Okay I don't know if this is a dumb question or what....this has never happened to me.

I bought some fresh juice from the farmers market the other day it was cherry/pomegranate/apple juice (for my 2yo) anyway....its been in there a week, and a few days ago I noticed when I opened it it 'popped' a little....now a few days later its full on carbonated?! It fizzes and hisses. So weird?!

What causes this?? Is it safe to drink?

Funny my dd was already calling it "soda" because it was brownish color (even though she's never had soda, lol) now its really soda!

well juice lasts a max of 36 hours after juicing... so i'd say no to drinking it!

It sounds like it is starting to ferment. It could have come into contact with yeast in the air during dispensing or production and possibly sat for a while at warmer than optimum storage temperatures somewhere along the way (above 40 F), which makes it start converting the fruit sugars into alcohol. It's basically trying to become hard cider. I would not give it to your young one, though it may be safe for you to drink. If it is exposed to or produces acetic bacteria in the fermentation process, it could eventually turn into a vinegar.
