. On a different note, I’m concerned about this weekend only because it’s more challenging for me to fast at home rather than at work. But I know I will get through it. Oh how I wish I could be in a sauna right now. I’m just rambling…LOL.

Happy anniversary Aleesha.

Big thanks to all the other fasters as I appreciate your comments and your support very much.

Day 11 here. I exercised for the first time since beginning my fast today. It felt really good! I have a lot more energy now.

I noticed today that I keep "chewing" on nothing. I find myself either clenching my teeth or gently biting my inner cheeks, or just making motions as though I am chewing on something. Maybe I should be doing some jaw exercises or something?

Still on my citrus juice kick. I made green juice the other day and stored it in a mason jar. I opened it up and just the smell of the greens made me so nauseous! I can't believe I have such an aversion to greens on this fast! I LOVE green juice! Or, at least, I used to love it. So strange.

Keep up all the great work, Fellowship!

Lady Laka, I'm the same way. I loooooooooooove greens and can't get enough when I'm eating but fasting... I can't go near them. My tummy hurts just thinking about drinking them!

I have major butt pee going on. Have for two or three days now. Ugh. Oh well... that IS part of fasting! It's not from juice... it just is.

I'm happily enjoying this moment... even though I was sitting on the toilet thinking, "Do I really want to keep fasting???" It's not that I want to stop... it's just that there's food items around me that make me think that I want to consume them (even though I don't)... and so the cycle begins. LOL

Did you take in some salt today after the earlier discussion on it? Maybe that had some to do with it. Too much will do that to me, however I feel I am needing some salt now due to being slightly dehydrated. I try not to salt my food or drinks all the time, but will use it without concern if my muscles cramp. I guess not all can tolerate it. I start with about 1/4 t. to half glass water each fifteen minutes until muscle cramps subside. Usually take two to three of those is all. If I took 1 t. or more at once, it sometimes leads to "butt pee"...

I understand there could be other causes during the fast, but thought I'd share that.

O.k., yesterday I had considered going to a juice fast, but I think I'm gonna stick with what I've been doing on the M/C... I'm gonna adjust the amount of Cayenne and use a LOT LESS than I had used... Reflecting on a couple of days ago, I think I used too much Cayenne when I made that batch, and that's probably where my Chest pains came from...

So, I'm gonna continue on today! I'm REALLY enjoying this fast!!!!

Oh, my Spiritual Daughter has decided to join me!!!!!! She asked me to put her Before photos on my Blog (click signature line)! Take a peek if you like, but BEWARE:::there is a photo slideshow of food there!!!!!!

Lemon-Nee- That is cool that your spiritual sis wants to join the M/C with you! And congrats on losing 16# so far!

One of my dearest friends always tells me I am her "hero" because I am so determined and when I decide to do something there is no stopping me, but I think Aleesha would be a super hero to her! lol

Well, when we got back from my mom's last Saturday, I knew I was soooo bloated and felt blah... I weighed Sunday morning and was 146.5#. I wasn't too concerned cause I knew we were back home and would be right back to our normal juicing and I started doing my 24 hour juice fasts and will be ending a 3 day fast today... By Monday I had already dropped 3#. This morning, I was back to 139.5#. I feel sooooo much better. Not just because the weight came off fast, but because I'm back on track and my body is happy!

I've been adding the Raw Protein to some of my juice this week and I have to say that it has made me feel stronger and better than straight juice. It's made from sprouted beans, alfalfa, etc and is high in protein and amino acids, etc... The only thing is that it's probably not considered true fasting. But I do think it has had a lot to do with the weight coming back off as fast as it has this week and for me being able to not feel so tired and run down. I was also having major hair loss on my fasts before, but it seems to be back to normal now. I guess my natural doc. is right and I do need the protein in my diet.

Getting ready to go get my hair trimmed. Looks like a busy day for us after that.

miss this makes me sooooo happy to read... sooooo happy. instead of following some invisible rules that are made up by whoever makes these things... you are following what you and your body need. this really makes my heart sing.

who cares what 'true fasting' is... cause what IS true fasting? by who's definition?

this is like our lovely renee... she found more strength within to continue on counting days. i say GOOD FOR HER!!! i know i've done that in the past. (it's how i did my 84 day fast)... there were times when food came into the picture and i chose to eat it and then continued on my fast. had i stopped my count and begun again...i would not have continued... so instead i (like renee) chose to continue on.

and so many would say... it wasn't an 84 day fast. fine. i'm cool with that. i don't really care. all i know if that for 84... give or take a small meal or mouthful here and there... i fasted!!! and my body benefited TREMENDOUSLY and my determination benefited more than words can say.

so this is to all those 'fasting police' out there... Aleesha says, "Get a life... focus on your Self... leave us to ourselves and we'll leave you to your own choices - but do NOT put your choices on us!"

I feel good this morning. My shoulder feels much better. It was pretty sore last night (tattoo). I have a busy day today but I'll take heaps of juice with me AND be near two different juice bars... so I should be just fine!

love and light,
The Lady Awen!

Well said, Aleesha! Heck yeah!

When I fast, sometimes I'll eat a little bit of soft fruit, maybe every 7 or 8 days. I have amazing bowel movements instantly from it, I wake up 2 lbs lighter and continue on my fasting journey. I never considered it "breaking" my fast, just something that assisted me with it. I used to feel guilty, thinking "does this mean I'm not fasting?". But that kind of thinking made me want to quit.

Everyone is so different, and it's great to hear about what does or doesn't work for others!

You're so right Aleesha/aka Lady Awen! I hadn't thought of it like that. Thank you! I'm glad your shoulder feels better. You'll have to post a pic when it gets healed up. I have 2 small ones. If they would come out with non toxic tattoo paint, I'd probably get another one.

I've had a crazy day with glasses today! I accidentally broke my glasses that I have to see distance... I had Lasik a couple of years ago... Ended up with about 20/30 vision and didn't feel like having them mess with my eyes again to try to do any corrections on them (cause I ended up having vertigo from tilting my head to put drops in my eyes and then my left eye had a harder time healing and would ache quite often and I didn't want to have to take the chance in something going wrong). So, they gave me glasses for distance instead to help when I drive and want to see signs in a distance, etc. I just wear cheap reading glasses for close up stuff, but most things I can get away without using them at all... So, for the most part, I'm glasses free, but it's good to have them when I need them... We ended up going to a place that fixes glasses... The repair man had left but they said he'd have them done Monday so DH will go pick them up for me. THEN, just a few hours later, my sunglasses broke! I couldn't believe it! The frame cracked (they were plastic) and the lens came out. DH asked me to please not touch his sunglasses! :-)

It has been a pretty good day aside from that! Still hot, but only a couple more days and we'll be having some fall like temps. The upside is that I was able to sunbathe this morning!

I had dinner tonight but am back to fasting again. Maybe 2 days, maybe 3. I am just gonna take it hour by hour and do whatever works for me. It's funny, though, that I can enjoy eating yet I also miss my juice when I do that and I can't wait to get back to it! I take that as a good thing.
