View Full Version : sprouting question

I'm new to raw food and loving it! I'm intrigued by the essene breads and raw hummus. Question, can I use the dried chick peas in the grocers to sprout or should I purchase from another source?

Sprouting is pretty simple. The easiest thing to do to see if they'll sprout is just buy a handfull or so and take em home and see if they'll sprout. If they don't sprout then they are dead and not raw.;)

I have sprouted chick peas at some time in the past and it must have been those because I can not think where I would have got anything different.
I have to admit that I was not totally enamoured by the results and afterwards always made the zucchini humus instead.
I watched a YouTube video of a girl that sprouted chick peas that she bought at the Dollar Store, so it's worth a shot.
I agree with sport - I like zucchini hummus a lot better than (raw)chick pea hummus too.. *Ü*

Blah....to the raw chick pea hummus. I couldn't stand it and I also made the zucchini hummus. Much better than raw chick pea hummus.
I'm surprised no one mentioned zucchini hummus...;)
