Hooray! I bought some flaxseed and a coffee grinder yesterday...I ground some seed this morning and I'm anxious to make a smoothie. How much ground flaxseed should I use? 1 or 2 tbspns? (I was surprised when I saw how high in calories it is...I'm trying to lose wieght.)

1T should do it, makes it a tad thicker, and you can't tell it's in there.
You can also sprinkle on salads for added nutrients.

I use 2 per persons per day so if I am making for hubby and myself I use 4 then I also add 1 spoon of Flaxseed oil or Udo's oil per person. If you are eating raw you should not worry about the calories because you will loose weight.

I make HUGE green smoothies in my Vitamix. I have not yet figured out how to make small ones...
thankfully, my son is here with us and he LOVES them! Sure helps to have someone share these monster smoothies with!
I use 1 tbsp per person.
Someone explained that the use of the flaxseeds in the smoothie helps keep the foaming down.
Oh, I've just learned a WHOLE LOT about coconut oil, and I'm using 1 tbsp of that in my afternoon greenie.
Delicious!
BTW, you don't have to grind up the flaxseeds first, and then blend them. Just put the whole seeds into your blender/Vitamix AS ITS BLENDING and save the extra step.

Don't laugh, but I was sprinkling them on my salads but then inevitably some seeds get lost in the dressing dregs at the bottom...so I have taken to eating it essentially just ground up as is....I also like to mix it into guacamole...one big EFA dose!
