Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Here's my commitment:
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast next week in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I'm on Day 80 and happy to continue fasting.
I am starting a 10 day master cleanse with an option to go longer(extend it up to 40 days). So, if anyone else is starting a cleanse, then please join me for motivation. I hope to add comments on how I am doing everyday.
I am looking forward to soaking and drinking up a lot of lemonade!

I want to do a liquid fast. Of having a smoothie for breakfast and dinner at sunrise and sunset, but drink lots of water and unsweetened tea, because I had a bad health incident that lasted two weeks of my feet and ankles being bloated with edema. And I had no clue where that came from. So I want to reverse this patter of ill health by cutting out foods that could be effecting my health.
I have stopped emotional eating, but now I must focus on being able to stick to a plan to help me heal my body from being obese.

By the way, what is a good exercise for fasters to keep the body active and fit, but won't over strain the body?

whatever you wish to do exercise-wise is up to you. i love to walk. i go for nice long walks a couple times a day. i also rebound (but more in the winter than the summer). NIA is also lovely.

I did swim for 10 min on day1, did sit in hot water tub for 10 min.
I wanted to do the same on day2
what are your thoughts on colon hydrotherapy. I did speak with some doctors. They are not recomending it ...

Hi everyone.. I just wanted to pop in and say "Hello". It sounds like everyone is doing really well.
My husband and I will be back soon. Just another couple of weeks. Acually, we've been doing mini/ half day fasts. In fact we just juiced up some wonderful juices for tomorrow. I'll be having some cantaloupe (lovely) and some pineapple/cucumber/apple juice (oh ya).

Well I made it through day 80 and I'm ready, willing and able to move on into the 90's. Come on 90's!!!
I have to tell you all, it's kinda weird fasting through every day of the fasting monthly threads right now. I am totally loving my juices today. I may just try a longer fast later this month, but I'm enjoying all the juices I can right now.
We just found a way to order produce by the cases. It was so funny as my husband and I looked over the list and got all excited to see the many fruits and veggies we can order when we fast again. My husband said he may even do a longer fast with me this next time!!

Last night as I laid in bed I was very pleased to feel how little belly fat I have now. Much less than when I began this fast. (((hugs)))
Today is a busy day but only the first of many for me. I don't think I'll be relaxing till Tuesday next week - which is fine but whooooosh my days are going to fly.
Miss, (thank you) and are you done fasting now? Off to 'breaking' are you?
Well I'll be fasting through this month and into the next... loving this experience and allowing my body to get the most out of each moment. Ahhhh I love that I'm doing this and I love that it's being done with such commitment. I've never been so deeply committed during a fast before (or perhaps I need to be committed LOL)... *giggling*
It's such a huge gift from my Self to myself to be this focused and committed. Makes fasting a whole lot easier when I am 'in-it'.
Cathy, where are you getting the cases from? Your local market? That's what I do. They give me wholesale prices. They'll even lower prices on other things that I want to buy in smaller quantities if I ask them. Such a treat when I want a nice heirloom tomato juice (for example)... they blessed me with $2.15 a pound instead of $3.99 a pound for some the other day. Made my 'special' dinner juice much less expensive than it would have been if I had to pay full price!

Oh I love heirloom tomatoes..
Since we started our whole foods retail business, we were able to set up a wholesale account with our local Organic produce supplier. All of their produce is organic and most of it is local!! We are so excited!
I am placing our first order with them tomorrow. I have a friend who is going in on it with me for this first order, but I will offer it to all our customers soon.
I feel so very blessed!

i just got home with three of the most beautiful pineapples i've ever seen!!! ohhhh mama i'm so excited about it.
i'm off to make a juice for moi... made a bunch of apple blend this morning... but i think i want my tomato now. i've been drinking it earlier and earlier lately... mama just can't wait for dinner time to enjoy her fav. LOL

Mmmmmmm I am seriously making some amazing tom blends lately. I picked up a new spice today. Lemon pepper. I sprinkle it on top of my tom blend and then use a spoon to slowly scoop the top layer of the juice with the lemon pepper on it. Ohhhhhh mama it was goooooooood.
Just had a nice warm bath. May have a been a little warmer than is recommended on a fast but now I'm relaxing on the couch and I feel okay so no worries there.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am lovin' this fast.
I just got a new product today... it's by Lexen (http://www.877myjuicer.com/manual-vacuum-pump-nutrivac-lexen.html) and I think the idea is GREAT! Check it out fellow fasters, it may be just what we need to take our juices on the road!

wow that was a "burning ring of fire" poop. i guess it's the cayenne in my tom blend that caused this but i don't think i've really done all that much. LOL
nice to see things are still coming out... day 81 and i'm still having natural unassisted bowel movements.
how that, my friend, is trusting your body and allowing it to do what it needs to do. *smile*

Day 1
Wasn't so bad. I mixed one cup of left over smoothie of pineapple, coconut, ginger and added a peach, more ginger, some spinach and half a cup of frozen blue berries. Added some bee pollen, and flaxseed oil.
Probably have this for breakfast the next day too.
I didn't exercise today but will in the morning. Just simple walking for 2 miles.

Day One was GREAT. I mixed a cup of smoothie... and I'm eagerly awaiting the adventure of Day Two!
A huge part of fasting is your mind space. If you put your mind into the space of loving your fast and being eager to experience more... than you will. (((hugs)))

I just wanted to tell about the amazing afternoon I had today! I went to my gynecologist for a routine physical. I knew she was supportive of some supplements, especially milk thistle and herbal supplements instead of estrogen, but we'd never talked too extensively about things. Today she mentioned eating lots of dark green veggies, especially leafy ones. I told her we juiced and her face lit up like a Christmas tree! I found out that she and her hubby are vegans and they juice, make green smoothies and eat mostly raw! She was so excited that I didn't know if she'd ever get to her next patient or not! It was great to be able to talk to a doctor that understands and actually does it herself! And she is against people taking prescription drugs as well, but said most of the time she feels like she's beating her head against a wall because people just want to pop pills and eat what they want to eat instead of taking control of their diets.
I also found out we're the same age, which was cool. I left there feeling like I was walking on clouds! I knew a long time ago that I really liked her and now I know why! It really made my day and hers as well!

I had the same smoothie as yesterday for breakfast and dinner. I walked to the grocery store about strawberries, raspberries, an onion and some corn. I am thinking of making an all vegetable smoothie tomorrow the the spinach, corn, onions, ginger, jalepeno peppers and garlic to give me tongue a break from the sweetness of fruit.
TMI, am expelling a lot of waste. I don't go to the bathroom more than usual, but I am just having more bowel movements than normal. And my stomach is starting to feel kind of light.

i just got home from a very long day. it wasn't at all challenging which surprised me to be honest. i thought it would be tough to be so far from home (2 hour drive to the show) and then going out to dinner afterwards watching everyone eat. i find that if i serve everyone... i feel more a part of the meal even though i'm not eating.
i'm tired but it's been great. now... tomorrow afternoon we leave for camping.
yippppppeeeeeeeeeee saturday is 12 weeks for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hi all!
I'm still here and continuing my fast. I haven't posted in a few days...I was really sick a few days....
I am feeling much better today. Been having some wonderful BM's!!!!!
Feels good to continue!!! :)
Edit: O.K..... I just talked to my Best Friend and she has agreed to start the M/C with me today!!!!!! I really do want to stop the digestive process, so We will start with a Laxative Herb Tea and make up our Lemonaide this morning for the entire day. She has done the M/C before with fantastic results. So she is excited about joining me!!!! Her Goal will be for Sept 30th. I am changing mine and will extend my fast till then also. So, I will not break my fast on the 15th....
So, this will be day 1 for me with M/C!!!!! With you guys holding one hand and my BFF holding my other hand, I am excited about making September the MONTH OF CLEANSING!!!!!

