Good Morning!!:)
Today is my DH's birthday!!It's funny and amazing how your mindset makes such a huge difference. Since DD is moving out and crazy with the work she has to do yet, DH and I are going to have a quiet intimate dinner for two to celebrate his birthday. In the past I would agonize over the fact that we eat such in such completely different ways but not now. I am going to make him a delicious meal (cooked) that he will love and still have something raw and wonderful for myself......it's the love and presentation and the spending of beautiful time together that matters, not so much the actual food...and as long as I am at peace with that, so is he~:D
Major strides my friends!!!

Food today...melon and more melon, salad for dinner w/ strawberries & candied walnuts.the rest...well, we will see.
Hope you each have an awesome day!!

gack! i recently moved to fort bragg, nc which is so unvegan friendly you wouldn't believe - the hfs is tiny and overpriced, as a beginning - and i just found out that dhrumil and philip mccluskey are going to be in town this weekend! i'm desperately trying to convince them i'm not crazy and they should let me hang w/ them :D i've met a few famous vegans and i've met alissa and stacie, so dhrumil and philip seem an excellent 2nd step!

okay, my excited self is off to clean and dehydrate buckwheat, kale chips and i don't know what else. not sure what breakfast is yet - will start w/ a nectarine.

Good morning!

GlimR...your dinner this evening sounds lovely!

appi...I used to live in SC, so I can completely understand! Everyone around me was on the deep-fried southern diet and didn't get what I was doing!

My stomach's feeling much better this morning although I'm feeling very bloated and low-energy. I had an apple/banana/berry/spinach/hempseed smoothie a bit ago that was really good. I'm taking it easy today and taking care of myself. I'm grateful to be raw today! :)

GlimR - That I can understand (I was "semi-vegetarian" when I lived in KS in 1998) but mostly it's a lack of places where I can buy some of the foods I need/want.

So far I've had 6 glasses of water and I just now ate my nectarine. I guess all that sneezing dehydrated me? :P

I've got kale chips, some food processed spelt (for bread?), and buckwheat in the D.

Salad for lunch? Not sure yet.

Morning all!

I was so excited about my almonds yesterday that I made a bunch of almond milk, (plain, and cocoa) and couldn't help snacking while I did so.

Hence, another morning of water. I'm taking some spinach to work in case I get hungry, but if not I'm not going to worry about it.
This morning, I finally saw the "clear eye" thing everybody talks about in the mirror! I am so excited! Every day is more pure and healthy than the one before.

Good morning everyone! It's so good to see your faces today :)

I woke up this morning sneezing and I'm still going. I think it's time for a Neti Pot session.

Today I plan on going through the fridge and eating what I've made in there. There is a whole lot of stuff in containers from when I had cravings a few days ago LOL.

B: peach and pear
L: sprouted quinoa salad with avocado
D: salad with taco "meat" and cashew sour cream

I know that's a lot of fats to take in, so I might vary that, or leave out the sour cream and use salsa. I was really low in my calorie intake yesterday and I can feel that today. It's not a great feeling.

Have a beautiful day, all! :)

Hi all!

I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy. I'm still going strong on my challenge and have lost some weight. The funny thing about this whole experience is that I really don't think about food the way I did on my SAD diet. Somedays I have to remind myself to eat more because I know that I'm not getting enough calories for the activities I will be doing that day.
I've been keeping it pretty simple with mono foods and I haven't really had any cravings for the more complex recipes. Today was the first day I made a recipe. I had squash "spaghetti" with marina sauce. It was soooo good!

B- Watermelon
L- bowl of cherry tomatoes
D- Spaghetti
S- Cashews

GlimR, I hope your dinner was amazing!

appifanie, my husband grew up in fayetteville and we visit there periodically, I can completely sympathize! (In fact we'll be there at the end of July!)

Shels, congrats on the "clear eye" :)

I gave into temptation last night and ate several pieces of the lemon bars my sister made for our sisters' knitting night. They were gluten and dairy free, so there was very little there to keep me from eating them. Very yum, but I felt kinda gross afterward.

Today --last few days actually-- I've been dealing with crazy cravings for meat, especially tuna salad with mayo. I went on a hunch that the cravings were for fats, protein and maybe omega-3s (hence the tuna). My lunch eased them a tad and now they're manageable, but for awhile there I thought I was going to have to break down and make tuna salad :P

B: 2/3 of a green smoothie (my kids drank the rest :D ) with kale, banana, cashews, and frozen pineapple/mango/strawberry/peach
S: Pure brand raw bar
L: salad with tons of veggies and live gardenburger
D: pear, grapes, cherries

It's almost 1 am here in Georgia, and we have been at the mountain all day climbing and hiking. Stayed raw all day even with the cooked temptations all around me.
Tomorrow we wake up early and head to another mountain for more climbing and hiking.
Felt really good and strong today, just really tired right now, and ready to hit the sack!!

Green Smoothie

Fruit, Fruit, and more Fruit throughout the day.

1 Cucumber, diced up celery

A few soaked raw almonds

Tomorrow will be plenty of fruit, and a green smoothie.

Hahah it was my first day and I already caved. It's evening I have the trouble with.
I went to the farm market today though, so tomorrow is another start! x] Nice job! I admire you all. Let's hope I get past day 1.... It's the emotional eating I have the problem with, not the food type, and in the end bananas aren't as fun to eat emotionally. -sigh-
NEW DAY TOMORROW.

I ended up eating more than necessary through the day because I was feeling so blah. It's been my habit for a long, long time to eat thinking that it'll make me feel better. It really doesn't though and I'm very clear about that now. It was all raw though, no thought to anything else.

I made two raw salads, one beet and one broccoli & snap pea. The beet isn't that great, in fact I'm not so sure that it'll get eaten. The broccoli & pea salad is really good though, at least from the sample I tried, so I'm looking forward to having it in a chard-leaf wrap as a snack after work.
