Hello all,
I'm on day 20(21 in a couple hours) of my first 30 day green juice fast. I say it's my first, because the actual first time I tried, I only made it to day 12. This is only the second attempt and I'm going all the way. :D My heart and mind are so set on it, that this fast is incredibly easy to do.
I'm following Dr. Cousen's outline in his "Cure for Diabetes" book - since I have pre-diabetes. Don't worry guys, all my doctors have given me the ok to do this, since I don't have the crashing problems of a full blown diabetic. When I was on an oral medication, it was the smallest tablet they made and I only had to take it when my B.S. was too high.
My diabetes can be easily controlled by my diet.
My blood sugar was 137 the morning I started the green juice fast and dropped down to 82 on the 4th day. It's been in the normal range ever since. :D
They say 70 - 85 is normal range, but my b.s. has dropped down to as low as 62 on this fast. I was worried at first, but then I did some reading on it. It is low, but there's no danger - the danger is when it gets into the 50's. That's when it's critically low.
I expect my b.s. to go back to the 70's-80's when I start eating things like bell peppers, which have some sugar in them.
Anyway,
I read one of Aleesha's posts in another fasting thread about breaking a fast. Since I'm going for 30 days, I'm guessing it will take me about 10 days to get back to eating a regular, solid diet. 2-3 days of having juice with pulp and a green smoothie. 2-3 days of adding fresh fruit with the smoothies.
followed by 2-3 days of 1 small salad a day.
I'm wondering about the fruits. Since I'm not supposed to be eating any sweet fruits for now - the only things I'm left with are tomatoes and avocados. I can put tomatoes in my smoothies, but I'm wondering if I should be eating avocados right away, or when down the road I should be adding the fats back into my diet so that it doesn't upset my digestive system.
I've never really had a very sensative stomach, I'm just unsure if they'll cause a 'messy upset' because of the fats. :o
I'm also wondering about radishes. They aren't on Dr. Cousen's list of food stages. I would like to know if I can eat them in stage 1, or if the are a stage 1.5 food.
I'm going to assume they are a 1.5, because they are a root, and starchy by nature. The other roots are all in stage 1.5 or even 2 :( Which means I won't be getting any for another 2 months.
