Older Vitamixers.....are they good?

There is an older vitamix in our area on craigslist. THe older 500 series stainless.

Has anyone used one of these? Are they similar to the nowadays ones?

I just can't afford the new ones, even on a plan, at this time.

I had one for years and it was great...did everything my new one does...I only bought a new one because I liked the container better and wanted the new style. One thing I liked better about the old one was the spigot for dispensing. If it looks like it's in good shape I'd go for it.
PS...my mother and sisters have the old style...my Mother has had hers for twenty years...still works as if brand new.

If they're close to you, ask if you can try it out to find out if it works. Make sure all parts are there.

I've had one for over 15 years. Works as good today as the day we bought it.
