so finally was able to find them and not real sure WHAT they are suppose to taste like? a little sweet with a hint of something else.

how can I tell if they are bad? I ate some in my salad this afternoon and have had some tummy issues, same salad I've had 2x this week but this one I added the pine nuts.

as yet I don't have a dehydrator but want to make some chips for ds this weekend I have a small toaster oven and I am thinking of finding the right temp setting to equal 110 degree. would it be an issue to not have a fan to move the warmed air around?

again any comments are appreciated
TIA Ferb

If I eat "normal" pine nuts (the kind we serve in tea at work), I get a really bad stomach ache. Even just a spoonful will make me feel like vomiting. I think it must be that they are non-organic (or possibly toasted). If you buy the pricey, organic fresh pine-nuts, you might be able to handle them better..

well these were in the fresh produce section and vacuum sealed, for some reason I expected a crunch but they were creamy. and I most likely used too many.

Ferb,

Make sure you buy your pine nuts from a purveyor that moves them quickly - like Trader Joe's, for example, which is often sold out of pine nuts. You do not want to shop where the nuts stay on the shelf for a long time.

I keep my pine nuts in the freezer until I need to use them. They are always fresh tasting!

I made sweet potato chips in the dehydrator, and they were okay, but next time they need to have a little salt or some other seasoning on them, as they were very bland. I was thinking a light toss in a bit of olive oil and a sprinkling of garlic powder and/or sea salt might do the trick.
