Hello. My name is Rachelle, and just over a month ago, one of my best friends introduced me to the concept of eating raw and living foods. We chatted on Friday about the basic concepts, looked through Alyssa's book, and watched the DVD. Saturday, we made "green lemonade", ate some young thai coconut, and that evening he made me the zucchini pasta with marinara sauce. On Sunday, I cleaned out my kitchen of everything not raw, went to the Farmer's Market and lost my mind buying all sorts of raw fruits, veggies and nuts, and I haven't looked back!

In a month's time, I've lost 25 pounds, I feel amazing, and I'm enjoying the new learning curve and all the wonderful new recipes I have to experiment with. My co-workers at school think I'm a bit nuts, but my students (I teach 9th and 10th graders) think that this is the coolest thing ever! Never in a million years did I think I'd ever be able to realize my desire to eat a completely vegan diet. In fact, I've had certified nutritionists tell me that I should NEVER eat a vegetarian diet. However, 39 days later, I feel healthier than ever; I have more energy; my trainer marvels at my increased muscle endurance; and my hair and skin (which I've never had problems with) look even better than they did before!

I look forward to chatting with everyone else here and sharing this journey with all of you!

I'm in Georgia too!! We live out near Athens (north east from Atlanta)
Do you know a lot of raw foodies in Georgia?
I feel like I'm the only one sometime.

I feel so blessed to be able to read your story. I had a similar experience when I first went raw four years ago, and am hoping to renew that now.

Usually, I do the bulk of my shopping up at the DeKalb Farmer's Market. It's a haul, but they have a much better and broader selection of organic fruits and veggies than the Fayette one does, AND they have raw nuts, which you can't find in the supermarket. Recently, though, I've been going to that tiny little red shack just off the Square (behind the Bliss cupcake place). The folks there sell local (and often organic) fruits and veggies at GREAT prices, and the produce is AMAZING.
