I bought some sprouting-quality quinoa and cooked some up on the stove like I would oatmeal (high heat). I didn't finish it all, so I put some in the fridge as leftovers. I came back to it the next day, and there were roots all over the place. In fact, it almost seemed like they sprouted faster than in a glass jar! Shouldn't the heat have killed the seeds?

Green sprouts? Or the little white "tails" that quinoa has?
Wow! I've never heard of that (which doesn't mean a thing!) but that is so interesting.
The quinoa that I've sprouted has been the most 'eager' to sprout of any grain/seed I've sprouted. It will be sprouted with tails sitting overnight the soak water!
I'm picturing the quinoa sprouts bursting out of your refrigerator slowly taking over your kitchen space.... Sorry but I needed to laugh and your post gave me the opportunity to do so. I've not yet tried sprouting anything but will definitely try quinoa as it could be a great science experiment for ds.
