can anyone give comments on the "dry container" that comes with the Vitamix 5000S... vs. the 4500 model. not sure what other differences there are between the 2 models- I tried to go thru all the vitamix info under the search banana, but would like more info and testimonials... :p

thanks

Hi,
I have both and one is for wet ingredients and the other for dry. I love my dry container as it grinds up wheat berries, rye berries.
You really can't interchange them they do separate operations.
I am happy with both and you will be too.

blessed,

thanks, they both sound very nice, but there is quite a cost difference between the two models. So really I'm wondering how important the additional dry container that comes with the more expensive 5000S is. It seems to be the main difference.

I haven't ever needed grind grains. I usually just sprout and process the grains wet, though I seldom consume grain at all.
So, is that dry container just for making flour? Do you still sprout first - then dehydrate - then grind?

as far as the dry container what else is it used for?

I can grind seeds and nuts straight away in the 4500, I believe, so I don't know if I even need the dry container.

is the 5000 model itself any different than the 4500? it costs almost $100. extra.

(thanks for being patient with all my questions) :D
