Hi! I started getting interested in raw food only 3-4 weeks ago, but ever since I got into it it has just blasted into my life! I really don't even know how it started, probably some sort of youtube/internet surfing journey that leads you somewhere totally unexpected. I am 23 years old, starting graduate school in the fall and took this past year to just completely wipe out my life, clear out the junk psychologically and spiritually, and I feel confident that the raw food diet is an important piece to this beautiful journey of mine, coming into my life at the most perfect time and I am really excited about it!

I ate totally raw for about a week, then started adding a couple of cooked things per day due to recent female issues but I am definitely continuing and being kind to myself during this transition and not trying to be totally perfect all at once. I generally do better at things when I take them on slowly and make it a way of life rather than some militant regime.

I'm in it mainly for the clarity of mind that I've heard so much about it. I'm in it to be more conscious, to feel more alive and connected. I have had so many issues in the past with seasonal depression, feeling disconnected from life, feeling dead and just not present, fatigued, etc.. I want to be HERE in life 100% and am embarking on this journey as part of a multifaceted mission for reaching my absolute highest potential and living fully and most importantly being FREE!!!! I want to be my most beautiful and clear self. Tired of living any other way as a slave to whatever. Time for freedom and I am so excited to know that each day I am becoming more and more free and beautiful and sparkling....

Excited to meet everybody here and share the wealth of health..

Welcome Annabella

I am super jealous of you...my skin was the worst during my first two years at grad school, because I became addicted to coffee and energy drinks and late night "snacks" :p I've spent the summer detoxing and figuring out this raw business, because I have one more year of grad school and this is the year my thesis is due (yikes!). But I am determined to stay healthy and raw, and treat myself when I need it with some fun raw treats. So anyway, you are so lucky that you will have a healthy eating plan during your whole grad school adventure. You'll most likely find that eating lots of fruits and veggies helps you to deal with stress and fight those pesky colds too.

Oh, and don't forget if you need some energy while studying, coconut juice is wonderful. It has natural electrolytes!

P.S. also, no worries mate! My advice is not to stress over the raw food diet, but just to feed your body good, healthy food. Eat those greens, treat yourself to some cherries, enjoy the smell of a freshly cut strawberry. If you listen to your body and go with the flow, you will be on your way to success...

It sounds like there are several of us here that are grad students - maybe we should start our own thread. :P

Hi Annabella,

Wow, I wish I had been raw in grad school - what a difference that would have made. I was a tired and stressed vegetarian who quickly added peanut M&Ms into her study routine . . .

How blessed you are to have made the discovery!

Welcome!
