I have green all my cleaning products to basically baking soda and vinegar.

The thing is that I used baking soda and Dr. Bronner's liquid soap as a detergent for my laundry. I found that some of the eco friendly detergents is making my new clothes look like I have had them for twenty years after one wash. I like to keep my clothes in good shape and yet be green for the environment at the same time. I don't mind what I'm doing lately for detergent so far, but I would like to know about other "Green" natural detergent as well. I'm also tempted to go back to using the detergent that I've always used my whole life which I don't want to do!

Does anyone know any good eco friendly alternatives for detergent that will keep the clothes in good shape?

I just use vinegar. Works great. My hubby who in general hates to clean anything with a natural, chemical free, cleaner even thinks it works great.

I use Kirkland brand liquid eco-friendly detergent from Costco. It doesn't do real well on stains, but for general laundering it does fine. *Ü*

Thanks everyone!! :)

I've tried vinegar and it seems to bring out the black dye and stain my white shelves or when sitting on top of folded white clothes with tint of black....

I haven't tried nut soap. You? If so, what do you think of it? How does it work? I've noticed that there are bags to go with it....

Charlie's soap looks pretty good, looked at their reviews and it looks very promising. Does it keep clothes fresh, in good shape, and keep the whites looking whites instead of dingy white?

Thanks for letting me know about Kirkland's brand. I'll look into it and see what I think. Know any good "green" solutions for stains? :D

Thanks again!!!!

I have been using it for well over a year. It's been so long, I really can't remember exactly when I first started using it. Everything has been great so far. Our clothes are soft, look fine, and it cleans thoroughly. We don't have many whites, but so far so good with the few we do have.

We used the soap nuts for awhile. I haven't seen them on the island yet, but I liked them a lot.

Easy thing though was that I just never really smelled or got smelly clothes. Gotta love raw food for the cleanliness you develop inside and out.

But for stains, I just used warmer water and maybe one of those oily stain sticks.
