Morning everyone! I'm about ready to head off for work, just wanted to check in and say hi. Had a lovely apple/strawb/banana/spinach/chia/bee pollen smoothie this morning. I've got a big fruit/green salad prepared for lunch and and apple & banana for a snack if I need it. I'm feeling a little low on energy this morning, so I'm going to take it as easy as I can today.

How'd everyone's cats like the spinach?

Have a RAWK'n day!

Firefly~
I was thinking about your post from last night..and you are dead on right about not comparing yourself, etc...I think it is fantastic that you are listening to what your body needs...and if you are hungry, eat! As for the spinach, several of my cats loved it and the others looked suspicious!:)

We had a crazy day yesterday with DD beginning her move, she accidentally packed the baby monitors so I slept in the recliner until she got home at 1 so I could hear the babes if they woke up. DH was so tired he forgot to set the alarm, either that or turned it off in his sleep when it went off at 4:30. So we both flew out of bed at 6:05. My first child comes at 6:15............aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....of f to the races!

Think I will be having lots of melon today and try a salad...will just see what the day brings...as long as it's raw I feel like I am set.....will try lots of water too...am feeling a little shaky this morning.bbl...hope you each have a fantastic day!!!

Chào buổi sáng !

It's been cool and rainy for several days and I haven't been able to get out to the garden to weed. It gives those nasty things the upper hand in the constant battle for control over that patch of earth. I will prevail!! Have a great day everyone in your own battles.

Here is my meal plan for the day:
Breakfast - apple, orange, lemon, kale smoothie
Snacks - sunflower seeds, grapes
Lunch - bananas
Supper - Celery, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, green pepper salad with acv

Since I'm a few days behind everyone - or a week - how long to get allergy help? I stopped taking my allergy pills on Monday and Monday I felt fine, but I've been getting worse each day. This is annoying because I am the type who will blow my nose all day long if I haven't taken my allergy pills and the sneeziness turns into sinus pain which turns into tension and migraine headaches.

breakfast was watermelon soup - i had some watermelon that was about to be bad - can't let that happen! wasted watermelon = shame!

plan for the rest of the day -

snack - nectarines if they're ripe
lunch - tacos ?
snack - apples?
dinner - salad of some kind

Morning All - Happy day 10!

I have been ridiculously exhausted all week. To the point I am crying when I have to drag myself out of bed (late) each morning. I decided to call into work sick. Maybe I'm not coughing with a fever, but this exhaustion is a sickness. I never take time off. I also don't have work technically due today (I usually am working way ahead, for just this type of situation!) so I'm not even leaving them with a huge burden. So, no guilt. I need to rest. I desperately need today off. I could probably use tomorrow off too, but taking an unplanned Friday off *could* be a PIA for others I work with, and I don't want to burden them. I just really need to stay home, eat whatever my body feels like (as opposed to whatever I brought with me to work), drink a ton of water, and get extra sleep. So that is what I'm going to do.

In the vein of "Why don't I feel better yet?!" which I've been whining a lot about lately, I found it appropriate that I got this daily motivator in my email yesterday:

"When you plant seeds in the garden, you don’t dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear away the weeds; you know that the seeds will grow in time. Similarly, just do your daily practice and cultivate a kind heart. Abandon impatience and instead be content creating the causes for goodness; the results will come when they’re ready."

-- Tibetan Buddhist nun and author Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron, "Meditator's Toolbox"

I wanted to share since this really helped me to meditate on, and might help others at the beginning of this raw food (and any other) journey.

Hi all ;)

Just checking in and doing pretty good.

My food is pretty much the same as it has been so far. I have a few things working in the dehydrator. I'm not really crazy about the "taco meat" I made. I might get some things at the store today to jazz it up a little like some avocado or something. I have some warm corn bread in the dehydrator right now that should be done when I get home. This weekend I'm going to work on some recipes.

I got a nice box of stuff I ordered from raw food world yesterday. I got a jar of Artisana coconut butter and it is out of this world. I need to figure out what I'm going to make with it. I also got some kelp noodles to try. I need to find a good recipe to put them with. I also got some chia seeds and cacao butter to play with. So hopefully my food will get more exciting as of this weekend. I also got the book cafe gratitude with lots of recipes. Maybe I should cross post this question but it confuses how a lot of their dehydrated recipes say to put in them in the dehydrator at 145 degrees for an hour then down to 115. Isn't that too high? Or does the food not get too hot for the first hour.