I think we may be having a little bit of a change of plans. The critters can't all be left alone for the weekend so I may come home and sleep here, and go back to our 'camp' every morning. Fortunately it's only 15 minutes away from home so this isn't a big deal.
We'll see what happens through today though... we leave for camping at 2:45 so I should know what's going on by then LOL or not... *giggling* I like flying by the seat of my pants!
I released a little weight yesterday. That usually happens when I don't have my tom blend in the evening. It's nice and full of nutrients that sustains my body so when I skip it (as I was at Kooza yesterday) my body goes into my reserves. I love that I don't release a whole lot of weight while fasting. This way I can fast for nice long periods of time and not get paper thin - although I still have plenty to release on this fast so being paper thin isn't a concern right now.
I plan on doing cantaloupe juice all weekend. mmm I love cantaloupe juice. On other fasts I didn't like it at all but this fast... I love it. I water it down a smidge so it's not thick... and yumm slurp it up!
Day 5 Lost 7 pounds ...Still 35 days and 30 Lbs to go

I'm having "fun" too... I've been LIVING in this Bathroom today!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! Man, i drank some Tea this AM and with this M/C it's got me MOVIN'!!!! Double time!!!!!! I never moved like this on a juice fast.....EVER!!!!!
I feel good, though! I'm wondering if I should drink the tea this evening, though. The book says to, but I have this vision of myself on the THRONE with my pillow on the counter under my head!!!!!!
I think making the Lemonaide this morning for the day helped a lot! I didn't have to even decide what juice to drink! I love not thinking about food!!!!! Feels good to rest that part of my brain!!!!
I told my Hubby what I'm doing... He had some questions, but he totally supports me...

Guess what today is? Not only is it day 84 (week 12) of my fast but... the longest I've ever fasted is 84 days... so this fast not only equals my longest fast... but will exceed it!
So today is the day that equals... tomorrow is the day that exceeds.
How cool is that!!!

I spent the day camping with a large group of homeschoolers. We had a blast. I served everyone their food... cleaned up food, did so much stuff and on a 1/2 litre of juice!!! I wasn't even a smidge hungry or interested in what they were eating other than enjoying the smells.
I'm sooooo pleased with my Self. So pleased.

I fell asleep yesterday and didn't drink the Tea...but that's ok...it was an option. I will began today with the Tea, though...and drink the Lemonaide the rest of the day. Yesterday I make up a Gallon of it, but I have about 32 oz left cuz I couldn't drink it all.
I'm feeling better and better every day! Aleesha, I think you were right...shutting down the digestion process was just what I needed!!! Thank you!!!

ya it makes a huge difference renee. people think that by consuming green smoothies that it'll make the fast easier... i find it's the opposite. it can help you get into fasting mode by doing it for a day or two... but to keep doing it you keep that hunger alive and it becomes more "consuming". at least that's my (and some of my clients) experiences. other people (like lucy) thrive on them for 100 days!
so it's best to try things. see if they work for you and if they don't... tweak what you are doing. i tweak every single fast i do. cause the same thing doesn't always work/resonate with me.
normally i love watermelon juice. i drink it daily. this fast... notsomuch. I'm just not into it.
for me, it's cantaloupe this time around.
well i'm off to enjoy my 84th day of fasting to the MAX!!!

So far today I've had:
- 24 oz H2O
- 3 cups of herbal (no caff) teas - it's chilly here today.....had some fasting tea Aleesha ;)
- 12 oz of apple, orange, lemon & ginger juice
- 30 oz of orange juice

As you all know, today is day 84. It's 12 weeks. This is the longest I've ever fasted... last time it wasn't as pure a fast (as I cheated here and there...) but day 84 was the longest I fasted. When I wake up tomorrow... I will have fasted longer than I have ever fasted before!!!
What a huge achievement. I couldn't even imagine fasting longer than I did last time and here I am... fasting even longer this time around.
I spent the day camping with the homeschoolers. It was such fun. We played a 5 hour game of cards that was soooo much fun LOL. I served everyone lunch and dinner... serving all those foods to everyone as they piled their plates high. There I was in the middle of the HUGE food fest and I didn't have a single tiny twinge of a craving. Nothing... nada. Nil.
I'm sooo pleased. AND I only took 2.5 litres of juice with me so that's all I had... which is not a lot at all considering how much food I surrounded by. Again... I'm very pleased.
I just got home... I'm soooo exhausted - what a day it's been. So full. I woke up at 6:30 this morning so tired and felt like a train ran me over. I fed the critters, checked my email and ran off to the camping again. So this mama is ready for bed!
I am so proud of myself - so proud of this fast. So proud!!!

Thanks... I feel so amazing... I could just shout it from the mountain tops. I never thought I'd ever fast so solid ever. Ever. And here I am... so solid.
I was sitting here thinking about this and I thought, "If I ate something right now I would cry. I would absolutely cry so hard. I'd feel like I let myself down... " So I know, without a doubt that I'll achieve everything I desire with this fast. I know I will.

Enormous congratulations, Aleesha! You have so much to be proud of for fasting so long and sticking to your resolution to keep going.
I am feeling really good and stronger since breaking my fast, but I am still ready to go with my planned 3 day fast beginning tomorrow. It is almost funny how addicting this fasting can be. My jaw actually aches right now and part of me just doesn't want to chew anymore for a while! So, I feel like mixing in those fasting days are going to be a nice relief for me!

Thank you both for the encouraging words. I forgot that today was day 85 until I opened this thread and then I was dancing inside. What a huge feat I've achieved. I never ever thought I'd ever fast longer than 84 days. It was such a HUGE struggle last time. Such a struggle but at other times during the fast... not at all. But it was the struggle that curbed my mind to believe I'd never achieve more.
That combined with my struggle while fasting in the last year. I fasted, but it wasn't with ease... it was a constant mind game of 'want'. I'm not sure why this fast is any different, all I can tell you is that it is. It is.
I greatly appreciate how supportive everyone has been during my fast. Even the people this weekend at the campout. They are in awe of it (and some a tad overwhelmed I'm sure) but none of them are putting any negativity on it. They are just embracing it.
There is one man who has fasted for 7 days before and it was horrid. So I asked him what he drank. I said, "you drank pasteurized juices didn't you?" he said, he didn't know so I asked him if he used a juicer or if they came from the store pre-made. He said pre-made and so I explained to him the difference of the juices. When we were done he was amazed at what I shared and then another man (as I was speaking with 3 or 4 men at the time) said, "wow you know a lot about this." (As a bunch of homeschoolers, we all appreciate and embrace what other parents know about things {I think it's an inner scoping out of who can teach our children what at different times LOL})
I told them I'm a fasting coach and they smiled. They said that seeing me all weekend and getting to know me - they'd recommend me to anyone. That was such a huge honour for me. To be surrounded by smart successful people and hear that is lovely! One is a teacher - grade 12 sciences (all of them) and calculus, another a personal pilot so it was nice to hear from people so 'educated' that they found merit in my knowledge and profession.
It's been the most amazing weekend. I'm such a non-social person and yet I've just enjoyed this tremendously. I'm so glad we are going to make this a yearly (or more) event. The land we are camping on is so beautiful - 34 acres of trees, rivers and fields. Since it's privately owned by one of the homeschool families, there is no cost for camping so everyone can afford to come.
Well I better get juicing... I have another fun filled day ahead of me back at camp!

Yesterday I didn't get too much juice in....just what I posted before + juice from 1 cantaloupe = about 20 oz.....& 1 more cup of herbal tea.....
Today so far:
24 oz of water
1 large herbal tea....going for #2 soon....
16 oz of apple/carrot ....unfortunately my carrots aren't too sweet this time....still nutritious though.....:rolleyes:
I have 3 more 16oz jars in the fridge of the carrot apple blend - so I will be set for this afternoon.....

Aleesha, I'm with you...this is so far the best fast fir me...I don't know if starting with 3-4 days of juicing is what helped me or what. I finally feel like I'm in the zone! And it feels good!
My kids keep saying, "Aren't you hungry?". But, I'm really not! And, it feels like I'm getting my energy back!
I discovered Alissa & Raw in Feb 2007. I have yet to do a full body Before/After... SOOO, I will do one on October 1st at the one of this fast! When I think of the changes I've experienced so far...just being Raw, I can't WAIT to see what a month of Fasting will do!!!! :)

I am back on board for at least 3 days of fasting. It is like coming home! lol
We have a few really busy days coming up the end of the week, but they will be fun, I'm sure. By the time it's over, I will be ready for some more fasting days again, though.
We juiced some apples today from a neighbor who has apple trees. It tastes like cider! It is amazing. I am hoping DH's aunt will have a lot of apples this year! She gave us tons of them last year and we never could use them all, but now with juicing, we can juice to our hearts content!
We're watching Amelia now with Hillary Swank and Richard Gere. Then it'll be off to bed for me.

Today I drank my 2L of apple/carrot that I juiced this morning....not really thrilled with it.....:rolleyes:
I drank a cup of tea earlier that had me on the verge of vomiting!! :eek:
Did not sit right......note to self....do not drink royal vitality blend while fasting.....;)
I just juiced a bunch of tomatoes & 3 stalks of celery.....added chili powder, sea salt & black pepper.....YUM!!!
Eating it out of a bowl with a spoon......like my fasting idol does.....;)

Another Friend of mine asked me about my Fast today! She wants to join me too! My BFF said she fell off yesterday. But she wants to try again. I will continue no matter what she decides to do.
Sometimes my stomach hurts, though. I think thats my body's way of cleaning house, huh? Its quite unpleasant I must say!!! But it doesn't last long....

