When I first signed up for the forum, I didn't know if I was going to stick around.

Now that I had my first VERY MUCH ALMOST 100% raw day yesterday, I think I should introduce myself.

I'm Francine. :)

I am not trying to lose a lot of weight on this diet. In fact, I am young (23) and was blessed with a high metabolism. I know one day it will slow down. My mother gained a lot of weight when she was pregnant with me and has yo-yo dieted since then. My dad is skinny as a stick. BUT, I was an athlete when I was younger and I want to be in athletic shape. Needless to say, I am also working out.

My main goal for this diet is optimal health. My husband and I may start to try to conceive a baby in the next year or two and I want to prepare my body and my lifestyle for the health and benefit of my future child.

I am married. Hubby is an elite personal trainer. He trains a few of the wealthy in Los Angeles. He is also a physical therapist aide and studying to get into either a Masters in Physical Therapy or Doctorate in Physical therapy program.

He is interested in this stuff, but it is mainly MY thing. He is mainly interested in the fact that I may save money by buying less prepackaged foods and get healthier. He is willing to try my recipes, however, and is also interested in optimal health.

oh and I work with kiddos diagnosed with Autism. (Perhaps this is also part of the reason why I am so adamant about preparing my body before conception). We have no idea why the rate of diagnosis has skyrocketed from 1:20,000 15 years ago to almost 1:100 now. Although part of it is genetic, it also HAS to do with environment somehow. I'll do what I can do before pregnancy to help my child's developmental health (even in the womb).

Welcome Francine. :) Beautiful photo of you and your husband. Wonderful that he's supportive. Great that you looking to improve your health before getting pregnant and realize it's optimum health you want to achieve. Many have healed Autism in their kids with a better diet, some with raw.

Thanks for your reply and welcome!! My husband is AMAZING!!! I am excited to be part of the raw community.

oh and to be clear, I don't necessarily believe a bad diet causes or good diet heals Autism, I just want to make sure I have the cleanest environment available for baby to grow in. Since we don't know...... why not be extra safe.

I work with kids with autism also and have slipped lots of info to doctors via parents about raw food. I teach HS so it is hard to get the kids to eat what they should vs. what they want, for some of them.

Welcome. Great picture.

Welcome Francine! :)

I completely agree with this! My hubby and I have been married for two years and will probably try to conceive our first child in the next year or so. I just want to make sure that I'm doing everything I possibly can to provide a wonderfully nourishing vessel for a baby to grow in. :)

Best of luck on your raw journey!
