Just came off my best fast ever and did a lot of reading up on the various types of fasting. I'm interested in whether anyone here has any experience with intermittent fasting, as the opinions and info available online are so varied.

I'd like to try and incorporate one 24-hour water fast per week.
Any suggestions or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

one day per week gifts your body 52 a year. a nice way to give your digestion a break and your body a chance to dump a few extra toxins out.

doesn't do any major cleaning or repairs, but combined with a 100% raw diet... it's very healthy!

That actually sounds like a good deal. So long as it's only a one day thing, you'll be okay. However, I have a friend that fasts by eating nothing but apples for, I do believe, 3 days. Nothing but apples. Needless to say, he was squeaky clean from the inside out and he got all of the nutrients he needed to keep from, evidently, passing out. :)

What benefits, specifically, did your friend obtain from a 3-day apple fast?

I've done a 3 day apple fast.

there is obviously no energy lows. instead your energy is higher than usual.
it was for me, but at the time i was not 100% raw.

After the three days, I let go of some toxins and cleared my skin up a bit.

Nothing extreme though.

Thanks Nadien for sharing your experience.

I've tried this for short periods before and it did give me energy and help me lose a bit of weight without appearing to slow my metabolic rate. The trick is to only fast every other day.

I was just thinking about that the last few days....going one day on one day off, so eating (A) then juice fasting (B) in an A B pattern. If not A B then maybe A A B A A B pattern. That way you are getting 120 or so days a year of juicing which I would hope, for me at least, would eventually turn into B B A B B A after a while. Something to think about.

sidrah, it is recommended that if you are going to do a pattern, that you fast mon, wed, fri and then eat the other days. gifting your body a short break on the weekend (2 days rather than one).

also remember... the first three days of a fast are the hardest... so you are always doing the hardest days! just a few thoughts to keep in mind.

You asked about 1 day a week. My friend Ronnie Skurow does that and has been doing it for years. If I remember correctly, he begins Saturday morning and ends Sunday morning. If you'd like to chat with him about it you can find him on FaceBook at Ronnie and Minh. He's 100% raw as well.

Aleesha, Good idea. Thanks. That seems like it would work best since I am at school M-F not only during school hours, but tutor until at least 5:30 every night. It might be best to start that way and have the weekends to actually plan and spend the time creating meals, even if it is laying out apple slices and pears on a tray and not rushing to eat them as I drive to work.

The one day a week also sounds like something I would like to do. Maybe Fridays....

I'll think. Thanks :)

to me whats good about it is that it helps with appetite control , which is very important as itll help keep one nearer all raw plus less apt to be an over eater

im moving in that direction here at around fast 25 over the past 4 years , to date ive always pushed fast as far as i could go until feeling to weakly / foggy to go on . but now im looking at shorter and more frequent fasts ,
one day a week as life habit sounds like a great goal . then adding in longer ones of at least 5 days in order to completely empty out g.i. tract , but after 5 if not feeling it for over two days in a row to end fast while being very content to have reached five and an empty tract which must be a great aleviation of burden off the body systems to not have to be processing intake

* fasting is wise behavior
