I would love to start juicing some wheatgrass every morning, but I am usually in a rush. Could I have some opinions as to what juicer is the easiest to clean? The less pieces the better. I have looked at the cast iron ones which do not have too many pieces, but won't those require of every piece to be cleaned and dried? thank you for the help.

I use my vitamix...I spin my greens n then strain them thru a nut mylk bag. It is so easy and so yummy. Cleanup is a breeze! Works well for meeeeee.

The Omega Vert is the one I found easiest of several models I've tried.

i like my greenstar but it would require lots of pieces to clean... it's quick to clean though. ;)

i find that when i do it with my vitamix... it heats up too much.

If you're going to do any of the Omega 8000 series stick with the 8004 or 8006 as they're better and also have a longer warranty. You can read reviews about these juicers on amazon & elsewhere.

I have the 8006...which I got from Dimond(thanks!!!!) haven't done wheatgrass, but I know it's capable. I find the juicer super easy to clean once you get used to taking it apart and putting it back together - really it's a breeze and I was intimidated at first - you just have to learn your system. I thought about the VRT - because it does seem so easy to clean, but I found that was my only reason to want it.

Love my 8006!

I Have an Omega 8006 and a Breville Juice Fountain Elite -- both are extremely easy to clean!

I have a greenstar, a champion, a hurom slow juicer, and recently sold my breville juice fountain.

Of all of those, the champion is by far and away the easiest to clean. The juice is well strained, but tends to be foamy and the pulp can get hot, but the juice didn't seem to be warm. Does hard veggies better than greens, and does juicy fruits pretty well. You do have push some stuff through.

The greenstar gives great veggie juice, but can be a pain for juicy fruits. It has a lot of pieces to clean ... cleans easy but takes some time. You do have to push stuff through, so it isn't as fast getting the juice made. Good quality juice though.

I really didn't like the Breville - tho lots of folks love that juicer. Was fairly easy to clean -- only a few parts. Juices stuff pretty fast, but the pulp is pretty moist.

I love the Hurom slow juicer because it does everything pretty well -- veggies and juicy fruits -- banana ice cream, and can do nutmilk. ... and cleans up very easy. Not quite as easy as the champion, but much more so than the green star. Nice juicer - just kinda drop the stuff in, and the juice pours out. Very little if any pushing anything through.

just my 2 cents worth

Thanks Terry. I was looking at the Hurom the other day and wondered if it really is any good.

So juice quality and taste and amount of juice from produce... which machines wins for you? I have a greenstar and champion and my greenstar gives me more juice for the produce and the quality is definitely superior. Would you say the Hurom is above the greenstar? between the greenstar and the champion? or below the champion?

I've always been curious about the Champion...

I have a Jack LaLanne and I really like it! My Mom gave it to me as a gift when I went RAW in 2007. I find the Cleanup easy because the parts are big and I usually put a plastic bag in the pulp container to catch it and it makes cleanup a snap!!! :)

renee, my advice to anyone wanting a champion. get the commercial unit. three of my friends got the commercial unit, i have the normal one. their's is FAR superior to mine. the pulp is way drier...

;) and it's often the same price or a few dollars more than the household unit.

I have a Hurom and for the price it is awesome! It juices greens pretty well where my Breville does not. It cleans up really easy. I do still strain the juice in a nutmilk bag to get all the fiber out.

I don't have a green star or a champion....hopefully one but, too pricey for me right now. :)

I have read a lot on juicers past few years and I have gathered that the OMEGA and SAMPSON are good juicers. They are the slow turning auger type that is said to make way healthier juice, and its said they are very easy to clean.I really like my breville compact juicer because its fast.

Aleesha ... I've never done an amount comparison of the juicers. The hurom pulp is pretty dry, but I think the green star pulp would win as being driest. Not sure, since I'm going from memory -- I moved my greenstar and champion to the basement shelves and am only using the hurom right now. One thing about the hurom, it tends to clog up with certain foods (pineapple, grapes, celery), so if you are using those, do them last. And the juice does have a LOT of pulp, even with the fine screen. So, I juice mine into a 4 cup measure with a nut bag inside, and squeeze it out.

The greenstar probably produces superior juice, but I have to weigh the time and effort it takes. The Hurom definitely wins there, especially since I do a lot of citrus and fruit juices in the morning -- and the greenstar just doesn't handle those that well. I can drop in my chopped up fruit, and be on my way in minutes with the Hurom.

Lately I've been on a watermelon/grape juice kick .... really good stuff!

Aleesha ... I kept thinking about the question you had ... quantity of juice ... so I dragged my greenstar up from the basement today. I juiced some watermelon ... and there was almost No pulp at all --- pretty much none, so that would seem that you do get more juice. However, when I did a few handfuls of grapes -- they went through okay, but the juicer did get clogged (but so does the hurom) - so it was hard to tell about how much pulp and how wet it was.

I didn't do an 'exact' comparison, because I didn't have as many grapes left for the second batch. But I do think you probably get more juice from the Greenstar ...
it's just that cleanup ...:)

So, again, I'm waffling .. the ease of the hurom, the quality of the greenstar .... . As to which one I'll use more often .. at this point it depends on my mood and what I'm juicing I think. ... and how much space I have available on my counter!

terry, that's kinda how it is with my greenstar and my champion. if i'm in a bit of a time constraint, i grab my champion. if i'm not... it's the greenstar.

of course what i'm juicing matters as well. watermelon takes less time in the greenstar than it does in the champion. cantaloupe takes longer in the greenstar.

tomato with lots of greens is great in the greenstar. but tomato with little greens is better in the champion.

i sure do appreciate you doing that experiment terry!

lol - I'm still at it. The greenstar was still sitting on the counter, so yesterday, I did 4 oranges in the greenstar and 4 oranges in the hurom. To be technically more correct, should have cut the oranges in half so each had some of the same oranges ... but I didn't. oh well

the results were this ... there was more juice from the hurom!! -not by much. The greenstar left a scant 1/2 inch space in my 8 oz glass, the hurom came to the tippy top of the glass. The big difference was the texture of the juice .. the greenstar juice was more 'foamy' and thick tasting, while the hurom juice was more like it was poured out of a carton. I strained both glasses of juice through a nutbag to make it more even.

And there seemed to be more ejected pulp from the hurom, which doesn't make sense, but it was very dry. But It really was the taste/texture of the juice I found startling. Liked the hurom juice better.

So, the greenstar has made it's way back down to the basement shelf. Will probably bring it back up this winter when I'm doing lots of veggie burgers and such -- but don't know. Am going to try running that stuff through the hurom to homoginize it and see what happens. I already use the hurom to do banana ice cream -- does a great job there - very fast.

If I decide to do any more experiments, I'll let ya know. :)

I've brought out the greenstar again .... decided it is the BEST when it comes to homogizing nuts for nutloafs, etc. I found the nut mixture got VERY warm when I tried running it through the champion.

Yes, the Greenstar is a little slower, and a little more cumbersome to clean, but the juice doesn't have any pulp in it, and it does a decent job on pretty much everything. Interesting, with the Hurom, the Champion and the Greenstar to choose from, I keep coming back to the Greenstar.