Hi everyone,
Lately I'v been doing a raw again then switing to vego/vegan again thing. The vego/vegan thing is taking it's tole on my health.
I'd like to come here and join you all to fast and rejuvinate my health and life.
I will be here untill my many health and life issues heal and then move on to raw foods.
Today I have had a tasty orange and lemon juice.
Tonight will be a V8 inspired juice. I just love vegetable juice with tomato at the moment.
My question to you all is do you drink any water while your juicing? I know you can drink water while juicing but do you find that you need or want to?

everyone, i'm back home finally. ahhhh it was an amazing experience this weekend. such a great time. i've never spent so much time with other homeschoolers and i have to say... i really liked everyone i met. what a treat it was to pamper myself with this experience.
i feel so strong, so focused and everyone today even did a little celebration with me regarding my fast and it being day 85 for me. they all seemed to either understand or appreciate my enthusiasm over the importance of this day so it was nice.
another really cool thing was that no one judged me for fasting. they all seemed genuine in their feelings regarding it. normally when i share that i'm fasting with people and how long it's been (or going to be) they have so many negatives to say/share. not a single person did that this weekend. i felt so loved and supported. (((hugs))) i couldn't have asked for a more amazing experience of today.
i think the only way i could have been better would be to be at a fasting campout with other fasters... i think that's all that would have topped it.
i'm so glad to hear that everyone is doing great. roop you don't share much but congrats on breaking the 200 pound mark!!! that is a huge feat and i'm soooooooo pleased for you. i remember breaking that mark myself and how it felt. i was dancing in the streets for days!
renee, my tummy hurts sometimes when i'm fasting. i can't tell you why but i can tell you that it passes. do you think it was the cayenne? did you use too much do you think? (just pondering is all)...

I forgot to mention... one of the campers (who's also a teacher) played a game with us to help us remember each others names.
He said that we should all pick a fruit that starts with the first letter of our name and share it with the group.
I suggested that it was a fruit I could juice... LOL so everyone agreed to do that.
Well... they decided I was Avocado Aleesha... even though I tried to explain you can't juice an avocado... they didn't care.
So... that's my camp name... Avocado Aleesha LOL My hubby was Doughnut Dave cause you can get them with a jelly filling LOL and there was Jelly Bean Jennifer cause they come in fruit flavours *giggling* - there were over 60 of us we had to get creative with the fruit names.
Just thought I'd share that with you all.

LOL!!!! How FUN!!!! Our Homeschool group had a Hoe Down last week, but I couldn't go cuz I was sick... But, I know what you mean about homeschoolers not being judgmental. I find that also! They even requested that I make a Raw dish for the Hoe Down! I started making something, but didn't feel wee enough to finish it.
I'm so excited to be on Day 4!!! Yesterday my Hubby said, "I don't know HOW you can do this fast! The juicing I can see, but this one must be so hard!". I explained to him how much better I feel this time! Even the tummy aches don't last long--until I have a BM, so I'm sure it's related.
He is surprised I'm sticking with it, I think!!! Even more incentive to continue! :)

24 oz water
28 oz orange juice
I will make a carrot/apple/cucumber/celery blend today......
Today is the last day for my fast - tomorrow I will gently break it~

Renee, it's important to mention (for readers of this thread whether now or in archives) that you weren't juice fasting, you were juice and smoothie fasting. That's why you were so hungry, you didn't let your digestion rest. Am I correct or were you only drinking freshly made raw live juice?

I just woke up from a very deep and resting sleep. Had some fasting dreams - which I haven't had in awhile so that was cool. LOL (fasting dreams are bizarre with lots of colour and make absolutely no sense at all)
I got my period today - which I'm thrilled about. I asked my body to please wait until today as I had the camping and Kooza to attend and didn't want to bleed during them and it listened! It was 'due' to begin around Wedish last week. (((love my body)))
AND I weighed myself this morning and I'm 149.8!!! I broke that 150 mark that I've been waiting to break for 12 years!!! Pretty huge in my world folks... I'm beyond thrilled.
Today is our 12th wedding anniversary and my hubby remembered. LOL We both pretty much always forget so this was pretty funny when I got up and he chimed up "Happy Anniversary honey I REMEMBERED!!!" LOL
So today is a day catching up online, relaxing on the couch and perhaps running into town if I really need to...

Hi everyone! Tomorrow I will start my first juice fast. I am excited -- and nervous. Really glad to find this thread on RFT, your enthusiasm and presence is already propping me up! A few questions and requests please!
- One, I am nervous about withering away. This is always one of my greatest fears when I fast (I have fasted before, but always on a holiday, not in my normal environment). I am not overweight and don't have any reserves for my body to rely upon if I don't get enough calories to fuel my day (work, exercise, life!) I don't want to pass out. Any comments or feedback on this for me?
- And, please share your fave drink combos! :) I never thought of adding spices to juices -- that is a great idea! Any other interesting ideas?
- Today I am in prep mode, drinking alot of juice and eating only apples and celery to clean me out for the transition to juice tomorrow. It already makes me nervous as I feel tired and sleepy. But I will not give in to negative feelings such as fear and anxiety. I have to trust my body will be ok. But how can it be if I don't give it enough food? This is the question that keeps nagging me.

drink more juice - 4-6 litres a day and you won't release much weight at all. the more your drink of juices the more energy your body has.
my fav juice is a nice tomato blend. tomatoes, celery, cucumber, fennel, red peppers and spices (cumin, curry, cayenne, kelp powder and dulse powder)

It's been kind of a lazy day today for the most part. We have stayed home other than going to buy 2# of tomatoes from a friend who grows and sells produce. All he had left was 2# so we bought them. I'm going to miss the fresh produce when it's all gone! That's the only part about fall that I have a problem with!
The weather has been wonderful! Lower humidity and sunny. We did a little work outside and went out in the woods for a little while to check things out. One of these days we'll have some ginseng, if all goes well. We planted some a few years ago but it takes years for it to come up.
I enjoyed laying in the sun earlier today. The temps and humidity have been so nice that I start to doze off with it feeling so good and relaxing.
Welcome Tguch! I think you will do just fine with fasting. This is a great place to come check in for help and suggestions as well as to be accountable. I'm still pretty new at it all so I love just being able to read what others are doing and going through. It makes the journey much easier. Listen to your body and feed it whatever juice it needs.
Aleesha- That is great about the camp and how receptive people were. So many times, people act like I have three heads or something when I talk about how we juice! It seems like people are either okay with it or they are totally opposed to it and think it's crazy. I have to stop and realize that I use to be one of the latter, though, and it makes me understand them and where they are coming from. I make sure to tell them that I use to think it was crazy, too, but then I tried it! "Don't knock it till you've tried it!" So fitting in this case! You may end up converting some more people through your camping experience with them. That would be really cool!

Ya converting others isn't really my goal in anything. I just set an example and am open to answering questions and supporting them if needed. But I am happy to leave people to their own paths.
I'm having the most lovely lazy day. Playing computers games with my daughter and my hubby is making me some cantaloupe juice. I've been dry fasting all day so far (not intentional just forgot to drink)... so I'll get some fluid into me.

i just had a huge bm. i don't think it was the tea, i think it was the cantaloupe juice i consumed 20 minutes before.
my tummy is a bit tender. not sure what's up but last night i was in so much pain after having my tom blend. tonight i'll just stick with cantaloupe and let me body heal.

Hi Aleesha!!!
I did juice during the day and had Tomato Smoothie at night with Coconut. I got really sick, but I don't think it was from the juicing... I was really exhausted from working nights and I got some news that shook me up pretty bad... I don't remember being hungry with the juicing...just exhausted and upset...
Looking forward to day 5 tomorrow! I made another Gallon of my Lemonaide and I'm realy to go!!!
Passed some Mucus today....yuk!

i'm still not feeling very well. not sure what's up... but my tummy is not a happy part of my body right now. i made a cucumber, romaine lettuce juice and it was very bland - i think cathy will love it to be honest. something made me think of her (perhaps the green lemonaide???) anyway... i gave it to my dogs. (who loved it).
i'll pass on dinner. i know i'll feel better tomorrow... or the day after... ... i will... won't i?

We were supposed to go to a homeschooling un-school picnic today but no seems to want to leave the house - so I guess we'll skip it!

