This turned out pretty good for my first time. I wish I had put romaine under the cake to give it more uumph, but everyone liked it and thought it was pretty!

What sort of cake is it.
I don't know how you could have given it more "oomph!!" It's absolutely beautiful! You did a great job! *Ü*

Thanks! I knew you all would understand. It feels great to be among alike people. Its made out of a single watermelon, its white because I just shaved it to give it a different layer look, then added chopped grapes, strawberries, cantalope and mango.

Very beautiful, and much lighter on the lil' one's tummy than a nut concoction. ;) Good work!

I picked out a very round long watermelon and cut the ends off, then cut in three layers, I used a round soup style cup and pressed it onto the smallest layer for a stencil, and used a knife to shave the rest of the way down. I used a pot for the biggest layer. I just pushed in enough to have a indent. It was a lot of fun to make it, and he got to eat it for breakfast the next day so he was very happy! Im excited for next years cake:D

Oh that is even better. I did not realise that it was all one piece. I thought that it was 3 pieces sitting on top of each other.

Sorry im not the best at explaining! It is 3 pieces, I used a reusable long plastic straw to hold it in place. I just used the bowl and pot to help me cut into round pieces.

I think it would be neat to leave the white rind on and just have one big layer like my bottom one. It looks like a cake, and you could arrange fruit on top and not worry about having the layers fall off. I also rubbed a cut lemon on the white part, not sure if that helped keep it white. I made this in the morning and refrigerated it till evening and it still looked pretty.
