I want to go back to juicing but I know the smoothies are important.
I tried doing a carrot and green smoothie and it just turned out horrible. It was kinda lumpy, maybe I need to use more water? I managed to make a half decent smoothie containing of cucumber, apple, ginger and lemon juice. I prefer juicing. It's way more yummy. :/
I would like to hear what your favourite smoothies are?
:)

3-4 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted
1 banana
spinach
water
That's probably my favorite one, although yesterday I made one with 1/2 head of romaine lettuce, 3 small bananas, juice of 1 lemon, a couple of dashes of cinnamon, and water, and it was delicious too.
If you're not liking the taste of them, try adding more fruit. If you don't like the thickness of them, try adding more water. I generally use 3-4 cups of water in mine now because I like them a bit thinner. I tried making a smoothie with carrots in it when I first went raw and it was chunky too, and I didn't care for it. You might try juicing your carrots first, then putting the juice and pulp into your smoothie - more work, but would get rid of the chunks.
Good luck. :)
I love this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXr8-jru1KE)by Green Smoothie Girl - it's pretty much how I make mine. Watching her video is what started me drinking green smoothies.
As time goes on, I continue to up the greens and lower the fruit. Basically I use the juice of 1 young Thai coconut, then my greens and then fruit to taste. The ingredients you've listed are what I juice - not what I use in my GS. *Ü*

They say to "eat your fruit and juice your veg" and I agree. Juice the cucumber and the celery and make the smoothies from the yummier things.

I was thinking your smoothie sounded a little more like juicing too. Try that ever popular frozen banana and a handful or two of spinach with enough water to your liking. It's easy and good tasting.

It has been my experience that apples and pears arent so great in the blender. I have a vita mix and I still dont like the texture they give my smoothies. check out the 70 green smoothies list floating around here. and if you want a savory one, try victorias favorite savory smoothie on the list.

This morning I had spinach, kale, strawberries, banana, chia seeds and flax seed. I make mine and put in a thermos and drink it at work. Today was the first time I put flax in it and it was sorta chewy.. I lOVED IT! Now I understand chew your smoothies. LOL

Are you using a VitaMix or regular blender? That makes a big difference. Also, try adding fresh mint. I LOVE my smoothies with mint.

ditch the carrots and save them for juicing. unless you have a vitamix/blendtec, they wont ever blend up smooth in a regular blender, in my experience

I took to green juice straight away but have had a much harder time with green smoothies. Strangely enough I've started to appreciate frozen fruits as a base--banana, cherries, peaches, mango, etc. Lately I've been making one that I like with mango/cranberries/rainbow chard--and a lot more water than I initially used. I usually but in a squirt of agave, a pinch of salt, and sometimes some fat such as coconut oil or ground flax seed.

It's probably your blender. Not all blenders turns things into smoothies, but more like chunky fruit and vegetable salsa. :p That is why I love my Vitamix. It turns everything into baby food.

I add flax seeds all the time, or sometimes I just squirt flax oil in mine.

Me too. I add 10 grams of ground flax seeds and 5 grams of ground sunflower or pumpkin seeds.
