I finally got started on alissa's book - yay! so, i need to buy a food processor. she says, i think, that some $40 one is great, but i heard that cuisinart, the typical brand costs more like $100

any opinions on food processors?

I don't know about other brands, but I love my cuisinart. I have two! One small and one about 7 cups or so. I use the bigger one most often. I have had both for about 15 years now.

Blessings.

I have several, a small oster that I bought about 15 years ago, I used this for about 3 years, it was a baby one, so I'd make everything in small batches, then mix together with my hands, lots of fun, and easy to clean, but not very useful for a crowd.

Then I got my cuisinart cost $200, I love it, couldn't live without it.

But I did try several others first, there was a Black and Decker, about $40 that I bought at K-mart, worked okay, but it had pale green buttons that I thought were ugly, so I took it back, I also bought another less expensive one that had pale blue buttons, it worked okay, but again, it wasn't pretty, so I took it back.

I am so into what things look like, that I ended up with the Cuisinart, it has no buttons, just flat areas that you push, it cleans up in an instant, and is soooo nice to use. also, it is all white, and clear, I like that look.

I think pretty much all food processors work the same, but the motor is all important, I've heard of several people on this board burning up the motor in their food processor, so I wanted a really strong one.

The cuisniart seemed to be the best, so that's the one I bought.

I just ordered a 14 cup Cuisinart at Kohls.com for $169.99!!! (on sale for $199, but I had a coupon code... MVC15, to get another 15% off - I don't know if it'll work for anyone else if you're not paying with a Kohl's charge).

I was always running out of room in my little (used to think it was big, don't really know how big it was) food processor. With my family of 7, I figured I'd better go for the biggest and best!

I have a kitchenaid food processor that I got as a gift. I already had the big kitchenaid mixer in a pretty blue color and the wusband (was my husband) decided that I needed the pretty blue kitchenaid food processor to match instead of the neutral cuisinart. (But that's not why we are divorced, lol)

I have used both and I must say that the cuisinart seems to be better (my mom has had her's for over 12 years). The kitchenaid works pretty good but there are issues with leaking if you put too much in it etc.

But on the pro side for kitchenaid, it comes in lotsa pretty colors!!