Gossy I loved the Buddhist quote. Don't feel bad about calling off, I get in that mood every now and then myself

if you put the taco meat in a romaine wrap with some avocado and some salsa with cilantro then it's AWESOME.

Thanks! That is what I was thinking myself. I need to go to the store. It seems like I live in the produce department at the grocery store lately.

morning everyone, happy day here at my house :)

Starting off the day with a big green smoothie (Spinach, Pineapple, Mango, and yummy Cherries)

Not sure what fruit and greens I will eat the rest of the day but I'll be back tonight to update and check in.

Tomorrow starts our 2 day hiking adventure, and I need to go to the store today to get groceries. I hope I can find a good deal on fresh cherries.
What would some of you take on a very long day hiking?
I'm thinking bananas, cherries, ???? I would like to take some watermelon maybe for that evening.

Thanks!

checking in for the day.

I've been eating a lot of salad lately, which is what I'll have for lunch. Dinnner will be again more salad and banana for a snack.

The last time I went raw, I hardly had an appetite. I didn't eat a lot and had to remind myself to eat something.

Today, I'll go back to the supermarket for more bananas. I try to buy all organic if the price isn't too high.

I wanted to share this with you all... I was impatient and climbed on my scale this morning (because I felt THIN!) and I am happy to tell you, my raw friends, that your support and Alissa's wonderful Rawkingness has helped me get to my first goal weight of 170 pounds!

*dancing*

I look forward to the next goal! I feel SO GOOD!!!

Have a gorgeous raw day all!

Yeah Coriander!! Go you!!

Gossy, go you too, for doing something for yourself and taking the day off. I hope it helps you.

I've been losing weight at the rate of a little more than half a pound a day. Since starting this challenge (for me, 11 days ago), I have lost 6-7 lbs. Is that too much, too fast? I know it's not good to lose so fast, so I'm a little worried (while at the same time, rejoicing :D ).

Very little hunger today.

B: half a cantalope and 2 kiwi
L: a few bites of salad
S: more cantalope
D: live gardenburger with tomato, sprouts, avo

Aw, Gossy, Appifanie I hope you feel better soon.

And that is so fantastic Coriander! Congratulations. :D

Rawmoose, I wouldn't worry about losing too fast as long as you're feeling good. A lot of people have said that they experience fast weight loss with raw foods, not to mention four or five pounds are usually erm .. fecal, and therefore not "real" weight, so maybe your weight loss will slow up a little after this, who knows?

B: Tons of water
L: Huge bunch of grapes
S: Scoop of almond butter.
Dinner will probably be spinach.

My almonds from Briden Wilson Farms arrived today, and I'm so excited! I have a package soaking right now, and am going to make some almond milk tonight. :D I'm going to avoid unsoaked nuts from now on, but I HAD to try one when they came in, and WOW. They're ten times better than I knew almonds could be.

there's a forum especially for a month-trial of being raw?! NO WAY. Awesome, mates!

Well it seems i'm 10 days short of the beginning, So.. I'm starting my day 1 on day 10. I feel behind... =[ I hope I get some support from this thread lol, none of my family or friends supports this, and this has been my huge problem every time I try going raw. (I can't get past 3 days without support..so..fail)

Uhm. Tomorrow is my day 1. So I guess technically i'm starting on day 11... I mean I don't want to wait until July 1 so... I guess i'm behind. Ah, well. Nice going so far ya'll

Sounds like everyone's doing RAWKtabulous!

Corainder...congrats on reaching your first goal! :)

Funny to hear that some cats love the spinach and others don't!

I swung by a tiny and very expensive raw food store yesterday afternoon. I bought some hemp seed and raw chocolate balls. Couldn't help myself and ate them on the way home. They tasted fabulous, but they didn't agree with me. I was feeling lightheaded and spacey and my body was screaming for greens. All I had with me was fruit so I ate some cherries. I've had a stomach ache since. At least I know that the chocolate balls are best for me to look at rather than eat. :( It's a good reminder to me that it's best to keep it very simple.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and congratulations. It's only 9.2 pounds, but it's the beginning of a lifetime of feeling GOOD!!!!!!

Welcome EscapeArtist. :) SO happy you've found us. :) This is a fantastic place with a lot of knowledge and tons of support!

Firefly, I hope your tummy feels better.

I'm going to have to try feeding the cats spinach. That would be funny just to see them look at it, and then wonder wtf I'm offering them. LOL

Loves to all, see you tomorrow!
