I'm so happy about this -- I just have to tell someone!
I have been trying to go 100% raw for a few months now, and the main difficulty I'm having is with social situations, including dinners with my hubby (it's the only meal together). He has been adamant that if I want to eat only raw food, he will support me as best he can, but is not into it himself.
Well, I ordered a new un-cookbook for us that seems to have sparked his interest. Yesterday he picked a raw ravioli recipe from the book and asked if we could try making it together. I of course agreed, so we went searching for the necessary tools (mandoline) and ingredients, and spent an hour playing together in the kitchen. The result was a beautiful and very delicious dinner that he truly enjoyed, and he was so happy that he had made it. Success #1 -- he discovered that raw food can be fun and delicious!
And this morning, he phoned me at work to tell me that he had been looking through my un-cookbooks and had noticed that many of the recipes said to use a Vita-Mix, which we don't have (just a regular blender), and said that he would like to order one for us so that WE can have the tools we need to make fun raw dishes. Success #2 -- he feels like he is a part of this endeavor!
I know these may seem like small victories, but for my sweet but addicted-to-vegan-junk hubby, this is huge progess. I'm so happy, I just had to share. :D
