Some of my dental health practices are a little inconvenient and I would hate to think that they are unnecessary so I am asking people if they have read anything to either debunk them or back them up.

1. Do not brush your teeth within 30 minutes of eating fruit because fruit acid weakens the enamel and you can damage it. It goes back to its natural state after 30 minutes and you can brush then.

2. If you add a little baking soda to a glass of water to rinse after eating it will help to counter the acidifying effects of the fruit.

3. If you use a toothpaste that contains glycerine, your teeth will be prevented from re-mineralising.

Please add any others that you may have but the 30 minute one is a nuisance.

I don't really believe the 30 min rule. I think rinsing with plain water 1st and then brushing is fine. You can use toothpaste that contains glycerine, it's just suppose to be around 2-3% max. Tooth Soap does contain glycerine at this percentage. Same with Dr. Bronners.

According to some "What needs to be avoided are products that contain over 55% added glycerine, that will coat teeth & prevent re-enamelization." That should be fairly easy to find when using toxic-free toothpaste.

Much better thank you. I am feeling so good that I am about to go and join a flash mob that is happening in half an hour. It is raining. It will probably be a disaster.

I've never heard the 30 minute rule before. I purposely brush my teeth right after fruit every time I eat it. I just brush with water and rinse well. It's working well for me. No cavities since I started doing this.

But - when I first went raw and did not brush my teeth right after eating fruit, I had a little cavity at my 6 month checkup. It was my first cavity in about 9 years, so I knew it was from the fruit. So, I started the above and no problems with cavities since. *Ü*
