it's me again... :o

my friend suffers of aphthous ulcers, and it is getting worse in summer. of course i would like to recommend him something raw, but i'm not at all familiar with aphthous ulcer. he ist not complete raw, but does not (or very rarely) eat grain and grain products.

i know that by "conventional medicine", these are considered uncurable and their appearence incalculable, but still i hope for some miracle cure coming from the raw kitchen ;)

would be very thankful for some advice :)

I believe that raw foods do not cure anything
Your body cures itself. All you have to do is stop putting obstacles in it's way. If you cause your body to be constantly distracted by having to digest difficult foods then it has no time for healing.
Get out of the way and eat what I call "end product foods". Your body needs simple sugars to feed every cell and if you give it complex carbs then it has to break them down before it can use them. This takes energy and concentration that could be put to better use mending and repairing.
Tell your friend to eat simple carbs to feed his cells and greens for the minerals needed and leave the complex carbs to those who want to get sick.

You're right, i should remember this :)

Still i thought, maybe there is something known in the raw kitchen to help healing these annoying little things... Or something special that should be avoided according to experience, a specific cooked meal maybe. Do you think aphtheous ulcers are a way of detox for the body?

I really would appreciate if he would go 100% raw, and he says it is also his aim for the next months :)

Ulcers and all disease is caused by a combination of mental/emotional as well as physical. Raw food may assist in the healing of ulcers yet, until one gets to the cause of them.. Did food cause them? (possibly) Or, is it a combination of poor food choices or fear or speaking out? If located in the mouth area, could be holding back from saying what he wants to say or laying blame on someone.

The main thing physically is a build up of the whole immune system and being sure the digestive system is working well. Elimination of the causes ~ emotional and physical will work wonders.

He could write down what it is he's holding back or blaming someone for...

once a person reaches adult age on a cooked diet and develops ailing cells it usually becomes a long process of fasting and raw fooding to flush out pollution and rebuild cells

HE'S GOT TO GRASP THAT THEN GUT THE PROCESS OUT ,
AND CHANGE HIS DIETARY HABITS FOREVER

just like quitting any other long term harmful habit its a war ,
but if ones wise enough to see the needed steps then strong
enough to take them they win

ive seen people say slippery elm bark is g.i. tract healing ,
ide suggest mountain rose herbs as a good herbal source

and the late raw foodist norman walker loved spinach for the tract ,
and said raw cabbage juice heals ulcers

I call them "mouth ulcers" but I think that most call them "canker sores"

To heal one, try placing a slice of garlic over it for a while. I have a hunch it will heal it based on something I read at gourmetgarlicgardens dot com, and that this treatment quickly healed an abscess on my own gum once. Just last night, my wife sped up the healing of a bit lip by doing this.

Just a guess here, but are they more prevalant in persons with an acidic system? Maybe alkalizing is the key to preventing them? I don't get them myself, so I don't know anything about their cause.

agree with acidity a problem , and add salt

modern people are WAY WAY WAY overloaded with salt
and there isnt any way its a good thing

as an infant i HATED the taste of salt

but my mom kept saying when i told her something she cooked
me didnt taste good , eggs / mashed potatos etc , to put
salt on it so eventually i became a salt addict

its called lost leadership from our punk ruling class that doesnt
even know what food is and has us headed for extinction because
of it

ps - kids teeth are rotting out by age 5 because of pop / sugar / candy / etc ,
what the hell is that !!!!!!!!!! you know how important strong teeth are !!!!!
but here its no big deal just keep letting kids teeth rot , and keep developing
small / brittle under fed teeth with the lame american diet !!!!!!!! more livid by the day

I've read that cayenne pepper is good for ulcers. But I don't know about mouth ulcers. Maybe a search will lead to some information.

I also kind of wonder if oil pulling would get rid of those ulcers.

Ultimately of course cleansing and eating properly is the best way.
