View Full Version : How long do you want to live?

I have been reading that theoretically on a raw food diet and living in a non-polluted area there is absolutely no reason that our bodies should ever "die" since cells are constantly being regenerated. I feel that we are taught and generally in agreement that as we get older, we must inevitably become decrepit and sick and slow and wrinkled until the point of exhaustion, death.
I also know someone who believes in theoretical immortality of the human being. I have a somewhat open mind and I really do think that anything is possible if you break your belief structure and change your perception of what you have been taught to understand as reality. Reflecting about this further, it does make sense to me, if raw foods allow our bodies to function perfectly and heal themselves of all disease, why should we age and deteriorate if eating a totally pure diet? I think part of this has to do with environmental pollution, but anyways....
I am wondering how long you all are shooting for! For the more senior folks in this community, how young do you feel on a raw foods diet? Think you could keep going another couple hundred years?

Actually they have determined that about 120 is probably the max. The cells are duplicating and like a copy of a copy of a copy etc, the copies degrade over time and hence they have theorized 120 as the maximum.
I know a lady who is 105 and all her friends have died and most of her kids have died and she is very lonely and sad even though she has good health physically and mentally.
I would want to live as long as I was happy and healthy. I'm aiming for at least 100 :)

I don't even think about it. I know for sure that our bodies all come to an end. Some die peacefully so I'm aiming for that. No age in particular. I want to die of no sickness just natural and long enough to enjoy life. Even animals that eat healthy all their lives, eventually come to an end.

I agree that the quality is what matters and not the quantity.
I can not agree with the original post as all animals eventually die even if they are in their ideal conditions so why should we be different. Death is part of life.

I want to live as long as it takes to do whatever it is I came here for. Since I haven't figured out what that is yet, it may take awhile. ;)

I know a lady who is 105 and all her friends have died and most of her kids have died and she is very lonely and sad even though she has good health physically and mentally. She has complete control over this. With all the billions of people in this world, she should easily be able to establish new relationships and find other things to keep her enjoying life. I bet there's many younger people that would love to befriend her.
If everyone didn't focus so much on death, we'd all be better off (other than the normal living will/trust & life insurance if needed). Just live the best possible life you can, preferably in the best health, and that's it. Obviously that includes many things. Be happy and help/be an inspiration to others. :)

Lots of people in my family lived to be over a hundred with no diseases, they never touched american food. I dont think people should die at 80 or 90. As long as you stay away from american food you can have a long healthy life

Processed food and junk food are not strictly an American phenomenon:)

At one time, all people ate was raw and they didn't have pollution. Where are they now?

Sleeping with the dinosaurs!
Ever since I was a child, I assumed I would live to 120. That sounds like a good number to me. I may get a facelift at 98.
I've read some studies recently that predict children being born now could reasonably expect to live to age 200!

I just say "love and live for today". I never worry or think about the length of my life. It is what it is and will be what it will be.

I agree not to focus on the "when will I die" stuff. Its not important. Health and happiness is important. You could be born on raw and eat raw your whole life and be hit by a car the next day. I'm not saying this to shock people but just to focus on the now and enjoy what God has given us in this lifetime. :D Wonderful fruits, veggies, trees, nature, love, etc.

I want to live a very long time!
As long as I have a good quality of life, that's the most imoprtant thing.
I'm shooting at 100!
And I hope my death won't be slow. I want it painless. Not due to a disorder that needs a lot of money and medication. I want to die while sleeping, LOL, at the age of 100 or so.
I want to concentrate now on having healthy lifestyle and helping other people. Happiness is a fruit of things you love doing.

my hypothosis :
our souls / conciouses are eternal , but at this point in our evolution weve not figured out much about how the universe functions so our bodies dont last very long . but as time goes forward we learn more and more about
the ' physical laws of the universe ' until eventually we master them and thusly attain complete eternal control of the states of our bodies and our territory on the universe . body span after body span we learn more and develop either stronger or weaker ' roots ' on our souls which shall determine how long it takes to master the physical laws of the universe . for some it might take only two more body spans and a thousand years , for others more improperly behaving / living it might take 1000 future body spans and a million centuries . just like if a wrongly living lazy person doesnt exercise or eat right theyre out of shape / weak / sickly compared to someone that eats right / exercises . same with our souls , wrongly behave and your weaker than somebody more properly behaving your next body span . and obviously eating right / morals / exercise shall play a big part in our souls evolution , but its also my opinion the bodys driven by the heart pumping which in turn is driven by the energy stored in your soul , soul most likely housed in brain . and our soul charges dont last forever just like a flashlights batterys / charge doesntlast forever . and as the soul charge runs low it causes our bodies to age , thusly figure out how to re-charge your souls energy is a huge part of attaining an eternal body state . and most likely imo as souls without bodies we gravitate to stars to re-charge . our souls absorb and hold star light which becomes the electric charge that pushes our hearts to beat .
well thats my own arrived at outlook . in below link is my vegan flag / philosophy with a bit more on it

my guess is with raw foodism becoming more popular and knowledge spreading via the internet you'll start to see lifespans increasing...a lot of people assume that the current human race is the most intelligent which really couldn't be further from the truth. If anything we are more disconnected from the planet and out of touch with spirituality than we've ever been.

I will live for as long as I can, hopefully forever.
Not only is being healthy going to help but with the rate at which technology is advancing we'll be able to replace any part of our body and use nanobots in our bloodstream to further help clean up our bodies from toxins
Technology will take us to immortality
The merger of the health sector and information technology will eventually lead to immortality.

I would rather have a shorter life and be happy and accomplish what I want than have a long-stretched out life and not do anything.
People who say they want to live forever or think they can ward off death scare me. We're all going to die. Then who knows where we go? Where we were before we were born probably. We can't be so greedy as to claim the planet for ourselves for all eternity, we're just borrowing it and need to give it back to future generations.
