I am exclusively breastfeeding my 6 month old son. Its time for a change! I want to start eating MORE RAW foods.

I gained over 60lbs with my daughter (now 20 months) and after both pregnancies, bed rest, and unhealthy eating habits formed, I am 160lbs.

I always buy organic food for my daughter ,and she eats very healthy, but we are starting to make the transition to my hubby and I (and I guess my son too cause what I eat he eats!)

I want to do a fruit/veggie juice/smoothie fast. I LOVE BoltHouse Farms fruit/veggie smooties.

My father-in-law is getting married in 2 weeks, and I would ideally like to do this fast until the wedding, and afterwards, I would like to eat raw 75% of the time.. but obviously work my way up to that.

I want to lose 30lbs, between eating right and diet and exercise.

Is this safe to fast/detox while breastfeeding? And will fasting for 2 weeks help me lose weight also?

Im in the same position with my 9 month old..the more I look into it..the more it seems like its not a good idea to do a drastic fast while breastfeeding...due to the toxins releasing into the breast milk and then obviously entering your little one...

First off, welcome!

Fasting on pre-made juices isn't healthy. The nutrition is very very low once a juice is more than a day old. So it's a very bad idea to fast on packages juices.

Fasting while breastfeeding is a really really bad idea. IF you were a raw vegan for years, had a baby and wanted to do a fast then perhaps it might be okay... but coming from an unhealthy diet is not a good idea. All the toxins you will release (and you will release them even if you don't 'feel' you are detoxing... trust me... you are!) will go into your milk and into your baby. The last thing you baby needs is your toxins.

So here's my suggestion. Add raw into your diet. This is detoxing but much less than fasting. It will assist you to release weight slowly and when you are breastfeeding, slow weight release is much better. Why? Because you store toxins in the fat cells of your body. As you release weight you release those toxins. So we don't want to (again) fill your milk with toxins.

So please... don't fast. Eat raw foods, love what you are eating, exercise daily and watch your body transform in a healthy way for both you and your baby. :hug
