All,
Thanks in advance for your comments. I'm new here and was hoping for some advice and inspiration for my brother in law and sister, whom have both started going raw.
I think it is important to point out that although they are overweight, their primary reasons for going raw are not to simply lose some lbs. Their approach is not vanity, or quick fix. They are approaching this as a lifestyle change and being more aware of putting unprocessed foods in their body, for which I am proud of them for.
With that said, both of them are 4 days into it. They've been drinking green juices, eating fruit in the morning and taking in a lot of dark green and vegetables. They discovered cacao and agave and have made some treats as well. Nothing too fancy yet.
It's important to note my sister also has a thyroid condition (hypothyroid) and takes levoxyl and cytomel. She has suffered from low energy for the last few months due to this.
When moving to RAW myself, I experienced mild detox, a few days of discomfort with energy and not feeling full and some bowel issues, but they subsided fairly quick.
Without getting too visual here, it's day 4 and my sister has been in and out of the bathroom all day, my bro in law has had mild stomach ache and slightly irregular BM.
I am of the understanding this is normal during detox but am not educated on exactly what is going on in the body. I assume the high in-take of fiber from the fruit is irregular for them and the body is adjusting, as well as the high intake of greens.
I am looking for some inspiration and motivation for them to keep them going and to not turn back at the first sign of a day long bathroom excursion.
Appreciate any advice or stories you can share about your detox.
