Good Morning!
I found this forum via a Google search. I have been looking to develop a support network to help me in my transition to better health and a better body.
I have been vegetarian on and off for several years, but have NEVER really been a meat eater, more of a pescetarian. I am lactose intolerant so I don't consume dairy products. My sister went to a raw foods class at the dance studio we take classes at and came back with a ton of information and recipes, and we have been eating alomost all raw and green smoothies for the last month. I feel wonderful so far. I sleep so well. I have lost eight pounds, and I am not nearly as fatigued as I normally am.
I work for the Cleveland Clinic and had the opportunity to see Victoria Boutenko speak at the adjoining hotel a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed at her vitality and passion; she is truly inspiring. (and very funny!) I thought - if she and her family can eliminate their health problems, I can too.
I have chronic pain, anemia, and digestive issues due to two autoimmune diseases I was 'lucky' enough to develop. I have decided that rather than seeing this as a curse, I should use this as an opportunity to test myself and see if I can reduce or eliminate my symptoms and rely less and less on drug therapy to control them. The Cleveland Clinic is highly supportive of holistic and mind-body approaches to health maintenance and prevention. We have a center for integrative medicine! My health insurance covers massage therapy and accupuncture! I have a free gym membership and access to free nutritional counseling if I like. My rheumatologist actually wants me to rely less and less on immunomodulators because of the side effects. I am truly blessed.
My goal is to lose about 40 lbs. I have gained since I re-started immunosuppressive drug therapy, need less medication, be able to run on a regular basis, be kinder to the planet, and eliminate my fatigue. By joining this community, I hope I can learn from all of you and your experiences and rely on you to help me keep on track.
I hope to see you all on the boards,
RoseGreen
