I just got back from picking up my used Blendtec Total Blender. Yay! I am stoked. I have been looking on Craigslist for a while, for either a Vitamix or a Blendtec. I was lucky enough to be the first caller for this Blendtec. The seller told me she had about 8 other people lined up to buy it and I am not surprised. The counter reads 143 blends. It is in great shape and cost me $100. Now to go make a juice smoothie :)

I did not know that they had a counter. What is the purpose of that. Who is checking up on us now.

I just found out that the jar on my blendtec is NOT BPA free. I just emailed blendtec asking if they have an exchange program or a something of the sort for older non bpa free jars. I hope I can get some help from them on this.
That's a fantastic price! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ours! I heart my BlendTec. *Ü*

Hi Deb,
I am loving it so far :) I contacted blendtec and they will give me a bpa free replacement jar (I pay $17 shipping) for free, but it has no warranty and will have a small imperfection, like a scratch. I can live with that! I asked if they could upgrade me to the Bigger jar with the 4" blade, but no go :( I would love to have that jar, but it would cost me $116 with shipping and I am going to pass for now.
Wow! That's really something that they're giving you a BPA replacement jar. I wouldn't have thought to ask - so thanks for sharing that! Who cares if it's got a scratch, right?
I've had great customer service with BT.
I'll never forget - the first thing I made with my BT was a green smoothie. I coulda cried, it poured out like silk. I'd been using my KA blender and my food processor and while it was drinkable...it wasn't anything like what came out of the BT. Sigh...memories!
I've got the bigger jar and highly recommend it. When you can, it's definitely worth the investment. *Ü*

Hi Deb,
I saw a video showing a side by side comparison of the blendtec 2-qt jar, the large jar w/4" blade and the vitamix and the 4" blade jar blendtec finished the smoothie first by a large margin. I have heard that the 4" blade jar makes fast work of everything. Since you have used both, can you tell me your thoughts and impressions on one vs. the other please?

I use the larger container almost exclusively now. Yes, it's faster. I like it because of its size - I can make both my husband and I a smoothie at the same time, which I couldn't do before.
I've only used the smaller jar once and I don't recall what for - but I think it was used for a small amount of grinding I had to do where the larger jar was too big.
I love the bigger jar! I wouldn't want to be without it. *Ü*
