Hi, I'm a middle-aged woman and happily married mom.
I've considering going to raw foods but have a few obstacles I'd like help or suggestions with.

1. Hot coffee - I love coffee w/milk in it. It is my comfort drink. Help me with your suggestions as to how to stop this addiction. I love it love it love it - no sugar.

2. Sometimes I need something bready or filling to help the way my stomach feels - like a baked potato or a piece of wheat bread.

3. Before a hike, I like protein plus carbs; i.e., a whole wheat english muffin, one egg and then two slices of turkey bacon. Fills the stomach and gives food for the hike. What do you suggest as a successful replacement?

4. I need energy. I have discovered that an orange gives me more energy than breakfast cereal, so I'm on board with the understanding that my body likes fruit for energy. But what about all day energy? If I consume oranges every time I feel tired I'll balloon like an orange :) My thyroid tends to run heading toward low numbers, do you think young coconut would be the answer? It's going to be a real fight to quit coffee and go raw at the same time. I'd like your encouragement.

5. I'm going to a summer camp for a week where I'll be interacting with many people. I'm a lifeguard there, I need a lot of energy to swim in extremely cold waters and have the emotional energy to deal with people. I like to jog in the mornings there as well. I need your suggestions as to what a day of food would look like if I'm going raw.

- morning before the 5-10 mile jog food:
- breakfast
- snack
- lunch (also time for energy load for upcoming lifeguarding during afternoon)
- the rest of the day...

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Tru -- I'll post this in another place too.

Welcome to the forum, Tru.

You might find that a slower transition to raw will work for you. Start by cutting back on your coffee to one cup a day and then wean yourself off of that. Have a green smoothie in the morning and healthy vegetarian meals. Once that feels comfortable, eat raw until supper, then the move to all raw is an easy last step.

I wish you the best of health on your raw journey.

morning

soaked buckwheat with homemade almond milk poured over it and nuts and fruit added

also almond milk / banana / carob powder or cacoa / dry date smoothie

fruit nuts all day

dinner

mixed dark green salad with homemade oil - vinegar - garlic - herb dressing ,
with tons of vegis in it . mushrooms / brocoli / etc . plus either chopped walnuts or sesame seeds sprinkled on heavily . and a bunch of avacado

avacado and banana ae heavy energy filling foods for me , same with walnuts and almonds

use almond milk in coffee / cut down to half cups to just get the taste kick /
then quarter cups / then one night a week like saturday have a coffee party and let self drink a few cups but not on any other day / then eventually quit saturdays too

get into fasting bit by bit to shrink gut . start going like 12 hours without , then 24 , then 36 etc . fasting is like working out , at begining your weak but build up and it becomes easier as gets habitual . and its such a valuable health tool because gives one greater control over their appetite

Wow, I love your suggestions!!

Thank you so much!

Questions:

Almond milk -- is that the almond milk in the box by the soy milk -- is it raw?

Also -- My husband told me that he doesn't want me to lose all my energy, what will help me with this so that it isn't too much fruit all day?

Also, what do I do about the "not full" feeling?

Thanks so much again for your help!

Thank you so much for your help --

Question: Green Smoothie -- So I hear about these, hear about going raw, then read
about folks using powder... I'm like - that's not natural...

What is an easy, healthy, natural way to accomplish "green smoothie" and why?
(Even if it's powdered - please help me to understand).

Thanks again :)

green smoothies are water / fruit / fresh dark greens like spinach / kale / etc

no almond milk in store isnt raw , soak like 25 almonds several hours / rinse / blend in 3/4 full blender of water / strain out pulp / = almond milk

i didnt mean homemade oil but rather homemade dressing using a store bought cold pressed oil such as extra virgin olive oil

not full feeling , one is appetite supressing things like green tea or lemon squeezed into drinking water . filling heavy foods are banana / avacado / salad type i mentioned / buckwheat cereal i mentioned . i was throwing out there my heavy foods . then if dehydrate people make heavy breads biut im not into dehydrating so do know recipes

for energy also but dont use too much as its addictive and becomes a negative if over used is cocoa in things like sweet fruit smoothies , like the banana smoothie i mentioned but use cocoa instead of carob

its an adjustment but once people find their foods youll see the majority talk about more energy . for my energy its sweet fruit and nuts all morning / day is what does best . im a banana junkie , aten with either walnuts or almonds

can sprinkle other seeds in salads like sun or pumpkin etc
