Hi !

I just thought I'd give a link to the best spiral slicer out there. Forget the Saladacco. This is the one you want -

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002BRMP8/qid=1127856205/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-5399879-9088160?v=glance&s=home-garden&n=507846

It has three different blades. Great for zucchini, cukes, carrots, squash, eggplant, etc! I just got mine and have been making great recipes. I didn't think I would enjoy it this much. I wanted to approach the raw diet in a simple manner. I do have a blender, but I didn't want to buy all the other equiptment to try my best to go fresh and use minimal ingredients per meal. Well, this is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. Sometimes I make complex sauces. Sometimes I just slice up cucumbers and carrots and throw in apple cider vinegar. YUM. Something about slicing up the veggies into noodles makes them so paletable.

Thanks, PC, :)

That is very similar to -- though it looks sturdier than -- the Spirooli, which costs much less.

I mentioned (in another thread) that I've seen this type in Asian markets for much, much less and they are sturdier -- stainless steel.

Thanks for posting it; it's always good to have various options :)

Anyone know???

truthseeker,

The above gadget and the Spirooli are best for really great "noodles."
If you want Angel-Hair style "pasta," you don't need a Saladacco: Do you have a zester? This is the way I always did it before there ever was a Saladacco, and I prefer it even now (I don't care for the Saladacco). The strands are much nicer looking and I prefer the texture.

Here is a pic of "Angel Hair" Zucchini, using the zester. All you need is a steady hand to keep the pressure steady and even as you zest from the top to the bottom of the zucchini to get nice long strands (use the eyes of the zester :).

Works with most vegetables you can use on a Saladacco -- carrots, turnips, etc.

I just bought a spirooli a couple of weeks ago, and LOVE it! It only cost $12.99....about $20 after shipping. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago that had the link to it...look for the thread "angle hair" something (zuchini, or marinara I think) I think the company I bought it from was ekitchen gadgets...maybe you could do a search. Good luck.
