Hello All :)

Ive been raw one week and Im just curious as to when people normally start to see results?

Up until now Ive lead a healthy lifestyle, I don't drink, smoke etc and Im vegetarian, I drink plenty of water and make sure I take all the right vitamins etc to make sure Im giving my body what it needs, however Im mostly tired, and need alot of sleep to be able to do anything. That's why I decided to go raw; people say they get an increased level of energy.. but so far Ive just had headaches on and off and eaten soo much salad/veges etc to feel what i normally would from a piece of cheese etc.

A few ideas or a little help to stay on the raw train would be fantastic.

Thanks so much,

Penny

If you dont have one already buy a BLENDER.

making fruit/veg smoothies will make the journey easier.

Give it 30 days, then evaluate. ;)

Even 30 days is a very, very short testing period... but it's better than one week and will give you a wee bit of time to work through the early stages of Detox (headaches often being one symptom) and into the early stage of the blissful Raw High (increased energy, some weight loss, so on).

Some specific pointers:

1) Drink Green Smoothies and Green Juices daily...
2) Drink LOTS of water!!! Filtered or Spring water are my favorites.
3) Get up and MOVE... movement helps your Body work out the knots AND the toxins inside...
4) Last but NOT least... get a copy of Alissa's book LIVING ON LIVE FOOD.... it's what this Forum is based around and will essentially provide you with all you need to know to get a strong, solid start in Raw Foods.

A couple suggestions for you...

Marine phyto plankton. It's fantastic for energy. The reason why it's so great is because your body has to take glucose (sugar) and oxygen and convert it into ATP (what your cells use for energy) in your cells, and marine phyto plankton contains straight ATP that doesn't need to be converted in your cells to be used as energy.

You might also want to consider colonics. They would speed up the detox significantly. Fan infared saunas would help with the detox too, if you think you can afford that.

Also, are you taking calcium supplements? If you are, stop right now. Calcium supplements are really bad for you, not to mention really scary and gross. They're made from dead shell creatures scraped from the bottom of the ocean. All they'll do is create calcite buildups in your body (calcite buildups are what causes arthritis).

Here's a recipe for a super mylkshake (if you have a blender, or if you don't, for when you get one):
2 cups of water
1/2 cup fresh mature coconut meat
1 tablespoon raw cacao nibs
3 bananas
a pinch of cinnamon
Pour the water into the blender. Add the coconut and the cacao, and blend till broken down. Add the bananas and cinnamon, and blend until smooth.
This should give you plenty of energy. You can add other things to it if you want, like dates, carob, goji berries, green powders, spirulina, etc. I've also found that this smoothie has a laxative effect, especially if you use more coconut. It's really filling.

:)

Thankyou so much for taking the time out to give me some feedback and a few ideas! :)

It makes sense that the reason for my headaches is that im still detoxing, I just had no idea it would take so long.

thankyou for the recipe bananarama! and the words about Marine phyto plankton, i hadnt heard about it before.

Hereeeee goes!

making a green smoothie in the morning that contains something citrus (grapefruit, lemon or orange) as well as, banana, wheatgrass, spinach and berries, gives me loads of energy.

I never eat anything heavy in the morning, always light but fueling.

AND LOADS OF WATER.

as well as stretches. stretching and jumping around completely wakes my body up.

something that might help your energy is combining food properly, that way you put even less stress on your digestive system so energy can go elsewhere.

but seriously, your body is adjusting, you'll get through this and feel better soon. GIVE IT TIME!
