When I first signed up for the forum, I didn't know if I was going to stick around.
Now that I had my first VERY MUCH ALMOST 100% raw day yesterday, I think I should introduce myself.
I'm Francine. :)
I am not trying to lose a lot of weight on this diet. In fact, I am young (23) and was blessed with a high metabolism. I know one day it will slow down. My mother gained a lot of weight when she was pregnant with me and has yo-yo dieted since then. My dad is skinny as a stick. BUT, I was an athlete when I was younger and I want to be in athletic shape. Needless to say, I am also working out.
My main goal for this diet is optimal health. My husband and I may start to try to conceive a baby in the next year or two and I want to prepare my body and my lifestyle for the health and benefit of my future child.
I am married. Hubby is an elite personal trainer. He trains a few of the wealthy in Los Angeles. He is also a physical therapist aide and studying to get into either a Masters in Physical Therapy or Doctorate in Physical therapy program.
He is interested in this stuff, but it is mainly MY thing. He is mainly interested in the fact that I may save money by buying less prepackaged foods and get healthier. He is willing to try my recipes, however, and is also interested in optimal health.
oh and I work with kiddos diagnosed with Autism. (Perhaps this is also part of the reason why I am so adamant about preparing my body before conception). We have no idea why the rate of diagnosis has skyrocketed from 1:20,000 15 years ago to almost 1:100 now. Although part of it is genetic, it also HAS to do with environment somehow. I'll do what I can do before pregnancy to help my child's developmental health (even in the womb).