Hello fellow fasters! My day 1 went ok. I had about 4L of juice but felt very cold, irritated (especially with all the prep time required), and then I started questioning why I always have to choose a lifestyle and regime that isolates me from the rest of the world. Anyway, I allowed myself to feel these thoughts without sinking too deeply into them, and I hope that I can release the negativity. I must continually remember to be grateful that I have this opportunity to improve my health. On to day 2!

I guess I am detoxing because I have been blowing my nose for the past 3 to 4 days. Now my nose just runs uncontrollably.
Anyone got any health tips to stop this? Or maybe this is what my body needs to do, but is aggravating when mucus just drips out of your nose uncontrollably when you have no tissue to readily available to wipe it up.

i'm about to start drinking my water... and then... i don't know what. i'll take it moment by moment. may even just do water till dinner... not sure. i'm hoping my tummy is happier today.

You've done much longer than 25 days so you know you can do it again. It's always a bit easier each time you fast. Get your head in the zone and just go for it.
What I find is very helpful: The food will still exist when you are done your fast. You don't HAVE to break your fast to taste/eat it now. You can have it when you are done fasting.
That mindset assists me greatly! Especially when I find myself at a potluck surrounded by foods.

Thanks again Aleesha. I needed that because it has been a very long time since I've done 55 days. The part about the food will still be there, that definitely helped me in the past and thanks for the reminder.
I write what I call "The Contingency Plan". I list every possible scenario that I can think of that might potentially cause me to think of breaking my fast before I'm ready, then I list of plan for how I will handle it should it happen. I just hope it's as powerful for me this time as it has been in the past. For those who've never tried this, it worked so well for me. For example, I know I am going to crave chocolate at some point, so my plan is to make a chocolate juice using raw conconut water mixed with raw cacao powder. Another example, at some point I will be convinced that I am so freaking hungry and I should just go ahead and eat and start again tomorrow. Well, instead, my plan requires that I drink as much water and/or juice that I can hold such that I can't think of putting anything more in my stomach. I have about 20 scenarios but you get the idea.

Good idea. Although taking in raw cacao on a fast is unwise. Your body has to digest it... and we want our digestion to rest on a juice fast (sleep on a water fast). So although that may be something you choose to allow on your fast, I'm just reminding the rest of the fasters that it isn't something they may want to allow.
My contingency plan is more open ended. I don't plan for specifics, I know there will be times that are harder than others. During those times I can go for a walk, read a book, have a bath, so in the sauna, talk it through with my hubby, watch a movie, come online for support - in short... I do something to change the focus of my mind.
I don't focus on cravings at all. If I have one - I know my body is releasing toxins attached to that food. I simply welcome it and honour it as it leaves. And then I redirect my mind to focus on something else.

Oh how I wish I could be as confident as you and simply change my focus. I can't tell you how many times I've started and stopped in the past. But the moment I created a contingency plan for how I would deal with the situations before they happened, I was finally able to complete what I started.
I look forward to continuing to follow your progress. Do you have a time line as to when you will stop or are you just going until? I'm sure I would find that in earlier post but I'm being lazy.

i've had MANY fasts where i'm not fully committed or fully in the zone - trust me. many. i just take each one as perfect and right in that moment and move forward from there. i don't believe in guilt while fasting (or any other time to be honest) but especially while fasting. there is no right or wrong choice... there are simply choices. we make them, we live with the outcome. period.
so when i'm making a choice, i make sure it's a conscious choice and then i accept the outcome. if that means breaking my fast, then i do so mindfully. doesn't mean i can't start my fast again tomorrow and continue on. doesn't mean i won't take a short break before fasting again. cause the reality is... we can always fast again. there is no "this is the only time ever".
being gentle with yourself, redirecting your mind and also focusing on what you really want. do you really want to break you fast? is that REALLY what you want to do? or are you just focusing on a food item at this time and not on the reality of the situation. cause there really isn't anything you can't do while fasting.
i've attended potlucks, weddings, baby showers, gone to a restaurant, cooked for my family... gone hiking, camping, on a road trip, to the water slides... there really isn't anything you can't do. so if you tell yourself "i have to break my fast because of this event" you are making a choice, cause you could always make the other choice "to stay on your fast".
i know i'm rambling... sorry everyone. LOL
as for the length of my fast. eleventy-one days is my mini-goal... at this time. that's all i'm willing to share publicly. *wink*

I am so thankful for Aleesha's "rambling"!!!!!! :D (which of course is NOT "rambling"!!!!!) LOL!!!!! You are SOOOO completely right!!! I really appreciate you helping us to stay focused! :) Breaking or continuing fasts are a conscious choice! I've noticed my thinking is very different on this fast. ...yea, the Lemonaide helps me not to be hungry, but COMMITTING to myself made a huge impact on me. I'M the one choosing to continue for ME...:). On Aug 26th, I began with the following promises to ME:
I promise:
* I will NOT break my fast without pre-planning to do so.
* I will PRAY, focus, meditate, and renew my committment to myself and my fast each day.
* I will NOT visit any Food threads until my fast is over!!!! (yea, this one has been hard to stick to!!!!!!)
* I will NOT let myself get hungry.
* I will print out these promises and place them on my fridge as a reminder to myself..
So, this commitment continues to be my focus. I'm looking forward to getting Alissa's new book when I'm done and as a gift to myself I am going to do another 60 day Challenge using the new recipes!!!!
So much to look forward to!!!!!

It is all about making that commitment. No matter how much you fast or haven't fasted... it's about the commitment. If you are not fully IN your fast, you'll break it. Cause the habit of eating is how many years old... deeply ingrained in you? It takes some major WON'T power to overcome that kind of programming.

i find cinnamon oil helps to reduce my hunger. not sure why... bu it does. just a little on the skin. it burns a little if you don't cut it with something though... and i never cut it with anything LOL

I am in the middle of Day 3 of my first juice fast! And it is going just juicily. Excited to get through today as I hear the next few days will be even better! But who knows, each person is different, right? :rolleyes:
Question: I notice some of you put salt in your juices. This surprises me because when I have water fasted in the past, as soon as I ate salt (or sugar), my digestive system turned on. I could visibly see this happening -- when detoxing my tongue is white white white. Eat salt and within 30 minutes it resumes pink. Is there a reason why you are adding salt to your juice? And do you feel that this is ok for your fast?

When I add salt, its just a little, and I do it for the taste. I have not noticed it turning on my digestion when I use it.

Workout: Ran 3 miles at 6:30 a.m.
Nurishment: Drank juice as planned
Assessment: First day was fairly easy. However, I can already see that drinking the juice is going to be my problem. At this point, I refuse to do the juicing myself and I don't imagine that changing. So I am going to do some searching today to see if I can get the farmer's market, Whole Foods, or Arden's Garden to make some of those fresh tomatoe recipes that I read on this thread. I get tired of the sweet juices very quickly. That tomato juice sounds so good.

trust me... i'm on day 89... if it was turning on my digestion i wouldn't be on day 89! i'd be eating.
we are going into town today. it'll be nice getting out of the house. fall is definitely here... it's been raining all week. i've even had to get out my long underwear for sleeping in again. good news is... i'll be using my sauna daily again. :D that makes me happy - having all those geodes and crystals inside... it's a great place to spend time!

Hi all!
Just checking in!! I'm on day 7 of the M/C!!! I started the day on the stationary BIKE and did 20 minutes. Then, I worked out with weights focusing on my legs and tummy for 40 minutes!!! Then, I still had loads of energy, so I cut my lawn and pulled weeds for another 45 minutes!!!
Whoa!!!! I'm tired now!!! I had my Tea, and I'm ready for the day with my Lemonaide!!!

I'm on day two of water but I may need to break it. I could be called to travel to Florida, as my MIL is seriously ill in the hospital.
I'm trying to decide whether I should end the fast or continue it, becaue of the likelyhood of having to head out in a hurry. Traveling is not easy for me while on food, due to so many food sensitivities and IBS. I've also not traveled while fasting that I can recall, and I'm not sure how I would do while fasting if this all turns for the worst. Barb needs my prayers though, so maybe fasting is the order for the day until shes out of the woods.
Thanks for letting me think this through somewhat by posting my thoughts here.
Any prayers and positive energy sent out for Barb and her doctors would be greatly appreciated. Thank you much.

i'm sending Reiki right now... and if it were me, i'd fast through it. i find that fasting through emotionally tough times really grounds me and assists me to be much stronger.

