HI all, i started off 100% raw, but now am doing high raw (as much as i can) as i have been cheating a bit on the weekends. Due to these cheats, i have begun to juice fast. I did two 1 day juice fast this week (monday and weds).

I am getting fresh juices at the store (i dont own a juicer presently....yet...long story, limited kitchen access right now), and the rest doing organic bottled juices and the refrigerated juices (says gently pasteurized - which i realize is not good, but i can not get myself to do a water fast just yet). I squeeze fresh citrus juice in my bottled juices to add some fresh enzymes / nutrients. I really LOVE tomato juice, the salty kind which i think is the key to succeeding on these fasts, (i drink 2 bottles a day).

I have always lost a few lbs each time, feel great, not really ever hungry, and really clean my system out. My acne is really clearing up. (note i have also begun oil pulling this week as well)

Anyhow - finally for the question - i want to perform another fast today (as last night i ate some pizza...ick) and was wondering - is it bad to do a few juice fast every other day, or even several times a week? long term ?

I recall reading "longevity diet" the author (lisa i believe) does 1 fast per week... and i have been reading that fasting has such great effects on the body and can potentially help increase lifespan...

A nice bonus is that even when i do cheat, like last night, i could not eat nearly as much food as the rest of the group. Everyone said "wow i think i need to do that" as they ate entire medium pizzas themselves!! I couldnt get beyond half of a personal size, lol.

Thanks for the support! :D

PS - Does anyone have any tips on how I can juice which fruits/ veggies just by squeezing at home or in my hand ? (besides citrus)?

PPS - Is it ok to use Coconut oil / honey during fasting? Or will those break my fast?

Do you have a blender or a food processor?

Sometimes, I blend the fruit/vegetables up in one of those and strain the juice out and save the pulp to add to salad later on. I did just get a new juicer yesterday (Thanks, UPS) so I am back to regular juicing.

you can use raw honey or coconut oil during your fast and you won't break your fast.

if you have a blender, you can blend the fruits/veggies and then strain them using a nut mylk bag or a paint strainer bag from the hardware store. either works.

you can also do a fast on citrus juice alone... and just suck out the juice from the slices of orange/grapefruit/lemon/lime/pomello (spell)

but i must say... drinking only pasteurized (cause there is no gently when it comes to pasteurization) juices will - in my opinion - harm more than help your body.

water would definitely be a better choice. or a fast on coconut water. you can buy a case of young coconuts and drink those. all you need is a knife to open them!
