Hi everyone!

I always come lurking onto this site, but never took the time to create a
profile :). I've been raw for over 2 years now... started out higher fat, then mostly fruit 7 months ago, now eat fairly low fat but with some cooked legumes. I can't eat dense fruits like bananas due to extreme allergies) SO.... :) I started raw to heal my intestinal lining. I was finally diagnosed with celiacs 6 years ago, after having painful diarrhea every day and vomiting for over 20 years! Until the diagnoses, I feel like I've spent most of my life living inside a bathroom. So, I'm still healing from the damage done, struggling with malabsorption issues, deficiencies, etc. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with MS, just before going raw, and 4 months ago with Rheumatoid Arthritis, which came on very suddenly. Although I have yet to see neurological improvements at this point, I will say that raw has totally fixed my digestive problems, and have way fewer and shorter MS relapses... yay! I'm hoping in a few years that I will have a handle on the high inflammation, hormonal, and nerve issues. I just know it has to do with eating all that wheat for years and years... I can't even imagine how horrible I would be if I didn't go raw.... just 3 years ago I needed to use a cane with an arm brace, because my left leg and arm would just collapse!
I feel like I am going back in time and getting younger and fitter every day!

Hi and Welcome.
You have had more than you fair share of bad luck with your health. I have heard of a girl who held her MS at bay by going natural. I recall that one of the things that she did was rebounding.

thanks! rebounding is awesome, love it! right now I am well enough to exercise... been doing P90x for a week now.. never could've done that before :). The only thing I'm not "supposed" to do is push my muscles to the point of exhaustion. I am really really rigid and need mad stretching twice a day so I don't move like my 90 year old grandma :D , although, some days she does a lot better than me!

Welcome to the group! :)
You are doing a great job in getting your health back, keep it up girl!

My best friend has MS, arthritis, a growing cyst in her brain, degenerative discs in her back, diabetes, fibromyalgia, IBS and I forgot what else...lol, but she was pretty much bedbound / wheelchair bound for the past 10 years.
3 months ago I introduced her to the raw food lifestyle because that's when I went raw too so we are doing it together, and she has reported back to me that she has tremendous energy, she's been able to stand (usually her legs give out after a minute or two) for an hour at a time, she's been able to prepare all the meals for her family (normally her children / husband would make the food), she's been able to read to her children for an hour at a time (something she hadn't been able to do), and her pain has been greatly reduced so far, all to raw foods / juicing. :D
She knows it will take her body 1, 2, or even 3 years to properly heal itself, but she is in it for the long run. She has seen what raw foods has already done for her and she is sold.
I am so proud of her, she is doing so well, and so are you!

Blessings!

WOW! I love hearing inspirational stories like this.... that's wonderful that she is taking charge of her health and giving it her all! Just let her know that there will be bumps along the way, but don't get discouraged as they WILL pass :). There were times I thought it wasn't making a difference, there were setbacks, but then a couple weeks later I felt better than ever, glad I didn't give up.