New development...and I'm worried!!!!!
I just found out that have to go to work on a trip tomorrow! It's not my usual Red Eye trip where I'm home the next morning...it's a few days!!!! I won't be back until Tuesday!!!!! TUESDAY!!! I'm really worried about my fast!!!! :( What in the world should I do!!!!! I'm doing so good too!!!!
I'm so SAD right now!!! This isn't FAIR!!!! I'm so proud of myself so far!!!! I can bring Lemons with me, but I'm not sure they will let me carry Maple Syrup, and I don't think I can handle just water...
I will do the best that I can!!! I absolutely REFUSE to just give up!!! I've come too far to ruin what I've accomplished!!! I've released TEN pounds!!!!!! :). Well, I'll let you know how it goes!!!!

I wish I could just say that!!! :D Airport Security can be a real pain!!! They honestly don't care if that's your only diet. But, I'm not gonna give up!!! I'm gonna find a way to make this work!!! :)
My only real concern is when I'm airborne...feeling light headed or getting sick on the trip. If I break the fast, I think I'm sure to get sick!!! Too many changes in too short a time!! I know I just need to take it slowly and trust that I'll be ok as i continue to fast. I may need to keep repeating that to myself!!!! :)

Hi Renee. Can you fill some nalgene travel bottles with your syrup? Sporting goods stores usually carry those. I forget, is the limit three ounces per bottle? I think the camping section of Wal-mart or Target may have variety packs of them too.
How about sample size bottles of maple syrup. Seems we've had some before. I think they may have been from Cracker Barrel.

As you have all shared fantastic juice recipes that have really inspired me (Aleesha, I plan to try canteloupe/mint this afternoon!), I thought I would share a juice I made today-- this is a delight to your olfactory senses, so I named it as such!
Olfactory Delight Juice (makes one pint)
60g of alfalfa sprouts
60g of roquette/ arugula (It is arugula season right now and it is sooooo good! I would have added more but this was all I had).
20 strawberries (they were on the small side)
juice of 1 lime
1 cucumber

I woke up one morning 14 days ago, after eating a SAD diet for the last 7 years, and said to my husband, "No more!"
After refreshing myself on juice fasting by reading a great book by Paavo Airola, I decided to juice fast for as long as I can.
I am trying to beat bladder cancer right now, after a diagnosis in April this year, and it has finally "hit" me right between the eyes, that I simply could not keep putting my body under duress, and so I started fasting.
It has now been 14 days, and I am going STRONG!
I enjoyed a watermelon, pineapple (fresh Aussie Queensland ones, YUM!), green apple, young coconut water, spinach and beetroot greens smoothie for dinner! My husband even joined me by having a glass!
Someone mentioned colonics - they are AWESOME, and I highly recommend them, especially when detoxing, or combatting disease. They are one of the best ways to eliminate toxins out of the body quickly.
It is important to find an experienced practitioner, and someone with whom you are comfortable with.
You have to remember, that modern medicine and natural medicine are often diametrically opposed! There are not many doctors in the system who will agree with colonics, because the idea is not conducive to their medical view.
I would recommend researching them for yourself in depth, and take a good look into the benefits, as well as the risks (which in my personal opinion are extremely rare, and often over-emphasized by nay-sayers).
Anyway, off to have a bedtime juice - carrot, celery, apple and ginger!

Kazann, greens heal, fruits cleanse... I highly recommend greens added to every juice you consume. Herbs are excellent choices for greens and very beneficial to you. Welcome to this thread.
I am pondering the idea of adding some water days to my fast. I've decided to wait for tomato season to be over though. The markets are overflowing with beautiful organic tomatoes for little money and I can't resist getting my fill before I switch to water. So that's what I'll do.

That means I fasted for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 days and then 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 days and then 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 days and 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 days... and then 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60 days of fasting. Then I did day 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80 and then day 81, 82 and let's not forget day 83. There's day 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 and now... day 90. That is a LOT of days living on raw live juices, water, tea and NOTHING ELSE! Wow... what a huge achievement. And I'm not done yet!!!

You're so welcome!!! For those who are following this thread, I thought I'd tell you what I told streetsurfer...
* You CAN put it (Water or Maple Syrup or any other liquid) in the checked luggage (sealed nice and tightly, of course)!!!
* Some Airports allow "working" Crews to bring water through, others don't. So....I may not have a problem the way I'm expecting too, simply because I will be in uniform, but this is the first time I'm doing this and I'm worried that they may take my Maple Syrup!!! If they say they will, I think I will check my bag and not worry about it!!!
* Either way, I'm NOT breaking my fast! :)
I'd like to add to that: You can also get provisions at the places you visit!!! I plan to do that if I run out of Maple Syrup on the road...or, in the air!!! :p There is usually a Store of some sorts near the hotel that I'm sure I can get things from, or I will check with the hotel restaurant.
I was also worried about how the fast will affect me in the air... I've fasted before while flying and felt light headed at times... I'm hoping that won't happen, but if it does, I'll just deal with it. This is something I WANT to continue to do. I made a committment to myself and I plan to see it through!!!
So, I'm NOT breaking my fast!!!! :cool:

Kazann, Sorry to hear about your health problems. I'm sure it is hard to follow doctors orders and also what you feel is right in your heart. I have read some great stuff on beating cancer and there are too many positive results with alternative healing for it not to work. Good luck.

I am on day three of my fruit juice feast/fast. I have released 1.5 pounds and feel lighter and cleaner. I am going to continue on and keep it up one day at a time. Healthy raw goodness to detox me.

i had a great day. made pineapple/mint juice with spirulina in it. it was a lovely green colour! i sipped it all morning at my homeschooling meeting. then we went out to get some additional supplies and picked up 30 pounds of tomatoes. i'm very pleased.
i just had my tom juice blend and a warm bath afterwards. whenever i drink my juice i get so cold - even if they aren't chilled juices. so weird...
anyway, i'm a happy faster today. i am feeling so good on this fast. so health-filled. so much energy...

I haven't since Monday - so I figure I will soon. I don't feel at all like I have to though.
I'm going to pick up some scallions and see how I like them juiced. See if it changes the flavours of my juices at all. I have some new blends to try over the next while... I'm looking forward to them. ;)
I had a dream last night that it was day 100 for me and I ate a cabbage. LOL I looked around the room and said, "Oh wow, I guess I just broke my fast!" I went into the bathroom and cried... I was so upset with myself.

Today is my day 5, and it was by far my toughest day yet. I was hungry and empty feeling all day. I came very close to breaking several times, but I kept telling myself - do this first, and then you can break. And now the day has passed and I am starting to feel much better. Wow! Can't believe I made it through. Also surprised that today, day 5, I was hungry... seems a little late in the process, but well, I was!

no i don't. i believe that my body knows exactly what to do. i just had a gorgeous bm all on it's own. my cantaloupe juice probably assisted it but that's the only assistance i like to do. if i'm in need of some assistance, i'll use cascara sagrada or a bowel assisting tea... but those times are rare.
there's no rhyme or reason to fasting... some days are true bliss... others notsomuch. congrats for making it through the latter!
it's the end of week 13 for me... and i'm off to have a GREAT day.

We just got back from a mini vacation at the beach. It was very nice, except my dad has been sick while we were down there so I have been concerned about him and calling my mom to check on him. He seemed to be doing better today and was keeping food down for the first time in several days. He was very weak, though, and had refused to let Mom call the ambulance yesterday when she tried to get him to go for help. Today he fell and she called my uncle to come help. They got him in his chair and called an ambulance. He stopped breathing and the last I heard they hadn't revived him and said it didn't look good. I've been waiting to hear news and preparing to have to pack again and head out in the morning.
DH and I were going to fast starting Monday, but now we don't know quite what we're going to be doing. I did good at the beach, though, and would do 24 hour fasts and just eat dinner.
My hair test results came back. Everything has improved except my thyroid and digestion and I'm getting too many carbs... probably in fruit, so I will have to avoid that and stop having melon since that has been a big weakness for me. I am disappointed that my thyroid hasn't improved. It has been a long battle for me with that!
Doing laundry and making a list of what needs to be packed in case I get "that call" and go into shock and can't think clearly. Tomorrow is DH's birthday, but we aren't sure what it's going to be like at this point.

Since January, we've lost my aunt (my dad's sister), my late husband's mother, a cousin and now my dad. Fortunately, I have a strong faith or I'd be crumbled up in a pile on the floor.
I'm waiting for my son to get here and for DH to wake up.

Today is day 10 for me! I know 10 days isn't much, but it's huge for me!!! I celebrated my 10th day by going to the gym and running almost 1 1/2 miles and working with weights.
I was doing almost 2 1/2 miles before I started my fast, but I can't seem to get up there because I get tired faster. But, I'm ok with that! I'm running more now than i have in a VERY long time! I'm so happy with what I'm doing right now!!!!
I'm going on my 2 day trip today. THIS one I can handle and continue to fast!!!!

