Wow, I'm really excited to have found this place!
Let me introduce myself - I am Islandgrrl. I'm a middle aged woman, mom and wife, living in the pacific northwest on...you guessed it....an island. I love where I am in life, in every respect.
My journey began many, many years ago when, at age 15, I became a vegetarian. I made the transition to vegan about 18 years ago, and started experimenting with raw foods (beyond the obvious raw fruits and salad) about 15 years ago. About 7 years ago, I completely "fell off the wagon" and started eating fish and fowl. I've struggled for a year or so to get back to my comfortable vegan life, and I'm mostly there. I find myself gravitating more and more toward raw foods and have made a conscious effort to choose raw whenever possible, which seems to be most of the time. I try to not approach food and eating with an "I can't have that" attitude, but rather an "I choose not to have that" attitude. I think it's healthier to make a considered choice to not eat something than it is to deprive yourself of something. Does that make sense?
So I'm looking forward to continuing my journey here and learning how to prepare delicious raw treats for myself and my family!
