View Full Version : Another newbie!

I was actually told by my Colon Hydro-therapist to try raw diet and juice fasting.
She let me taste a little of one of her juices she uses for fasting and it was delicious!
So, here I am! I also need to lose about 40 lbs and already have lost 10 or so from a different weight plan.
I am 39, married with no kids, and we live in So Cal.
I work full time for a utility company.
I will mostly be hanging out in the juice area, although I love to eat, it is not agreeing with my digestive system right now!
I have been weaning off meat and high sugar foods for the past month, and I am slowly drinking more juices each day! I have 2 recipes to share:
Watermelon Rind Juice:
Rind of watermelon no pink or red flesh
juice from 2 lemons
2 t Cayenne pepper
Water to blend
This juice is to replenish good bacteria inside your stomach:
1 cucumber skin on (I use Armenian)
A handful of Spinach
2 celery stalks
2 Cups water
Excited to meet everybody!

Welcome Jengo. :)
I just turned 38, and live a couple states north of ya. *waves frantically*
You might check out the August fasting thread, if you're going to be just drinking juice - most of them are juice fasters, although a few do other types of fasting as well.
Good luck to you - don't be afraid to ask questions as things come up. :)

I did read that topic today! I am glad to have found a hopefully new home in the Fast section.
I hope you are doing well with your issues!
My issue is I work outside and I have limited restroom breaks.
So, I can either "hold it" or try to schedule my RR breaks.
I ride trains all day long and no RR are on board. I think this is why I have GI digestive issues, but, it could also be that I eat too fast, or something else.
Looking forward to being healthier and thinner~!
I am down 10 plus lbs already in 16 days!~

Ouch - lack of bathroom breaks would be hard for me. I think I have the world's tiniest bladder. :P
Congratulations on the 10 pounds lost - that's wonderful! :D
I am doing well with my issues - my food allergies are starting to disappear. Some of them I may never be brave enough to try the foods and see if I still react, but I've tried a few of the more mildly-allergic foods, and I have done well with them. So that's a definite plus, since I started with 12 food allergies, some life threatening.
Anyway, enough about me. I'm glad you're starting off well and doing okay with it. :)

My thing is I have digestive issues, and I need to find a way to lose weight.
Fasting makes sense for now. I love eating food, but I eat the wrong kinds and I eat too fast.
So, I will try the fasting slowly, I will still drink a Jay Rob egg protein shake in the morning, and I may still eat some raw veggies with some almond based soy cheese, but I also will add more juicing to my everyday diet as well.
I am told by my Hydro Dr fiber is no good, and I need to juice per her recipe she gave me for now and to go raw later.

Hi Jengo and welcome to RFT!
So Cal is a great place to be raw - well, anywhere is a great place to be raw, but So Cal has lots of advantages, like sunshine!
I lived in Laguna Beach for many years, now in Bay Area (ugh)

Thanks for the welcome~
I am now searching for a juicer on Craigslist. I think I found a Champion for under 100.00. Does anyone know if they are a pain to clean? I am on day 3 and totally off food now.
Tired of straining the pulp too~

I ended up buying the Champion Juicer. It is from 1980's but is in great shape.
I made some carrot juice and grapefruit juice.
I froze the grapefruit juice and added some water to offset sugars.
I also tried celery and spinach, not good. I can juice those in my magic bullet and drain off the pulp!