I too had a restless night of wierd, not so good, dreams...
I have been doing lots of research and studying. I just had my last two mercury fillings removed on Thursday and I'm so ready to detox this body!! I want to do as much as I can to help it heal.
I will be doing a short 5-7 day fast starting on Saturday, but I'm wanting to do a longer 30 day fast starting in October. My husband wants to do the longer fast with me too again. I'm very excited about that.

Today was my day 6. It sounds so tiny, but to me it is an enormous achievement. :rolleyes: each day is so unique and so different. Today was a great day, I was living in the moment and had so many clear aha moments that sometimes I would even burst out with an exclamation. !

what you don't realize is every single day we fast is of equal importance. you don't get to 10 without going through 6 and you don't get to 93 without going through 10!
so no matter what the total number of days... each and every day is sacred and a bigger part of the whole.
one day, seven days, thirty-two... it matters not. what matters is that there IS day one!
whoa, yes a tea fast is fine... just make it herbal and no green, black or white teas as those are stimulating.
i'm in intermission on LOTRs... they are about to form the fellowship! i've drank nothing but water today. i'd love to do the entire day on water... we'll see where it takes me. i'm not 'firm' on water... but i am pleased i've done nothing but water so far today. i figure 3 or 4 litres so far... i'm not sure, i haven't been keeping track.

i was thinking of doing another fast on the 16 of this month. i was thinking sence i was in school and getting and giving 1hr massages everyday (i am going to school for massage therapy)that the detox would speed up, sence going to starting school i have started detoxing again. good luck every one...

I'm So sorry Missy. How awful to lose your Dad and so many other family this year. {{{hugs}}} I can't imagine what you are going through.
Day 2 here and so far so good. Yesterday went for a walk in the forest and really felt connected to nature. I love how everything seems brighter more real when fasting. Today I'm shopping and getting plenty of fresh fruit I can juice this week.

Hi all!
I'm at the Airport, and I'm not gonna lie....this is HARD! Not just the smells, but my gate is near Jamba Juice and my favorite Salad stand is staring me in the face!!!!!!
But, I have lots of large Lemons with me and I made up my Lemonaide, so I'm trying to sip on that and be happy about it.... Hummmmm.....well, I'm TRYING!!!!!!! :)
I know I'll be much happier once I get back home!!!

okay so i just did water all day (as you know) i never bothered to have any juice. i'm grumpy... which is the norm for me when i'm on water. this mama doesn't like going without any energy *aka sugars* for the day. i like my energy in a cup *juice*
i don't know if i'll continue with water tomorrow or move back into juices. i guess i'll just play it by ear.
LOTRs was good - as usual. although it took forever to watch it with all my pee breaks and my hubby deciding to do tank mtce (fish tanks) during it LOL

rawmaggie, today is day 93 and i've been doing a juice fast, some days of high water (4-6 litres) and just juice at dinner... and yesterday was my first all water day. i'm going to do another all water day today.
the biggest bonus to all water days is the weight release and higher detox. i went from 149.0 pounds yesterday morning to 146.2 pounds this morning. but for me, in this moment... my daughter and hubby are both sick and i don't want to get it so i'll continue on water to keep my body on high productivity (healing wise). since we are just hanging around the house anyways, i don't need a whole lot of energy to do stuff so water is fine.
so far on this fast (just to give you the whole goods here)... i started at 180.0 pounds so in 93 days i've released a total of 33.8 pounds. nothing too major considering the length of the fast. obviously i can still stand to release another 20+ pounds so i'm not in any danger of getting too thin. i'm 5'4".
i released most of that weight in the first month of fasting.
last night - surprisingly was my best night sleep in a while. no weird dreams... so that was a nice change. i had a very deep sleep.

renee, i can feel your empowerment through the computer screen... i'm soooooo pleased for you!!! when you overcome challenges while fasting... it gives you so much confidence. i love that about fasting and it's part of the reason i'm doing this extended fast... (((hugs)))

my teeth are no longer fuzzy. not sure when it happened but i realized today as my teeth were squeaking while i brushed them... that they don't get fuzzy anymore. they've moved into a new space of being.
and with my occasional ice chewing... my teeth don't feel loose or sore either with this fast. nice change from past extended fasts.

It surprised me actually at how hungry I was yesterday on water only. It was a struggle, just as days 1-3 of fasting are. I would have thought it would be much less considering I've been living on juices for so long, but I guess my body now sees juice as it's 'food' and is happy to let me know when it wants/needs more.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself ( Rawpromises) and say that I will be joining all of you on Wed on a juice fast. This is my first juice fast ever. I have been reading all of your comments each day and am inspired to switch over to feel the benefits I so deserve for myself and this 38th year on earth. Currently I am doing my Birthday cleanse in another thread on this forum but I have set the intention to switch over after a week which wil be this Wed. I thank all of you for any love and support and can't wait to begin checking in. I have set no time line on how long I will juice fast. I will take it day by day. Since this will be my first fast however many day will be wonderful. Right now I'm detoxing big time but in a strange way feel better than ever. See you Wed.

i am so tired, so unable to function that typing is a chore right now. this water fast is knocking the stuffin' outta me. i can't even imagine functioning this weekend on water. so unless this changes (which from my experience with water it will) i won't be fasting long on water. but again... my experience tells me i will have strength soon... i'll just have to wait for it.
super dizzy, room goes black if i don't get up reaaaaaaally slow. taking things very slow today. very slow.

Congrats Aleesha on your long fast.
I am still water fasting and feel great only had one dizzy day. I plan to do water fasting for another 4 days and then a week of juice. The 3rd and 9th day were my only hard days. I would go longer with water fasting but I am planning another 30 to 40 day water fast in the middle of October.

wow you are a champ. this water only is kicking my butt to the curb! i had a small glass of juice (cantaloupe, ginger, mint and lots of water) so i will have enough energy to go to my meditation tonight. i even slept for 2 hours this afternoon and i never nap. i'm not a napper... but i had to. i couldn't even fathom keeping my eyes open and my head held upright any longer.

I am doing this now because I am moving in 2 weeks, fasting just feels right during a huge transition.

when I'm eating I take digestive enzymes. Quit or continue while fasting??

yes it is. the longest i've done is 20 days... and that was during my 84 day fast a few years ago.
i hope to one day do a 40 day water fast... it's a personal goal of mine... but honestly water is hard. really hard. i'm a wimp... i can fast like a goddess on juice but restrict me to water and i'm just not cut out for it.
but someday i will be. someday i'll be into that kind of a fast. *a little positive self talk here*
i think tomorrow will be a juice day for me. enough of this water for me LOL

you know... i have to say... my hunger is gone but my desire to eat has not. it's been here for most of this fast. yup... even on day 93 i am still desiring food in a solid form. go figure :rolleyes:

I think a 40 day water fast would be too dangerous. I read about these 12fasters and they all died between 50 - 70 days. 40 is just a little close to those stats for my comfort. I'm a wimp though .. I only have to get dizzy and I want to get something in just in case lol.

Wow, it's been so long since I've fasted (for me). Reading the last few pages of this thread makes me feel so at home again... I miss fasting! I'm starting a fasting journey today and hope to make it a minimum of three weeks. My mom is visiting me in 5 weeks, and in 7 weeks I get married, so ideally I'd like to have my body adjusted to eating solids before these big events occur. Anyway, I've recently lost my job and my fiance lost his earlier this year... add that to the wedding coming up so soon and I'm feeling a bit of stress, pressure and emotion. This equated to poor eating choices on my part. I've gained a bit of weight from my bad eating habits and instead of feeling like a glowing bride-to-be, I am grumpy, achy, gassy and lifeless. I need my spirit to wake up! I am fasting to lighten my mind and my body, to find focus and motivation, and to help relieve stress. These are the benefits I usually find when I fast, so I know that this wonderful world awaits me! I got sick for the fist time in ages this past month, and I just know that it's bc I started eating SAD foods again.
Oh yes, and the glowing skin and gorgeous teeth, nails and hair that come from fasting will certainly assist in making me feel prettier when I walk down the aisle :)

Guess what? I'm on DAY 12!!!!!! DAY 12!!!!! Can you believe it!!! :D
This morning, I did a Salt Water Flush....NOT my favorite, but BOY it sure got some stuff outta there!!!! :eek: I don't think I could do this on a daily basis, but I think I can handle every few days or so...maybe once a week.
Still continuing on the Lemonaide today... It's funny, I feel my "shape" coming back now, especially around my hips! I've gotten several compliments from people who can tell I'm losing weight! That does feel good!
I have the entire week off right now, unless I pick up a flight to work.... So, I'm gonna just enjoy this time off and stay in BLISS...
I'm so glad I'm doing this! :)
OOOHHH, things are startin' to move again south... Time for the Queen to visit the THRONE............again!!!! ;)

