Has anyone ever purchase a new hot water bottle and find that the smell is terrible? I did and it really is bad. I checked at the store and they all smell. Does anyone have any ideas how to calm the odour.
Thanks again and take care, Paul.

Can you check to see what it is made of. Perhaps it is rubber and non toxic.

Yes they are made with petroleum based stuff and who knows what else. Stink yes and toxins too.
Not so comfy but a glass jar works. Also there are cotton tube type packs filled with lavender n such and they can be heated and applied.
May be a special order enviromental safe place to order from?

I looked too. That is why I recco the other things. A glass jar although not comfy or conforming is nice n warm. A cloth wrap with herbs inside can be warmed n cozied to places.
Get creative. Hot water bottles stink
Oh I would recco something else. Soak in vinegar and baking soda or any other natural products known to dispel odors and stuff. Also in time, the smell goes away but I reckon toxic is toxic..that lasts forever.

.
My mother must have been very creative. She had a lot of beds to warm at night and I recall that one of the appliances was a metal cylinder with German writing around the rim. We were told that it was the outside of a German bomb that had been found on the mountain during the war. She would fill it with hot water and it was our favourite.
