I made the marinara sauce with all the sun dried tomatoes in it yesterday - slept heavily and badly - with bad dreams.
I made the pesto stuffed shrooms today - dehydrated them over five hours - tasted delicious, chewed and savoured them and yet, now I have a tummy ache. My first in months.
I have the cheesy brocolli in the dehydrator now... will I have a similar reaction to this dehydrated dish?? I am almost scared to eat some.
I am getting the feeling that dehydrated food and I won't be but rare friends. Anyone here avoid deydrated/dried fruits and doing well on raw?
Thanks,
LN

I get a sore tummy too when I eat dehydrated foods and some recipes.

I've not had a problem w/ stomach aches. I don't "avoid" dehydrated just enjoy my foods now as mother nature made them mostly. Many need the heavier dehydrated "gourmet-type" foods druing transition times. After awhile, eating naturally happens for most.

I find that when I eat dehydrated foods, as long as I eat less than I normally would, I'm okay. Because all or most of the water is removed, you're getting a bigger helping than it looks like.
Just my thoughts.

I avoid dehydrated foods. The only thing I've really wanted are the dehydrated desserts, Lara Bars, things like that. But the combination of dried fruit and nuts gives me candida symptoms.
It's probably just as well. I don't drink enough water as it is, so the last thing I need to do is to be taking water out of my food.

Sounds like you're ready to move on, LNDolls :)!
Many people, including some on this site, have testified to stages...at first, they ate a lot of nuts or dried fruits; others had to mimic SAD foods to get by. Eventually, (hopefully) most people move on and need less of these foods. Their tastes and desires change, usually becoming much more simple.
Some people take longer to get there than others.
Perhaps you have reached a level of not being able to eat so much of the dried foods any longer; I'd say that's a good thing. They are not (in my opinion) optimal anyway: The fresher, the more whole foods you consume, the better.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will trust this information coming from inside and move on. grin

Apparantly there are certain compounds in garlic and onions that give people strange dreams, as it effects the brain. Did you have either of those before the nightmares?

I had both and either onions or garlic in several meals on days with no nightmares, so I think that right now my body needs the fresh raw food.. perhaps later I can handle the dehydrated foods, and not have stomach trouble and cravings. I have no problem keeping it simple awhile.
Gucamole has onions and pesto has garlic - neither of which have given me any trouble raw.
I am such a newbie, and rather sensitive anyway, further enhanced by doing a long Master Cleanse - the messages from my body are loud!! I am listening and going to honor them.
My dehydrator will get used, I am sure, just not right now so much.

when I was raw consistently for a few weeks, the dehydrated food gave me reactions like wheat did before going raw, which is palpatations, constricted vessels in the back of my brain, etc. It's like we dont' notice those reactions on SAD after a long time, but start detoxing, and LOOK OUT!
i've minimized my consumption of dehydrated foods for several years now... usually only eating crackers if i have any at all... complex recipies, and ingriedents make me less active...
i do use dried herbs, and lyceum(goji) berries and such, but those are usually rehydrated...
fresh food, and lots of water is best IMHO
gourmet food is EXCELLENT for folks who are transitioning though i feel... hey if it keeps you from freaking out and eating a doughnut... go for it!!
