I'll be spending the winter in the Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs area this year and wonder if anyone can lead me to a good place to purchase food for this diet? I can purchase in bulk. Here in Portland I eat mostly fresh fruits and vegetables in season and raw nuts. I also eat a lot of dates. What types of fruits and veggies can I get in the CA desert?
Thanks.

Hey Rowan, nice to meet you :)

This site, lists 2 possibilities: Palm Springs - Natural Markets (http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/california/palm_springs/index.html)
Good luck.

Thanks! I only knew about one of those shops! And thanks for the welcome!
I guess I should introduce myself. I am a 52 year old grandmother from Portland, Oregon who has been 80% raw for about 3 months now. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and Fibro and this diet seems to keep my pain under control, so I do my best. I was 100% raw for one month, but it's been difficult with my significant other around. He eats up all my nuts! Wahhhh...

Anyway... I've tried many of the recipes in Alissa's book and have only found one or two I didn't care for. Each one is an adventure. And most are awesome!

I have a 9 tray Excaliber and recently found a 5 tray on Craigs List for $10!!! So now I have a small one I can take to the desert.

Nice to meet everyone ... and now on to reading the posts!