Yesterday - Monday - Day 6.
Workout: 6:30 a.m. 40 minutes on the elliptical
3 sets of push ups
Nourishment: Drank juice as planned.
Assessment: Enjoying the lighter feeling in general. And I love the way my nasal just continues to feel as if it's opening. Again, it's not easy to explain the feeling but it's like my nose, throat, and head are getting clearer even though they don't feel clogged. I feel it as it's happening and I like the feeling. My 4's are fitting the way I like them. My 2's are wearable but I prefer them a bit loser.

mystic, i don't subscribe to stuff like you shared. water fasting is not for people who have unclean bodies. the toxins can come out too fast (hence why i don't recommend it for people) and breaking the fast is soooooooo important that it's done right. there is no room for error.
but i fast a LOT... my body is very clean. fasting on water would be a different experience for me. AND i know when to call it quits (like i did yesterday)... i don't hold out for the goal! but... that said... i have to get strong enough to do it first LOL
my two days were enough. i'll feed my body with juices for a week and then do a few more days. i gratefully enjoyed the weight release of 4.2 pounds. i'm looking forward to attending a birth day party this weekend for a friend on saturday night. i know i'll feel good in my clothes! (not size 4 like free... but my size 8 is a little big on me now!)
my weight today is 144.6. if i know my body like i think i do. it'll hold to that number till i water fast again. i'm happy with that. breaking the 150 mark was a very difficult task in the past. i've only done it once... for one day in the past 12 years. and before i got pregnant 12 years ago... i was 142 pounds. so i'm almost there. *smiles*

So cool to still see this thread here! I'm on day 1 of a juice fast, which I'll probably be doing water/or my own version of the lemonade depending on time. I've fasted this year anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks. The last long fast I did was 51 days back in early spring 2009. It's time to seriously detoxify so this time I plan on beating my longest fasting length of time...I'm not sure how long though..definitely 60 days. Man, I can't wait to be able to say I've fasted so and so amount of time. Thus far today I've had:
1 qt distilled water w/juice of 1/2 lime
1 qt juice of celery, green romaine, cuc, one kale leaf (leftovers, lol) and golden apples..tastes like a green apple lolipop, haha
I have cantaloupe juice and pineapple juice for later. I plan on exercising too but will take it easy when I feel it's needed. I went to the gym yesterday.
Onward we go and much blessings to all of you today. :)

Aleesha, I just have to keep thanking you for the details because I would like to do at least one or two water days before I end my fast. I've never done one before. I expect my body to respond quite well because 1) I've been living a relatively healthy lifestyle for awhile and 2) I've almost done a water day in the past by default because I didn't want any more juice. However, I ended up drinking a little juice before bed because I hadn't considered the possibility of doing all water at that time. My point is that I felt fine. Your stats are looking good... 144.6 is awesome!!!!!!!!!! Now that will feel pretty darn good going to the party.

Aleesha, I just have to keep thanking you for the details because I would like to do at least one or two water days before I end my fast. I've never done one before. I expect my body to respond quite well because 1) I've been living a relatively healthy lifestyle for awhile and 2) I've almost done a water day in the past by default because I didn't want any more juice. However, I ended up drinking a little juice before bed because I hadn't considered the possibility of doing all water at that time. My point is that I felt fine. Your stats are looking good... 144.6 is awesome!!!!!!!!!! Now that will feel pretty darn good going to the party.
Thank you and yes, congratulations Aleesha. :) I love when you're in a fast, so deep into it that you naturally end up drinking water some days or just lemon water due to timing...and it works out very well. Looking soooo forward to the fasting high and the emptiness. Fasting ROCKS!

free, just remember to follow your body and your needs at the time. YES you will feel dizzy and lightheaded on water. YES you will feel completely exhausted. YES you will feel unwell... that's water fasting. But be sure to add in a watered down juice if you are feeling like something is happening that is not the norm... it's always better to be safe. especially when there is no one there to support you (like being at a fasting retreat).

At this point (noon) I've only been drinking water. I'm feeling very weak but since my hubby is even sicker than yesterday and my daughter is on the mend... I really don't want to get what they have. So I'll do water till dinner and then I'll decide what to do beyond then.
I've been getting lots of work done on my magazine today. I think it's time for the third installment of LOTRs though... *myyyyy precious*

Well, it's only 11:30 a.m here in Hawaii and I've only had water bc, well, I am ill prepared and do not have anything in the house to juice! I am feeling very nauseous... so heading out to the health food store now to load up on delicious things to juice! I can't wait to make all of my favorite juice recipes again.
Oh, Aleesha, that is so fantastic that you are below 150 for the first time in a long time... congratulations! I suppose I will weigh myself today to monitor my weight loss. I'm scared to get on the scale... I know from the tightness of my clothes (especially the tightness of my bra) that I've gained a lot of lbs. However when I wake up tomorrow morning a few lbs lighter it will help keep me motivated! The first few days are always the hardest for me. Glad I have this thread to help get me through...

I was just sitting here telling myself I will make it through the first few days as they may be the toughest! I'm blissful yet a little tired now with a slight headache. It doesn't compare though when we don't feel comfortable in your skin so we can do this. :)

I'm sure you're right Aleesha. These fasters where all in prison so they would of been filled with toxins. Listening to your body is so important. It will tell you how best to heal itself. Congrats on getting under 150. Great job. You would really be noticing the difference now.
I'm reading up on fasting and that is really helping with motivation. I am less hungry today so that is a blessing. It's great how busy this thread is. Loads of support. I love hearing how everyone is going.

Me too Cathy. It's so nice to be water fasting and not being so exhausted that I can't even go pee. My energy isn't at all high... but I have nothing to do tonight anyway so it doesn't matter.
Mystic, that doesn't surprise me. Who knows what drugs they did before and during their time in prison! That's why I don't put much stock in stories like that. (no offense meant) but even when you shared it with us, you didn't mention that they were prisoners... so often the stories get shared but only parts. The important parts often get left out (or distorted).
I've found over the years that research is essential to true knowledge. I never take anyone's word for things... I research it to find out if it's true or not. I hope all of you will do the same. Don't believe me just cause I say it, or anyone else on this thread (or in life)... check it out and see if it's true for YOU.
Personally I'm all about experiencing things to find out if they are true or not. I've fasted on water for 20 days and it's wasn't a horrid experience... and I wasn't nearly as clean then as I am now. I've heard and read about how the cleaner your system is the safer it is to fast on water (and easier as well) for extended periods. That when your system is unclean that water fasting can be too toxic for your organs. It can cause too much detox too quickly... and that juice fasting is recommended to those who are not clean.
I'm not saying my body is totally clean... as I don't believe that. But it is much cleaner than it was a few years ago! And yet... water fasting is still such a huge challenge for me. I hope one day I will fast on water for 40 days. I hope...

My energy have plummeted since I last posted. I have zero energy. I want to go to bed but my hubby is telling me to stay up (it's 7:12) till at least 8:30. I doubt I'll make it that late though. I'm sooooooooo low energy-wise.
Man water fasting is not easy like juice fasting is for me. THIS is a challenge!

Holy cow, today was tough! Thank goodness my fiance was by my side all day to encourage me to "drink more juice!" and fight the hunger pangs. I really wanted to eat. I was nauseous and fatigued all day no matter how much I drank. I know that each day will get better, though. I can do it!

Lol, since no one has posted since my last one, I just keep adding to it - like an online monologue! I feel like my brain has given up. For 7 days it tried to convince me to eat, and then once I passed that first week and it realized I was keeping on, it started to shut up. However it did give a good holler on the evening of Day 8 but not about food, just a bunch of gobledygook. And now today it is quiet. Quiet to the point where I am kind of out of it. I think it gave up. Hee hee. I wonder what it's doing.

Good morning fasters. Today is my first day of juice fasting after coming off of my Birthday cleasne. Thanks for having me. This is my first fast and I'm hoping to get at least 3 days but am not setting an time limits for myself. I have read and reread threads that say listen to your body so this is what I intend to do. I had the most wonderful juice of kale, celery,carrots, and little tiny apples we picked up at our CSA share yesterday. I really am loving this juice this morning. DIVINE!!!!!! I am still having many detoxing issues with my ears and skin from my cleanse and am hoping my juice fast will help me in this area. Wow my juice is so good this morning. I'm just sipping and typing. Typing and sipping.

