Breville JE900-Leaking and wasting juice?

I was given a Brevilee JE900 juicer (by someone who would have took VERY good care of it). However it leaks like crazy where the fibre goes into the container (even though I make sure the container is tight underneath). It will spit out of the corner, and sometimes around the edge. It also leaks downt he side of the juicer, leaving a large mess.

It wasts a lot of juice as well. Usually the fibre is extremly liquidy. I tried juicing carrots yesterday, and it mostly just split the carrots in half then spit them into the fibre collector.

I was not given directions for this juicer, so I figured I must be doing something wrong when I put the juicer together? Does anyone have any tips for me?

Contact the manufacturer. No matter how well someone has taken care of something, things get old and wore out or dried out. Might be as simple as replacing a rubber ring. Why did your friend get rid of it?

I have this juicer too and, unfortunately, it does the exact same thing. For the first few months it was PERFECT - no leaks and REALLY dry pulp. I loved it and used it probably 2 - 3 times a week. Like your friend I was meticulous about cleaning it right away and taking excellent care of it. Nevertheless, it started leaking juice from around the pulp container as well as where the lid meets the basket and where the basket meets the body of the machine. The pulp also started becoming more and more saturated to the point where I could literally wring almost a full cup of juice from the pulp.

I really don't juice much anymore but when I do I just put towels over and around it to keep it from spraying my walls and to catch the significant leakage. I also strain the pulp or, if it's pineapple, eat it like pudding. :)

This model is at Costco for $89.99, was thinking of getting it but after reading about these problems maybe should stick with the vitamix and straining.

That's too bad contessa :( I gave my other juicer away, and now I have no way to make juice (I can't afford another one). It was given to me because she had bought herself a hand crank juicer, and this one had been sitting around for a month.

Same here, and like you, I use the towels too.

I used to strain cooked spinach in a kitchen towel and remove most of the liquid that way so I would put the pulp in a kitchen towel you don't mind getting stained and squeeze your heart out. I do it osme times still and wash the towel and keep it near the jucier so I don't keep getting towels dirty.
