The fact that it is SO difficult for me to find real people with real solutions reminds me that this is a male dominated world... No one cares about women menses.

To be honest mine have gotten worse instead of 5 days, I now have 10 days. I never have cramps but now I do. I figure my body is just detoxing and I am going to give it a couple more months BUT If it continues I am going to the doctors!!

I figure my body is just detoxing and I am going to give it a couple more months BUT If it continues I am going to the doctors!! Doctors can't help with this. It's something you need to heal yourself. The truth is we all shouldn't be bleeding or experiencing symptoms altogether. It takes 100% health in order to achieve that though. There are other threads on here that talk more about this.

My symptoms get so much better when I eat raw... And the worse I eat prior, the worse the symptoms. I remember months ago I had a meal at McDonalds just because I was out and we were all splurging, and I figured it wouldn't be the end of the world... And when I got my period that month, I paid for it...

I never had cramps and headaches, just huge mood swings. Anyhow, I don't menstruate anymore, so I don't know - that could be considered relief. :p
My cramps are definitely reduced when eating raw. The duration also shortened from 7 days to about 4.5 for me.

I have noticed tremendous relief during my cycle. I used to have days of cramps before hand and then also during. Now I might have one slight cramp the day before. Also the amount I pass is significantly less.
It may take some time before you experience relief...I've always stayed low fat raw too so that could be helping too.

It took 2 years raw before I noticed significant relief from PMS, severe cramps, bloating, etc. I used to take 600mg Ibuprofen every 4 hours for several days during my cycle just to ease the pain. It was extremely irregular, lasts 5-6 days, and very heavy.
At 2 years raw, I no longer "need" the medication so I stopped taking them. It became more regular, lighter, and lasts 3 days tops.
I'm going on 3 years raw and it has gotten to the point where I don't feel any menstrual symptoms anymore. I don't "feel" anything that signals that my cycle is starting. The only way I can tell is by looking at the calendar. It is like clockwork now.
So be patient. The body will heal itself if given enough time.
I am not on any medication - I am allergic to serology and cannot tolerate antidepressants, except at a very low dosage. Zoloft sent me completely manic. I am scared.
Hi there,
I see this is an old post, but I did a search on menstrual cycles because I'm noticing a change in mine. In the past, I used to get HORRIBLE cramps to the point where I could barely move. Within the last year, it's changed a lot. Last year I was a little bit into healthy eating (not raw - just healthIER than some people) but still not THAT good.
I started getting my periods every other month. Now, over the summer I incorporated tons of raw foods & juices and noticed I wasn't having any pains - no headaches, no cramping, no swollen breasts, etc. But I also skipped 2-3 months which wasn't normal so I talked to my doc and we did some testing. But now I think my body's creating a new kind of 'normal' because when I got my period today, I had NO idea it was coming because I'm not having any of those horrible feelings I used to have.

Try acupuncture.
Just recently I started taking a tincture of chaste berry. I took this for that "period pimple" I always get on my chin but noticed it helps with all other period symptoms as well. I got this from my acupuncturist, which is your safest bet.

I also skipped 2-3 months which wasn't normal so I talked to my doc and we did some testing. Not bleeding is actually healthy and how we're meant to be. As long as you're still ovulating every month, there's no reason to worry. You can test for that on your own if you don't get any obvious symptoms. It's doubtful your doctor can help you regarding this since they believe we must bleed monthly.

Where do you get the ovulation tests? I feel silly even asking, but everywhere I look (walmarts, walgreens, albertsons), I can't ever find any. :/

You can use a Basal Thermometer to check, which can be found at any drugstore, either with the other thermometers or in the pregnancy test section. "Basal Temperature is the normal body temperature of a healthy person immediately upon awakening in the morning. This temperature normally rises after ovulation due to hormonal changes. Thus, a temperature increase near the middle of your menstrual cycle can indicate ovulation has occurred." This is also the method for going without birth control.

My exp on raw is that it did not get better. I was 100% for 9 months or so. Finally I went to the doc and was found to have very low iron stores due to my monthly apocolyptic menses. :p The doc ran all kinds of tests and there is no medical reason for it. I am currently on BC (no advice, horror stories or input please ;) ) and it has made life possible again. Before the bc (both on and off raw) I could not leave the house for the first 48 hours and was menstrating for 7-14 days. It was THAT bad. I had to use SUPER o.bs AND an over night incontinent pad simultaneously and that had to be changed every 45-60 min. I had to sleep sitting up, and on 3 towels.
I do not plan to take the bc long term, but I felt it was necessary to give my body a break from all the blood loss so I can rebuild my iron stores. This is just my personal exp and I would never recommend someone follow my same path. Just exchanging ideas and exp's here. :D
