Hey Y'all,

I just graduated from highschool, still live with my parents, and I don't currently have a job, so it is hard for me to get even enough raw food for green smoothies. Even though my family is "into health", my mom buys cheap and unhealthy food because that is pretty much all we can afford right now. I feel so gulty eating it. We have a garden, but all we are getting out of it right now is zuchinni and I can't stand to eat it raw! I have been overwight since I was 14and each year I have noticed a decline in my health. I have terrible and embarrassing acne and a giant rearend! I need to know, with my situation, what is the healthiest course i can take untill i get a job and can afford to buy raw food myself? I feel like there is no way to even get partially healthy without eating raw. Everything else seems to make me gain weight. It is so depressing.:(

You can turn the zucchini into soup, pasta, wraps, spread pate on it, many possibilities.

Bananas are the cheapest fruit and the best one for smoothies.

For your acne, look into urine therapy.

Once the psychological tabboo is seen for the illusion it is then theres a lot to be said for it.

I can drink my urine as easy as a glass of water, and I wash my face with it. It is very good for the skin.

if you want to lose weight, excersise. Even living on a perfect, organic raw diet the body still needs excersise.

The more faithful you are to raw foodism, the better your skin will be. If you can't get much in the way of food though, just cutting out grains will fix a lot.

As far as money goes, I agree - bananas are great (greens and carrots are also fairly cheap).
Also, look up what wild greens you can pick and eat in your area, and if you have a farmers' market, try to shop there a little before they close, since they allegedly lower the prices then.
If you still can't afford very much, at least start cutting out the really bad things from your diet: grains, high fructose corn syrup, MSGs, bleached things (flours and sugars)...

Good luck!

thanks for the advice, y'all!

Oh my word. I think you are pulling my leg about the urine thing!

I try to drink a green smoothie for breakfast and I have been running every other day for the past couple of weeks, but I haven't cut grains yet. I try to, but I let myself get hungry while searching the kitchen for something healthy, then my blood sugar drops and I eat whatever is instant food!

Here is another question: I am trying to convince my mom that eating mostly raw will help cure her of her pre cancer cells, thyroid problem, and gluten intolerence, do any of you have some suggestions to get her to eat more raw? She understands about cutting grains, but she still wants to eat meat and cooked vegetables.

If she's willing to try a little that's a start! Don't try to force anything, people have to experience the results for themselves. Maybe convince her to try a week of it, and she'll see for herself how great it is. There are lots of testimonies she could read too. *shrug*