My mind is already more clear, and I知 more focused in doing things that just have to get done. I did a series of enemas last night too, so I知 sure that is helping. brain-dumb is something that happens to me here and there while fasting. i'm not sure why it happens, but i know it does. i also know it passes. tg, i hope yours passes quickly. one quick question... have you had a bowel movement? sometimes that helps to move symptoms out of your body. so if you haven't... consider having one. using whatever method you prefer. i use apple juice myself... or a bowel aid tea... sometimes cascara sagrada... but other people use colonics, enemas and SWF (salt water flushes). it's just a suggestion though...

mystic, you and i are equals today it seems. i woke up as exhausted as when i went to bed last night. i can barely stand up. i can feel how slow my heart is in my chest. yesterday i walked three houses away to collect our mail and it was like i was drunk. i was weaving in the street and had a hard time catching my breath. i would spend the day in bed reading but reading is too much for me right now. if you all knew how many times i had to read and reread your posts just to understand what you were saying.
this is day four of my water fast... and day ninety-five of my fast. i am very pleased with the weight release i'm getting from water - a total side bonus to doing this :D and definitely a motivating force to keep you going (if that IS your focus in doing a water fast) but alas, it's not my motivating factor. mine is to simply see if i can do it. i love to challenge myself (not that anyone would guess that considering i'm on day ninety-five of my fast LOL).
i was bored with my juices and i know from past experience that if you change up your fast a bit... it makes it feel new and fresh. so that's what i'm doing. think of how excited my taste buds will be to drink juice again!
today may be that day. i'll take it moment by moment. my hubby wants me to drink juice today as he doesn't like to see me so unable to function... but since he's sick and can't function what exactly do i need to do other than make him his food - which is quick and easy to do. i also have two kids in the house who can prepare food... so he's taken care of. my point here is... if he's just sitting around watching movies and relaxing... then i can just as easily sit with him and water fast.
wow, i am rambling this morning... LOL
i'm down to a lovely 143.2 pounds this morning. that's another 1.4 pound release yesterday. a total of 5.8 pounds in four days.
regardless of everything i have a very busy weekend so i'll be back on juices by thursday afternoon at the latest. so i'll take today as it comes and decide what to do.
from reading this post you may be thinking, "okay lady of awen in the fellowship of fasters, it is time for you to take up the juicer and use it!" it may seem like i'm taking it too far... but honestly... this IS what water fasting is. i've done it before and that's why i don't recommend it to newcomers... water fasting is the hardest fast we'll ever do. okay fasting on nothing but air would be harder but you get my point here...
so don't be too concerned my friends. i am taking this moment by moment and if i see that i truly need to grab some juice... i will do just that!

i just wanted to add (since i said so little already LOL) that water fasting is heavy detox... and also heavy healing. so when we are exhausted while fasting (whether on water or juice) know that your body is putting ALL it's available energy into healing. this is when true healing happens. so embrace your exhaustion. give into it. rest. let your body use it's energy for what it deems as the most important.

I just had a bath and although it was hard getting out (even though it was not hot) - I was very dizzy... went to my bed still wet and laid down for 20 minutes before drying off... I'm sipping on tea (echinecia and mint) and I'm feeling a tiny bit better. I simply told my body that if wants me to continue on water it needs to give me a bit more umph. Cause otherwise I'm switching back to juices LOL
I've ordered two products to try on this fast. One is E3Live and the other is another of their products which is not frozen like E3Live is, it's in a powdered form.

Hello everyone,
I haven’t had time to post due to a busy day at work. Still have a lot more work to do but I wanted to take a quick moment to post. I see a lot of new posts from different people since my last sign on. I wish I had time to comment on each but since I don’t let me at least say kudos to everyone and I’m so glad you are all here.
I have finally completed my first week and am now on Day 8.
Workouts: I worked out every day because that what I am accustomed to and I am also training for a half marathon. The workouts feel great and I adjust my efforts based on how I feel that day.
Nourishment: For the most part I’ve been enjoying all of the amazing freshly squeezed juice. Sometimes I do tire of the sweet tasting juices. Not to mention, it is costing me a fortune to have someone else do it but that’s the only way I am going to stick with it.
Overall Assessment for Week 1:
Unlike what I had anticipated, the first week was fairly easy. While I’ve had no feeling of hunger (not even on days 1 through 3), I do miss the act of eating.
Sleep: OMG, I have been sleeping like a baby and I wake up feeling so energized which is when I workout in the mornings.
Healings: As noted before, there is definitely a positive impact on my nasal, throat, and head. I think this contributes to my feeling of light, energized, and just joyful. No bowel movements so I guess I will do an enema over the weekend.
Weight: Lost 9 lbs. Started at 133 lbs and am now 124 lbs. I must admit that while I want very much to know that I am cleansing and healing my body, I want even more to drop these pounds and to keep them off. Part of me wants to act like this doesn’t matter, but I must be truthful and tell you that losing the weight and keeping it off is huge for me. When I see the way my clothes fit, I am ecstatic and it motivates me to continue.
Does anyone know if Yerba Mate is conducive to fasting?

try having a litre of apple juice and see if that moves your bowels... works for me everytime!

About algae... isn't chlorella an algae?? I bought some and started taking it yesterday. I have only taken 1 tsp. at a time so far. I believe I can take up to a Tablespoon. Its not very tastey to me, but I'll continue for the health benefits :rolleyes: How long should I take it??

giggling... I loooove the taste of chlorella. It's my treat on a fast. It's like eating nuts!!! You'll grow to love it, it doesn't always taste like dirt. LOL
I take both (when I'm in the mood) chlorella and spirulina. You can take it as long as your body says "yes" to it. When you find that you are forgetting to take it, that's a sign your body is done for now.

Aleesha, I am okay with the stimulation but only if it's okay when fasting. I did a little research but haven't found any trusting source as of yet. I was wondering if any one has tried it or does it fall into the same category as coffee when it comes to fasting. I would never consume coffee while fasting but hey, I don't consume coffee period:).

Oh, thanks for the apple juice tip. I don't think I can bare it but it's good to know. Right now I am forcing down apple, pear, and ginger. I don't know why I stop liking the sweet juices so fast. This is coming from someone who is a sweetaholic. I don't know what I would do without agave in my life but yet, I tire of sweet juices so easily. My whole point is that I wonder if this liter of apple, pear, and ginger should have the same affect as apple alone?

you don't want to take in anything stimulating during a fast free... hence my response :)
try apple/cinnamon. very nice and not so sweet.
also... why not drink some juices like:
apple/spinach/celery/ginger - not sweet
beet/carrot/ginger - not sweet
and both easy to get at juice bars.

I am a huge research person but just haven't had the time while at work this week. I am definitely going to incorporate some these teas throughout the day. I love waking up and reading all of the new posts on this thread. I'm behind everyone in time zones, so I get to play catch up first thing in the a.m!
Today I woke up 3 lbs lighter. Ahhh the immediate benefits of fasting! Last night I drank a ton of fresh pressed OJ right before bed... don't know why. I thought "this sugar before bed cannot be good" but alas, I slept the best I've slept in months and shed some water weight too. The body wants what the body wants, when it wants it. It's so wonderful to finally have a clear head so that I can actually listen to my body for a change!
I have only had water so far today but I'm feeling hunger, so I'm going to make some green juice. The thought of apple and cinnamon sounds so amazing, I wish I had apples right now!
Oh I do have a question: I noticed in the past people mentioning the use of psyllium and bentonite clay (referenced as "PB Shakes") and am curious about it. Does anyone use this to aid in cleansing and pushing toxins out? I don't know much about it... I suppose I can do a search here, but any info from my fellow fasters who might have experience with the PB drinks would be great! Thanks!

To Freedom, maybe try adding more greens to all your drinks to cut down the sweetness. I have been doing primarily green juices, and adding 30% greens to my fruit juices. This works for me, maybe try and see if it works for you? By the way, zucchini is a great green addition with a nice mild flavor.
NY, I take 1T psyllium husk once or twice a day to ensure my bowels keep on moving. With plenty plenty of water. I don't have access to bentonite so cant comment on that. But I like taking the psyllium. If you have an allergy to wheat though it could bother you.

i don't do PB shakes but i do know you have to use the bentonite that is pre-mixed otherwise you can cause a major blockage to your system. something about it all doesn't resonate with me, hence why i haven't chosen that path for my self.
i've been enjoying tea today... not much water. i just can't choke it down.
i can tell you there's a HUGE difference when it comes to hunger on water. i have zero hunger. no desire for anything. nothing. nada. on juice i do feel the desire to have another juice, my body reminds when it's time to have more. not so on water. everything just shuts down completely.
still very weak... watching a movie. matt damon... how can anyone not love his movies... so a little eye candy while i fast... nice!!!
